Oh no, I wouldn't expect you to do that. I think simply saying that you're done with the book would indicate that your spoilers could be anywhere along the way.
My idea was more for people who post as they read.
I don't mind putting pages for spoilers if I'm commenting during the processs of reading the book. But I generally don't post anything until I've read the whole book. I can put around about times like say by the middle or last third kind of thing. But I'd rather not have to go back through and try to figure out where in the book down to page and chapter my spoiler occurs.
Can I make a suggestion? I love that everyone uses <SPOILER> in their comments but I was wondering if we could indicate where we are in our reading as well. For instance, we could put what chapter or page we're on. I haven't read any of the Dark Places posts b/c I'm not sure if the spoilers are things I already know (and could comment on) or are things I haven't read yet. I'd love to be able to discuss as we go instead of waiting until we're done.
Just an idea. :)
Well we have a clear winner in the first poll: The Disreputable History of Frankie Landau-Banks and the second poll has a tie. So.....since the Frankie book is a YA read, we'll make the other book The Undomestic Goddess so that we don't have 2 YA reads.
And the third book............Julie and Julia 365 Days, 524 Recipes, 1 Tiny Apartment Kitchen, since there was talk about it on the boards, it's coming out as a movie soon, and is different from the other 2 reads.
I will post these soon, along with the discussion links.
Feel free to read them all, or just choose the ones that sound good to you.
In addition to the July reads, if anybody wants to read any of the other books nominated for July and start a discussion, do feel free!
Sound good? Any other ideas? Suggestions?
Happy Reading!!
Okay, well we did talk about three books so maybe everyone will want to go ahead with that. These look like easy reads.
Deb sent out an email that the vote ended Monday morning....so I am guessing who ever planned on voting has voted.
I adored "Time Traveler's Wife" - I'll see the movie but it will probably disappoint.
Hope I'm not too late! I nominate:
I really liked the "The Time Traveler's Wife". Probably because of that though, I wouldn't like the movie. If I really love a book, the movie always seems to disappoint.
Michelle - yeah, I've seen the trailer for that. It looks cute. I've been planning to read the book before I see the movie. So it seems like a good July nomination. : ) Has anyone read The Time Traveler's Wife? They are making that into a movie too. But I think it looks too mushy in comparison to the book.

I Like It! Since we have so many nominations I think this is a good idea. I'm actually seeing my sister tomorrow so we can "pull from the hat"!
If you have any more nominations, get them in by midnite tonite, we'll have our selection to choose from and I'll put up the poll either Fri or Sat.
Julie and Julia is being made into a movie starring none other than the great Meryl Streep. The release date is Aug 7th. http://www.imdb.com/video/imdb/vi7759516...
Or, Deb could put them all in the hat, pull out five or six and then we could vote on three to read. Deb, are we helping?? :))
Maybe since they are supposed to be easy reads, we can choose 3 books for July so people can read all three, or however many they get to.
I think I'm going to have a hard time voting, there are some really good books on this list for July.
Oh yeah, and for the heck of it, I want to nominate a Jane Austin book. : ) I mean, summer reading isn't complete without a little Austin! 5. Emma
I love beach reads! Here are my nominations:1. Beowulf on the Beach What to Love and What to Skip in Literature's 50 Greatest Hits

2. Julie and Julia 365 Days, 524 Recipes, 1 Tiny Apartment Kitchen

3. Confessions of an Eco-Shopper The True Story of One Woman's Mission to Go Green

4. The Beekeeper's Apprentice
Firefly Lane is on my TBR list too, I just added it last week when I saw my friend was reading it.
we have some good contenders here ladies!
Here are my nominations - they don't take palce on the beach, but seem like quick reads that you may read while on the beach:
Two Old Women An Alaska Legend of Betrayal, Courage and SurvivalThe Penderwicks A Summer Tale of Four Sisters, Two Rabbits, and a Very Interesting Boy
I guess I meant a book that takes place in the summer, and is also an easy read--like a "chick lit" book.
For example, one of my nominations is
it's set on Nantucket, in the summer, and was a popular summer read last year when it came out--and like other Jane Green books, probably does not need much concentration. A fun, easy, summer read whether you're at the beach, on your deck, cuddled up inside on a rainy summer day, or reading on your lunch break.
Does this help?

Deb - did you mean books that don't need much concentration and therefore would be easy to read "on the beach"?
I have another suggestion for those who might like mysteries - The Architect by H. Ablom. I just finished it (and have it in hardcover if Deb or Shelley would like to borrow it). A good psychological thriller, but an easy read.
How about "Cross Country Quilters" by Jennifer Chiaverini. Quick read, prolific author, about a widespread group of women with a common interest (sound familiar?) I don't think you have to be a quilter to enjoy it. PS: of interest, the author is now designing fabric!
Since we're already midway through June, it's a good time to start thinking about July reads.
In honor of summer, let's nominate books that are considered "beach reads".
I know it's not terribly original, but I did warn you that creativity is not my strong point :)
Since beach reads are usually quick reads, and alot of us tend to have more free time in the summer, we will have 3 books in July. I will start a poll next week and keep this one open more than 12 hours (I'm learning, I'm learning)
So start nominating!
