Alathea,
I kinda felt that was probably the case regarding publishers. Thank heavens for changing to Berkley! I love the stories now. Mercury's War is another great story.

She changed publishers with Megan's Mark (Breed Series, #7). EC was all about sex and less about story, but since she switched to Berkley, the stories have improved (while still retaining the hotness).
Dawn's Awakening will probably always remain my favorite with Mercury's War a close second.

Yes after reading mercurys war you must read them in order.I think i might just read them again. I also like coyote mate it was intense. My fav will always be Dawns Awakn. I cried like a baby when she had to face the fact of him and a possible marriage. The reaction she gave for dawn to handle it was something that was so real and touching that i lost it.

I burst into tears the first time I read the scene when Dawn discovers what happened in the years she's been avoiding him (I still can't read that part without a heavy supplies of tissues)...
And how they slowly tiptoed around each other, she determined to fulfill her destiny, he determined not to hurt her if it killed him...God. I know it's a work of fiction, but still, those feelings were real for me.

And when he tells her how he had the soaps made for her, one from every place he traveled because it was like she was there with him and he could share them with her...
And then the dozens of pairs of panties LOL...
Oh, and the shower scene... *be still my heart*
I adore Seth.
Coyote's Mate was another tear jerker. I hated Del-Rey and felt soooooo sorry for Anya when the others started treating her so badly.
I've added the first book to my TBR, this series should keep me going until BDB LM is released next year LOL.

These books are very "series sensitive" in that so much happens in each book that... well, it's a series I would recommend reading in order, especially to get the real emotion and feeling for Dawn's Awakening.

Ha Ha Heather that's why I never listen in the car...lots of people on here do and I've always thought OMG if that was me I'd be away in the book, road what road! imagine explaining that to the police...oh yes officer so and so was just in the middle of passionate hot sex and......I got distracted.:)
I'm reading Kate Pearce at the mmoment Roping the Wind Jay could come round to my house any day:)
Susan wrote: "Susan - the first highlander book is Beyond the Highland mist. I'm currently listening to it in my car during work commute. Love the narrator :)"
i love audiobooks ,but listening in the car for me is dangerous. I was listening to lover unbound and the bathroom scene with V and Jane Omg in audio.Well I about wrecked into a firetruck ,so I decided home would be the safest place for me...
But as far for love scenes I think Lora Leigh Dawn's Awakening. The passion between them is amazing. The book had me laughing crying and wanting Seth badly. Very good book.
The scenes written by Charlotte Featherstone are beautiful..romantic, sensuous, very exqusite and quite often heartbreaking.

Sue certainly.
Uniquely Moi wrote: " I went looking for this but I couldn't find it. It's really good? Who would you compare her to? "she is fabulous. I wouldnt be surprised if she will be considered one of the best regency authors in a yr or two.
as for who I would compare her to, it's hard to say. I see a bit of Julie Garwood, Jane Austen, Julie Anne Long, and Loretta Chase.

there is a new author and her love scenes are hot and romantic: Tessa Dare. Her debut - GODDESS OF THE HUNT is out this month and another will be coming out next month.Chibahanako ~ I agree about Lorraine Heath but she does most things very well. Very good writer all around.
Susan - the first highlander book is Beyond the Highland mist. I'm currently listening to it in my car during work commute. Love the narrator :)
most romantic? that'll be Lorraine Heath for sure! she's not really my fave author, because I am usually fickle and I often go for stories (I don't really mind whoever wrote it, as long as I like the story), not the author. but Lorraine Heath writes the most tender (yet tortured) heroes! Ever.

Yes these are all historicals. I loved Jude Deveraux's older books.

SusanT wrote I.ve never read any of these authors are they historical or modern day
Alathea wrote: "Uniquely Moi wrote: "Anyone else read the Breeds?"
Adore those Breeds. Wish I had one of my own. ;)"
Isn't that the truth. If I had one of them around, I'd save a bundle on books because I wouldn't have the time or the inclination to read. *blushes and giggles*
Susan wrote: "How about Karen Marie Moning in her highlander series?"
what is the first book in the series,I.ve read some of the series, but I don.t believe I read the beginning.thanks

Danielle;are any of these authors historical, and what about Jude Devaurxe,I use to read her alot when I was much younger.thanks
I haven't seen anyone mention Lora Leigh. She writes some hot stuff.
Also, anyone waiting... Bengal's Heart was at my B&N today so I picked it up!
Anyone else read the Breeds?

Hi Susan, welcome to the group! :)
Welcome aboard, Susan. We are all goodreads addicts. I hang out here way too much and my shelf shows it. Johanna Lindsey was my first romance novel author. She's still beloved to me.
Hi,my name is susan, and I'm new to this group my daughter started me on goodreads,I love reading romance novels my favorite are the historical series.
I.ve read the highlander stories, and I.ve read Johanne Lindsey also in fact I.reading one of her books now [No Choice But Seduction:]it's one of the Mallory series.it's not as good as the first parts of the series
Linda Howard's After the Night. That book made me and my friends crazy. We passed it around tons of times always throwing key words or phrases at each other. It was ... wow. Enough said.
Susan wrote: "How about Karen Marie Moning in her highlander series?"
I love her Highlander series! so romantic and it makes me want a highlander of my own
Kleypas, Christina Dodd, Connie Brockway, Celeste Bradley, Jennifer Ashley (except for the finger in the you know where part in Penelope and Prince Charming. Not my cup of tea), Melody Thomas, Kathryn Smith, Kresley Cole, Kinley MacGregor, Suzanne Robinson, to name some favorites. When I was younger I sure did love Johanna Lindsey's love scenes, but they are tame nowadays.
My vote would go to Lisa Kleypas and Suzanne Enoch. Excellent build up and deliciously sensual when it's all done ;)
I think I would have to say Lisa Kleypas does the most consistently romantic love scenes, but there are certainly a lot of authors who are good with building chemistry and romance in their stories.
I thought JR Ward did this very well in her BDB series even thougth these books were not typical romance, you could still feel the chemistry between the characters. You rooted for them to be together.
