I read this in the 80s. A girl learns how to leave her body. She meets another girl who can do the same thing and she convinces her to leave it and then steals her body. The author described an invisible pull she had to her body that stopped when the girl possessed her body. I believe I read another book by the same author where a girl's whole family died in a car accident but her and there something fishy about her past that she finds out, another ya fantasy.

Stranger with My Face by Lois Duncan. The other one is Summer of Fear I think.

It is the Duncan books. Thanks Mel. I recognize the titles. I thought there was some relationship between her and the other girl. The reviews say it was a sister she didn't know she had. That sounds right.
