Apathy and Other Small Victories by Paul Neilan was a hilariously disturbing book. Literally had me laughing out loud. And while I like Sedaris and find his books funny I didn't laugh nearly as much as I did with this book. And I always find myself giggling at mostly any Kurt Vonnegut book.
Joshua Then and Now, by Mordecai Richler: I read it on a canoe trip in Algonquin Park (how Canadian am I), and I think I may have scared all the moose on the lake with my guffaws.
All of the Stephanie Plum books, Jen Lancaster, and Jennifer Crusie! Those women each have a great sense of humor! And sometimes I laugh so hard I cry (usually anything involving Grandma Mazur in the Plum books, and the Ikea Scene in Bright Lights Big Ass - Lancaster)
I also like the humor in the Dortmunder series by the late, great Donald E Westlake and the Maggody series by Joan Hess.

Is that the one about Mark Sanford?

Sorry. Couldn't resist.

But speaking of people thinking your crazy in public, I was reading the third book of Maximum Ride at the gym. I was at the scene where the kids are getting interrogated and where they were talking about the Snicker Bars and I burst our laughing. I got some really weird looks after that.

For me my two favourite funny writers would be Terry Pratchett and David Sedaris. People think I am insane when I read them on the train. Bridget Jones had me in hysterics, and always giggle when I read P G Wodehouse.
Me of Little FaithAlways Looking Up The Adventures of an Incurable Optimist
Actually, kind of a serious book, but definitely some laugh out loud parts...

I just recently read How I Became a Famous Novelist by Steve Hely. I laughed out loud a bunch of times, it is smart and funny.
I also love David Sedaris, he narrates audiobook versions of his books, and I think they are evn better.

Fiona, Shogun? Really? I haven't read it since high school. Maybe I should read it again with older eyes.
Confessions of Georgia Nicolson.

2. It's Okay, I'm Wearing Really Big Knickers
3. Knocked Out By My Nunga-Nungas
4. Dancing in My Nuddy Pants
5. And That's When It Fell Off in My Hand

10. Are These My Basoomas I See Before Me?
They are hilarious.
Oh, and there's a world book day book called "Let the Snog-Fest Begin!"
Oh, I loved Hitchiker's! I got a copy with a huge 'making of the movie' section in the back, so I thought I was only halfway through it when it finished. Boo. David Sedaris doesn't really do it for me. I'm sure I have others, but it's all slipping my mind right now.
To pile on what has already been said - All of the Stephanie Plum series.High Fidelity
A Walk in the Woods Rediscovering America on the Appalachian Trail
In response to Li, neither do I.However, I just finished reading (finally) "A Confederacy of Dunces" by John Kennedy Toole, and it definitely had me laughing throughout the book.
David Sedaris can usually make me laugh out loud, and even though I didn't really like "Rant An Oral Biography of Buster Casey" by Chuck Palahniuk and didn't even finish reading it, there was one childhood scene that was gross but made me laugh on and off for days just thinking about it.
Also, "Mr. Perfect" by Linda Howard definitely has moments that caused me to LOL.
I know there are more, but I can't think of them at the moment. Plus I am sure this comment is long enough as it is. :)
I just realized that I read too much, but not nearly enough.
I don't read a lot of funny/humourous books but the following books had moments where I started cracking up:- Helen Fielding's Bridget Jones's Diary and Bridget Jones The Edge of Reason
- Sophie Kinsella's Can You Keep a Secret?
- Stephen Clarke's A Year in the Merde

Emily-
I was about to say the same thing! He is one of the few authors that I have to read in a room by myself with the door shut because I cannot stop laughing. Still have to read Engulfed in Flames. Heard it was good.

I can't decide whether I like Death or Death of Rats. Both are hysterical. I want Pratchett to outlive me so I never run out of books.

I have You Say I'm A Bitch Like It's A Bad Thing in my bookshop. Its a flip-over book and I had it open at this page http://i56.photobucket.com/albums/g190/K... over Christmas. A LOT of people laughed out loud.

Abbie, the Death of Rats makes me laugh every time he appears.
1)Terry Pratchett's Discworld series is very funny...I love Death trying to do "human" things.
2)Douglas Adam's Hitchhikers Guide series... I've gotta stop calling 5 books a trilogy.
3)Erma Bombeck is still a classic.
I don't know if you count these as books because they are just pictures with captions, but they are definitely LOL-worthy You Say I'm a Bitch Like It's a Bad Thing and That's Queen Bitch to You.
I loved Angry Housewives Eating Bon Bons by Lorna Landvik. The flashing part had me in hysterics! I also giggled quite a bit at her Patty Jane's House of Curl.
The Thursday Next books. First Among Sequels was maybe not quite as good as the others, but what a fun series.
Kandice I just added all of these books to my TBR...Thanks for letting me know about them...love YA and love to LOL!
I have recently read Angus, Thongs and Full-Frontal Snogging Confessions of Georgia Nicolson and couldn't wait to get to the next, and the next in the series. I was literally laughing out loud like a loon! My daughter is in the middle of the first and is also laughing out loud. I love it!
btw, I am relocating this to the Book related topic.... its not exactly a recommendation request....
