2967669 Apathy and Other Small Victories by Paul Neilan was a hilariously disturbing book. Literally had me laughing out loud. And while I like Sedaris and find his books funny I didn't laugh nearly as much as I did with this book. And I always find myself giggling at mostly any Kurt Vonnegut book.

2345961 Don Quixote! hands down. I can't say any other novel has ever made me laugh out loud.

1373239 Anything by Terry Pratchett

308856 Joshua Then and Now, by Mordecai Richler: I read it on a canoe trip in Algonquin Park (how Canadian am I), and I think I may have scared all the moose on the lake with my guffaws.

2552905 I think the Spellman Files series is absolutely hysterical!

Nophoto-f-25x33 All of the Stephanie Plum books, Jen Lancaster, and Jennifer Crusie! Those women each have a great sense of humor! And sometimes I laugh so hard I cry (usually anything involving Grandma Mazur in the Plum books, and the Ikea Scene in Bright Lights Big Ass - Lancaster)

1690572 One that made me LOL...was Easy by Emma Gold...it's kind of a Bridget Jones...but I liked it more!!

409348 I thought You Suck A Love Story by Christopher Moore was hilarious!

2128769 The Art of Racing in the Rain by Garth Stein. It also made me cry,

754081 I also like the humor in the Dortmunder series by the late, great Donald E Westlake and the Maggody series by Joan Hess.

I love Terry Pratchett too! He's probably one of my favorite authors! But speaking of people thinking your crazy in public, I was reading the third book of Maximum Ride at the gym. I was at the scene where the kids are getting interrogated and where they were talking about the Snicker Bars and I burst our laughing. I got some really weird looks after that.

Nophoto-f-25x33 I just recently read How I Became a Famous Novelist by Steve Hely. I laughed out loud a bunch of times, it is smart and funny.

I also love David Sedaris, he narrates audiobook versions of his books, and I think they are evn better.

message 42: by Colleen (new)

2242527 American Gods by Neil Gaiman has very funny parts in it.

message 41: by Mary (new)

930987 I agree with all who have mentioned David Sedaris and must also add anything by Joe Queenan.

2463296 Fiona, Shogun? Really? I haven't read it since high school. Maybe I should read it again with older eyes.

1133601 Denis Leary's Why We Suck definitely has a lot of LOL moments. So funny but also so true.

1. Angus Thongs and Full-Frontal Snogging
2. It's Okay, I'm Wearing Really Big Knickers
3. Knocked Out By My Nunga-Nungas
4. Dancing in My Nuddy Pants
5. And That's When It Fell Off in My Hand

They are hilarious.

Oh, and there's a world book day book called "Let the Snog-Fest Begin!"

message 36: by Dylan (new)

Nophoto-u-25x33 Oh, I loved Hitchiker's! I got a copy with a huge 'making of the movie' section in the back, so I thought I was only halfway through it when it finished. Boo. David Sedaris doesn't really do it for me. I'm sure I have others, but it's all slipping my mind right now.

1109068 My Life and Hard Times, by James Thurber.

1410516 In response to Li, neither do I.

However, I just finished reading (finally) "A Confederacy of Dunces" by John Kennedy Toole, and it definitely had me laughing throughout the book.

David Sedaris can usually make me laugh out loud, and even though I didn't really like "Rant An Oral Biography of Buster Casey" by Chuck Palahniuk and didn't even finish reading it, there was one childhood scene that was gross but made me laugh on and off for days just thinking about it.

Also, "Mr. Perfect" by Linda Howard definitely has moments that caused me to LOL.

I know there are more, but I can't think of them at the moment. Plus I am sure this comment is long enough as it is. :)

I just realized that I read too much, but not nearly enough.

990839 I don't read a lot of funny/humourous books but the following books had moments where I started cracking up:

- Helen Fielding's Bridget Jones's Diary and Bridget Jones The Edge of Reason
- Sophie Kinsella's Can You Keep a Secret?
- Stephen Clarke's A Year in the Merde

Emily-
I was about to say the same thing! He is one of the few authors that I have to read in a room by myself with the door shut because I cannot stop laughing. Still have to read Engulfed in Flames. Heard it was good.

Nophoto-f-25x33 1)Terry Pratchett's Discworld series is very funny...I love Death trying to do "human" things.
2)Douglas Adam's Hitchhikers Guide series... I've gotta stop calling 5 books a trilogy.
3)Erma Bombeck is still a classic.
