1769601 Shelby, good job, but it looks like you have to read 7 more books by June 30th to be at the halfway mark. It is a big challenge you have set for yourself.

I am rooting for you. I only have 23 under my belt. I would like to read at least 50.

1053760 LOL. I probably won't end up there but it sure is fun trying.

365038 I see you gave The Help 5 stars! WooHoo-it's one that I really want to read! You didn't like The Stolen Child that well? It was very different huh? Oh Shelby, you will make it to 100-no problem! There are too many good books to read and it's great to have such a support system (CoL) which makes it so easy to keep adding more!

Oh you will get close for sure. I am rooting for you. You will be my inspiration.

1053760 There are so many good books! I keep adding to my list thanks to COL. lol.
I did like the Stolen Child but not as much as the Help. I loved that book. I'm picky about what I give 5 stars too.

1053760 Ok. I have to read four more to be at the halfway mark for the year. I might just do it :)

1410084 Good luck Shelby! I'm rooting for you. I could do it if I add in the kids books that I read to my kids at night. LOL Other than that, I will be lucky if I hit 30.

1053760 48. Pawpaw Patch A Novel
not a good book at all!

622853 Wow Shelby, you read a ton! :)

Shelby, How did you like Bitsy's Bait & BBQ? It's on my shelf but haven't read it yet. Great list!

1053760 49. On the Beaten Path An Appalachian Pilgrimage I have always had the dream of hiking the AT so I read every book about it I can.

Holli, It was a really cute book. I liked it. I've read some more by Pamela Morsi and liked them too. She makes her characters likeable.

960496 How was Eyes, Shelby? I've heard mixed reviews.

message 23: by Shelby (new)

1053760 It was really really slow about halfway through the book. I almost didn't finish it. Then it got really good and ended up being a good book. The language made it read slow for me too.

622853 What did you think about Crazy Love?

message 26: by Shelby (new)

1053760 I know now why you nominated it for the club to read. Gives alot to think about! I liked it. I'm glad she shared her story. I hope it helps more women. It's not a book that "preaches" at women. She just tells her story and hopes it will help.

message 27: by Holli (new)

622853 Exactly what I thought...I thought it was good. Sad book and a book that hit home for me with the verbal crap but I was glad to read it. I hope others do as well and that it helps women out there in the same situation....

message 28: by Mandy Sue (new)

1410084 I think I'm going to pick this book up this weekend.

2342217 YAY! You're halfway there! PHEW! I heard Thin Air was fantastic! If I am able to cram it in, that'll be on my TBR list.

message 30: by Shelby (new)

1053760 Mandy Sue you'll love it.

Thin Air was pretty good. I keep thinking about it even after I read it.

message 33: by Mandy Sue (new)

1410084 Shelby I added The Lost Recipe to my TBR shelf. Thanks!!

1053760 61. Stardust Pretty cute fantasy. I see there is a movie out too. I wouldn't mind seeing it. I like seeing how someone's interpretation is different than mine.
62. The Miracle Life of Edgar Mint A Novel Liked this one.

message 35: by Tanja (new)

2342217 Shelby, Stardust the movie is adorable. I'm not sure about the difference between the film and book since I haven't read the novel. But I was enchanted.

message 36: by Holli (new)

622853 I loved Stardust the movie.... it was really cute!

834245 (bowing down in front of my computer exclaiming "I'm not worthy" over & over) HOLY COW girl! I am impressed! SO impressed!

message 39: by Brenda (new)

1769601 Shelby, you read 64 books!

message 40: by Brenda (new)

1769601 that should be a question ..... your read 64 books?

A.M.A.Z.AAAAAA....ing

message 41: by Shelby (new)

1053760 You girls are sweet! I go through periods when I can't get enough to read and then a period where I won't read much at all. I guess right now is a book time! :)

message 42: by Tanja (new)

2342217 *applauds Shelby* You can do it!

message 43: by Cindy (new)

365038 Shelby, Love your hair!! I remember I really enjoyed On Mystic Lake; still have to read Those Who Save Us. You go girl; reading up a storm!

I get like that too. I'll go through a period where there is always a book in my hand then I could go months without reading.

message 45: by Shelby (new)

1053760 August:
65. The Picture of Dorian Gray
66. The Confessions of Max Tivoli

These two books were both definately not my favorites.

message 46: by Shelby (new)

1053760 67. Never Let Me Go This one just never panned out for me.
68. The Girl Who Stopped Swimming Good one. Great southern characters.

message 47: by Cindy (new)

365038 Go Shelby! You're reading up a storm; I think I've slowed down a little lately. Only 32 books to go to make it to 100, yea!

message 48: by Kristin (new)

2577083 Oscar Wilde is a bit tough to get into. I really enjoyed "Ideal Husband," but more for the tongue-in-cheek of high society of living.

Have you ever read any of the narratives from the Pacific Crest Trail? (It goes from Mexico to Canada through California. AT and PCT are my life goals.) I keep hearting Cactus Eaters is a good one... and there's one about a couple doing it together. I believe its called "A Blistered Kind of Love."

message 49: by Shelby (new)

1053760 I have Cactus Eaters on my wish list. I haven't heard of the ones from The Pacific Crest Trail?

message 50: by Kristin (new)

2577083 Cactus Eaters is about the Pacific Crest Trail. :) It is sad there aren't more narratives about trail life, isn't it?
