1356469 Use this folder to introduce yourself to your fellow convicts crime fans so we can all get to know each other first.

1637878 Hiiiii everybody! I read a pretty wide variety of things, and I definitely try to stick some sort of crime/thriller into the mix fairly regularly.

I just recently started on the Sue Grafton ABC mysteries (recently as in I've only read the first one)...and I'm really liking those so I plan to stick with them.

message 3: by Kandice, The Local Bobby (new)

1396160 Welcome Allison. It will be nice to get to know you;)

message 4: by Allison (new)

1637878 yes...if the group doesn't grow a bit more I reckon we'll know each other pretty well :)

message 5: by Fiona, The Crook (new)

1356469 Oh no not you again!

Hehe, welcome lovely Allison.

message 6: by Allison (new)

1637878 <-----doesn't feel very welcome.

message 7: by Rachel (new)

1456113 Hi, my name is Rachel and I am a bookaholic. I think I read more thriller than crime, but recently read some Sherlock Holmes and a couple others that fall into the crime genre. I really like thrillers because they keep me on the edge of my seat.

message 8: by Allison (new)

1637878 hi Rachel!

message 9: by Allison (new)

1637878 somebody should start some threads :) I'm too scared I'll put something in the wrong one.

I don't know where to out the one I'm reading. It isn't really... well. Probably in general crime.

message 11: by Kandice, The Local Bobby (new)

1396160 Hello Rachel. Very pleased to make your aquaintance!

(LOL)

message 12: by Allison (new)

1637878 yay I started a thread :P

message 13: by Allison (new)

1637878 oh...and for the record, that picture is gross/hilarious.

message 14: by Kandice, The Local Bobby (new)

1396160 Thanks Alli-chan...

1724711 Hi everyone! We know each other from elsewhere... but I'll introduce myself anyway.

I'm more into mysteries, than crime and thriller... does that count? Have discovered Janet Evanovich in my old age. Just read the first and had the best time. Will now have to chase down the rest. I've been wanting to read the Sue Grafton series too, but can't find them. I'm taking a trip to the UK soon, so will stock up!!

message 16: by Fiona, The Crook (new)

1356469 Of course mysteries count! Anything crime/mystery/thrillery counds here!

I keep hearing about this Sue Grafton author... annoyingly.

Welcome Hayes. :D

message 17: by Hayes (new)

1724711 Oh, you're here already!! Great group idea, ladies. Just in time for light summer reading!

651844 Fiona, how did you know I was looking for a great mystery/thriller group to join!? I just joined a "cozy mysteries" group a few days ago, but I'm not sure it is going to fit the bill for me. So I was THRILLED to read your post about this group! (Pun intended. :)

Hi, everyone. I know Fiona from the Wild Things YA group, and I see a few other familiar faces here as well! I love mysteries although I haven't read as many of them since I became a children's librarian. I also love children's/YA literature, so it's okay, but sometimes I just miss immersing myself in a great mystery! That's when I run to my public library and head for the mystery section. Some of my favorite mystery authors are Dick Francis, Agatha Christie, Dorothy Gilman, and Anne George. I've also recently started reading Nancy Atherton's Aunt Dimity series and Alexander McCall Smith's No. 1 Ladies' Detective Agency series.

message 20: by Hayes (new)

1724711 I heard about Aunt Dimity just a few weeks ago. Can't wait to read those too!

Well, you see I can read people's minds...

And I don't think the other crime forums were really that active... I'm hoping this one will be a bit more so.

I've read the first four so far, and loved the first and fourth one. I thought the second and third ones were okay, but still important to read. Reading them in order is best since they build upon each other as far as what is happening in the main character's lives.

message 23: by Hayes (new)

1724711 I'm a real stickler for reading in order. I can't find A is for Alibi, so I won't start the Grafton series!!

message 24: by Kandice, The Local Bobby (new)

1396160 Hello everyone. I am so glad people are here!!

message 25: by Hayes (new)

1724711 Hi Kandice!

message 26: by Luann (new)

651844 I read "A" and then reluctantly moved on to "C" when my library didn't have "B." I could tell there were things I missed by not having read "B" so I stopped and have never read any more of them.

message 27: by Jackie (new)

1176067 Hi Everyone! I'm kind of new to the crime and thriller genre so it's nice to have a group that will point me in the right direction. Looking forward to chatting with everyone. :-)

message 28: by Lori (new)

369169 OK, So I seem to know just about everyone here... Luann, nice to see you here as well, Im used to only seeing you over at the Lost group ;)

Need I say I am the moderator of TNBBC, mother of 2 boys, crazily addicted to reading, but even more so to BUYING books?????!!!!

