Anyone excited about debut authors/new books this year? I really liked The Demon's Lexicon by Sarah Rees Brennan, Swoon by Nina Malkin, and although he's not a new author I'm really looking forward to Lev Grossman's The Magicians.
I also saw Damsel by Susan E Connolly over on Debutantes. It looks interesting! I'm going to have to follow this blog, they seem to have the stuff I like right now.
Who/what are you excited about?
I can't wait for the new Bloody Jack book in Sept. Rapture of the Deep Being an Account of the Further Adventures of Jacky Faber, Soldier, Sailor, Mermaid, Spy.
I loved Demon's Lexicon!! In YA I don't think there are quite as many boy-friendly books as girl-friendly (although you, Kyle, seem to have a fairly cosmopolitan taste in books). Yay, you!
I'm looking forward to The Swan Thieves A Novel by Elizabeth Kostova. Her previous novel was The Historian. I absolutely loved that one. But of course, I have a thing for Slavic lore. :D

Had some scary moments while i was reading it in bed and the electricity in the block went out!!!! Freaked me out!!!
I really, really can't wait for Juliet Marillier's next new book. It's supposed to be based on Beauty and the Beast. I know she'll work her magic!
Heart's BloodAnd even though I haven't gotten to it, I also want to read The Demon's Lexicon.
the best set of books I ever read was the Trudi Canavarn 'Black Magician Trilogy', and her 'Age Of The 5' books.
I really recomend them to people who love books on magic, relationships and stuff like that. They're a bit like 'Magic Study' but more indepth on the personal feelings and emotions. :D Really great books!
Reema-yeah I really loved it! it explained to much about the first trilogy! :D
which did you like better, age of the five, or black magician trilogy?
My library doesn't have anything by Canavan, it is very sad. I found the second Magician book and that's the only one I've read!
i bought all mine off amazon since there are no good book shops round mine.
seriously, if you can you should get them, they're awesome :D x
I'm not sure which set i liked better. I loved BMT because it got me through a difficult time in my life (loosing my grandad) so i kindda attached myself to the book to escape. I think The age of fire shoes a move develpoed style of writing so is great as well. I just can't choose - sorry. I know there are talks of her doing another book or triogy to explain the story between TBM trilogy and the magicains apprentice as there are still gaps in the story!!!
yeah I've heared that too. its on her webpage that shes going to write about Soneas son, but i dont think she updates it often so theres no release date yet :/
I loved the age of the five books, but the ending was quite predictable (about the Gods messing round with both sides) I liked how the story switched between different peoples point of views though :D
cant wait for the next ones!
