I have always loved Mystery, Horror and True Crime, but as you can tell from my posts I read anything and everything.
I never really looked at the authors name till I joined Good Reads. I never had a lot of money and would read everyone's hand-me-downs, so I never knew month to month what I would get. I have friends and family that would give me thier books. LOL Now I can afford to pay for some myself.
I like Stephen King, Linnea Sinclair, Agatha Christie, Anne Rule, and Dean Koontz these authors are the people that I can come up with at a moments notice.
Gina, I gave you my favorite authors in my favorite genres. I read other genres and probably have read several dozen authors in most of the genres that I have read. Honestly don't think I could list just one author in any genre.
I just started reading Paranormal so I don't really have a favourite, yet. Science Fiction: Isaac Asimov, Robert J Sawyer
Contemporary: Barbara Delinsky, Fern Michaels
Mystery: Oh, so many! Catherine Coulter, Iris Johanson, Joanna Fluke (actually this part of the list could go on forever)
LOL, Kathleen, that's quite a list! But that's good, cause I'm right there with you. Everyone asks me: just one author. Yeah right! Out of all the awesome authors I read, how am I supposed to pick just one?!
Paranormal Romance – Jayne Ann Krentz, J.R. Ward, Sherrilyn Kenyon, Christine Feehan, Susan Sizemore, Angela Knight, Maggie Shayne, Lynsay Sands, Larissa Ione, among others
Humorous Paranormal Romance – Kimberly Raye, Stephanie Rowe, Minda Webber, among others
Futuristic Paranormal Romance – Jayne Ann Krentz (writing as Jayne Castle), Linnea Sinclair, Nora Roberts (writing as J.D. Robb), among others
Historical Romance – Jayne Ann Krentz (writing as Amanda Quick), Julia Quinn, Stephanie Laurens, Hannah Howell, Julie Garwood, among others
Science Fiction – Orson Scott Card, Frank Herbert, Dan Simmons, Isaac Asimov, Robert Heinlein, Arthur C. Clarke, Ray Bradbury, Ursula K. Le Guin, H.G. Wells, Jules Verne, among others
Fantasy – Marion Zimmer Bradley, Anne McCaffrey, Katherine Kurtz, Ursula K. Le Guin, Stephen R. Donaldson, Brian Jacques, Jim Butcher, Lisa Shearin, among others
I like to read general fiction, romance fiction, suspense fiction and since joining Goodreads I've read a few paranormal. Authors that I have read a lot and will continue to read are: Barbara Delinsky, Luanne Rice, Kristin Hannah, Alice Hoffman, Anita Shreve. Again, since joining GL I have read many new authors also.
Question of the Week #2
Genres and Authors
For me, I have three fave genres: Paranormal, Romantic Suspense and Thriller. There have been my absolute faves for quite some time. And because they have been for quite some time, I have comes to read dozens of authors that I adore, authors whose work I follow, to the letter, and read everything by them I can get my hands on. However, when pressed to name them, I'd have to go with: Paranormal/Sherrilyn Kenyon; Romantic Suspense/Nora Roberts-J.D. Robb; Thriller/Erica Spindler. And that's just to name a few. So, for the second Question of the Week, I ask this:
What are your fave genres and the authors in those genres?