I am always on the lookout for library sales (which I have found TWO in my neck of the woods over the next two weeks! Eeeek!)

Nice to see everyone.
I dont dabble much in Crime or Mystery, BUT... I will be browsing around to hopefully find some new books to pick up!

THanks for invite ladies!

message 29: by Fiona, The Crook (new)

1356469 Welcome to TCAT (T-Cat?) group Lori. I think we should roll out the red carpet!

message 30: by Lori (new)

369169 Oh gosh no! Don't be silly :)

message 31: by Kandice, The Local Bobby (new)

1396160 Hello everyone. You are all so welcome!

Huge, huge welcome to the best Mod in the world!!! (Fiona and I have been trying to pay attention!)

message 32: by Lori (new)

369169 Trying to pay attention to what? Hopefully not me!

I think its great that you ladies are creating groups for yourselves. You do such an excellent job over at TNBBC, helping keep the peace and of course discussing away all day....

It sure is going to get quiet over there now that the top most posters are running their own forums (Sigh) Somehow, I will have to learn to make due....

(JK!)

message 33: by Fiona, The Crook (new)

1356469 Nothing could beat TNBBC we shall always be there, somewhere... beating up spammers with sticks.

message 34: by Lori (new)

369169 Hee hee... good to know you still got my back!

message 35: by Kandice, The Local Bobby (new)

1396160 Yeah! Spammers are sooooo much fun. Just wait 'til we get one of our own.

message 36: by Fiona, The Crook (new)

1356469 Yeah! We'll have to send them to the electric chair!

message 37: by Kandice, The Local Bobby (new)

1396160 Can we make one?

message 38: by Fiona, The Crook (new)

1356469 Maybe we'll have to order once in, just in case lol.

message 39: by Kandice, The Local Bobby (new)

1396160 If we get a spammer, you know how Lori has the Spammer's circle in Hell, well we could have a folder called The Electric Chair!

message 40: by Fiona, The Crook (new)

1356469 Where by after 3 days on death row they will be deleted and banned for good.

message 41: by Linda Grace (new)

1939651 Hey all... thanks for inviting me, Fiona! I look forward to joining in on some of the discussions and hearing everyone's views!! My sister used to love Agatha Christie novels and I read a few of them and loved them, but haven't read much since, so I look forward to getting some reccomendations.

message 42: by Kandice, The Local Bobby (new)

1396160 Hello, and welcome Linda Grace!

message 43: by Linda Grace (new)

1939651 :) Thanks Kandice. Great work with the group discription! I've been wanting to read more books like this and look forward to hearing what's good.

message 44: by Kandice, The Local Bobby (new)

1396160 Hooray! The more the merrier, although a lot of these books I read a long time ago, so will be discussing using my memories.

message 45: by Linda Grace (new)

1939651 haha it's all good. Maybe time for some re-reads?

message 46: by Becky (new)

1376766 Hmmm... I see that this group has been in existence for 10 days and I have only today received an invite. I feel like a 5th wheel... You're not planning on bumping me off, or maybe using me as your patsy are you?? O_o

All that silliness aside --well, MOSTLY, anyway *wonders if my invitation was lost in the mail for 10 days* ;)--, I like crime, thrillers, mysteries, suspense, courtroom drama etc. I haven't been reading a lot of that lately, as I've been reading a lot of fantasy but that will change soonish, I'm guessing.

Actually, I take that back, I read And Then There Were None the day before yesterday. It was fantabulous. :)

message 47: by Jamie (last edited Jun 04, 2009 04:43PM) (new)

898662 Hello, everyone! I'm glad you've started this group, as I enjoy mysteries, but I think I need some assistance in finding the right ones. : ) My favorites are Evanovich's Plum series, and Nevada Barr's Anna Pigeon series is pretty good, too. I recently read The No. 1 Ladies' Detective Agency and I think this may be another series I will be following. I suppose Lisa Lutz's Spellman series would be considered mystery, too, and these are among my favorite books. I'm looking forward to reading some classic mysteries in the near future, as well.

message 48: by Fiona, The Crook (new)

1356469 Well K and I didn't open it to the public until TODAY mrs.

message 49: by Becky (new)

1376766 But... I'm not the public... :(

I know you guys are going to bump me off. I just know it.

message 50: by Becky (new)

1376766 Can you at least make it quick and painless? And can I tell my family I love them first? ;)
