Judith, have you ever read the Irish Country Doctor series? An Irish Country Doctor by Patrick Taylor- they're mostly set in 1950's Ireland in a fictitious village. Cute, feel good kind of stories.

Am also reading it, am enjoying it even though it is very English and I am not a subject of the Queen. May she live for a thousand years. However, I once was a subject.

Janet (goodreadscomJanBookFan) | 812 comments Bill, I loved the Summer of '42. I read it at least a couple of decades ago and I still remember how much I enjoyed reading it.

New for me this week...I picked up a copy of Three Bags Full by Leonie Swann for a group discussion. It is a light and whimsical story about a flock of sheep in Ireland trying to solve the murder mystery of their shepherd. It is no longer in print, but I was able to pick up a copy online for $1. + shipping. It's a fun book.

Sammantha (MissBooksAholic) | 39 comments The books I bought this week are as of the following:

Full Dark, No Stars -Stephen King
Bag of Bones -Stephen King
We Were The Mulvaneys -Joyce Carol Oates
(Seen the movie but the movie never does the book justice!)
A Breath of Fresh Air -Erica James

That is my list of books I purchased this week and with great deals! :-)

~Sammy

I'm really enjoying Summer of '42, Janet. Many laugh out loud moments and I'm finding that now that I'm reading it, how faithful to it the movie was. Your Three Bags Full of Leon sounds very interesting. I picked up a couple of new books this past week; High Country by Nevada Barr, a favourite series of mine and one new series, Gallows View by Peter Robinson. Next weekend is our semi-annual charity book sale. I'm looking forward to finding some gems... :0)

Hi Bill. I had a look at your latest haul of books - what bargains!! I've read 5 of them - Chocky, A Morbid Taste for Bones, The Summer of the Danes and The Rose Rent were all read ages ago. I remember that I enjoyed the Ellis Peters books a lot. The most recent one that I've read is The Distant Echo. I like Val McDermid's novels on the whole. Have you read any yet?

Angela - I've read a few of Ellis Peter's books and enjoy the series. I've read most of the Wire in the Blood books and have enjoyed them very much; enjoyed the tv series as well. I've only read one that wasn't part of that series; A Place of Execution, and it was ok only. I'm looking forward to trying A Distant Echo.

Dani | 26 comments I have a Kindle so my purchases are all downloads (too many readers in my family for paper books!):

buys this week:Wool, Wool 2: Proper Gauge, The Story of Beautiful Girl, and the Hunger Games trilogy.

I ATE through the Wool books - they are shorts . . . anyone intersted in post-apocolyptic lit should consider the .99 and puchase these or just spring for the entire pentagraphy - Wool Omnibus Edition. I can't believe they would be disappointed.

So far, the Story of Beautiful Girl is a wonderful, engaging story, I just want to crawl inside the book and bring these characters home with me and care for them.

I've already read THG, but I borrowed them so I needed copies to call my very own!
