I personally would just like the ability to search single threads. A "Search this thread" option would make me happy as a pig in mud. :)
Thanks for fixing the first two problems...the third I think your not quite getting what I'm trying to say...like right now if I clicked on say Cait's name it would show all 452 comments she's made in this group...what I would like it to show is only the comments she's made for this topic...not a big problem for topics such as this but in my situation I sometimes have to go back 5 or 6 pages in a person comment list to find what they said about my topic...I don't mind having the persons picture linked to their profile and the name for the comments. Thanks
I suppose we could always add an actual named link to the recent posts, something like:message 11: by Cait (new) (other comments)
where "Cait" would be a link to my profile and "(other comments)" would be a link to the other comments I've made in the group. Then the hover with the number of comments made could be moved to that link, where it's more sensible.

I agree. I want both. Although, I frequently forget which is which.
Part of the problem with clicking the avatar to get to the profile is that it isn't obvious that the image is a link. I just learned we could do that a few days ago, until then I had also been seriously frustrated by the fact that names linked to posts.I know that saying "this is the way things are done on most sites" isn't often a good argument here. But having a name linking to a profile is pretty standard so that explains why there tends to be some confusion. It also feels really wonky because clicking the username in threads takes you to the post list, but clicking it on every other type of page (including the post list) takes you to the profile. So it doesn't help that the site isn't consistent when it comes to what to expect from that click.
I think it may be better to swap the links, because a profile seems like a much more common thing to want look at than a list of posts. I guess everyone uses the site in different ways, but I look at a profile or two almost daily. On the other hand, I can't remember the last time I actually wanted the post history (as opposed to clicking through it for the profile).
I like having the ability to get to both and I don't know how else to do it, but I don't actually like having the name link to the discussion posts. I always think of names as linking to profiles so whenever I want to get to the profile, I click the name and then have to click the avatar when the page of posts loads. Of course, whenever I want the page of posts, I click the name and get what I want. Like I said, I want both and don't know how else to get both but I don't like the current system. I need a magic button that knows what I'm thinking and takes me where I want to go!

I personally like this too. It makes it really easy to spot wicked spammers! ;)
I like it the way it is too. Sometimes I want to go to someone's profile, sometimes I want to see someone's last posts in that group.
Clicking on their name takes you to their posts; clicking on their mini-avatar takes you to their profile. And I for one really like it that way.
Hi Cynthia,1) Yeah, that interaction has bothered me from time to time as well. I just altered it so it will both create the new shelf AND add the review you're editing to that new shelf. You should see the change after the next release (within a day or two).
2) Another good point, so I changed that too. Again, give it a day or two to hit the site.
3) If I remember correctly, this is kind of a matter of internal debate. Personally, I think clicking on a person's name should always take you to their profile, but I believe I'm in the minority. Maybe Otis or Michael will chime in.
I'm currently in the process of adding subject related shelves to my books..and in the process creating a lot of new shelves. I find it a bit frustrating that when I'm putting a book on shelves and I have a new one for a subject I don't already have it doesn't automatically add the book I'm currently working on to that shelf I have to go back and click the box. Don't know if that makes sense but it would be nice if I didn't have to do that.
Also again I'd like to say when I'm changing the wording of the shelf title on the edit bookshelves screen I would like it if I didn't have to copy the old shelf name and paste it to edit (mostly I'm making a small change to the wording) but that it would come with that name to edit it...I also use Librarything (only posting my most recent reads) and have tagged books and editing tags in a similar screen and that's how they do it and I really like that.
3rdly non-shelf related - I run a reading challenge for the TNBBC group and sometimes I have to click on person's name to go back and re-read something they said previously...I think it would be GREATLY HELPFUL if that didn't come up and show everything they've posted for every single thread in that group that I have to then weed through to find the info I need but that it would only show the posts they've made in that one particular thread....again I hope that makes sense.
