Need to Burst With Good News?
Hey Wild Things, I thought since we have a rant topic we should have the opposite of the rant, kind of like cheers & jeers, a place for virtual high fives.
I'll share my really excited bit right now: I've been really worried about not being able to find a job for summer. I've had one interview, that's it. Anyways, I got a call today saying I have the job, and while it is graveyard shift, I basically get paid 8.50 to sit at a desk and read books! Yayyyy!!
Now someone else has got to have some good news!
My 18 y.o. daughter and I had a great talk about some really important stuff the other night - out of the blue - for hours, completely initiated by her. It was wonderful!
Congratulations April, I'm so happy for you!
Yay, Laura! Teen years are pretty hard, I know I was full of hormones and angst. It seems like your daughter is a very mature young lady!
Great Idea for a thread April. So, I can put really little things in here as well?
If so, here's mine.. I have M.E (please look it up if you need to) and I've had a really good day, which is great, since I've been really ill these last few days.
Umm... I can't think of any really exciting news other than that my cat Alfie seems to be completely better! YAY! He was very, very sick and I was worried sick about him myself, but he is doing MUCH better now. :)Congrats on your job, April!
And congrats on your blooming relationship & talks with your daughter Laura. Just you wait, it will get better than even that!
Sam, I wouldn't say that that is a "really little thing" that you had a good day. I just looked it up, and I would say that having a good day for you would be very wonderful indeed. I'm happy that you had that, and I hope you have many, many more! Best wishes!
Even if it's a little thing, a little thing is a god thing, and this world certainly needs more good, so I'd say small good things count.
Anyone with a chronic illness (like me with Fibromyalgia & Chronic fatigue) understands how important a good day is, Sam. I am currently in a pseudo-remission but not too long ago I spent a lot of time in bed. You GO, Girl, for those good days!!!
Well after 4 years of asking to teach 10th grade English, which is American Literature, I found out yesterday that I have 4 sections of it next year, so I am excited.

YaY! Do you know what books you are teaching yet?
April, all I know right now, is The Great Gatsby and The Crucible. I have a binder at school in which I can find out my options, but I won't get that until Tuesday. The textbook materials I won't get until the end of June, but I'll probably peak before :)
I love both those books! I have very fond memories from high school when we read the Crucible outloud in AP, and we made my male friend play Betty and he had to do it falsetto.
I like this : ) I told the 7 and 10 yr old, they must tell me something positive every time they are negative and whiny
April, that sounds hilarious... I always have the boys that are falling out of their chairs to play Juliet... it makes things interesting. I am really looking forward to teach Great Gatsby... I am very ready for this year to be over now, because I want to start next year.
Jennifer, I enjoyed it too, and in college too.. I am very excited.

Too funny, good luck with that.
April, What an awesome thread to start.
Also I wanted to say congratz to everyone that has had positive and wonderful things happening to them. :~)

Thank you Becky!

Thank you! As we both know, one good day seems to make up for the bad days. Well, it does for me anyway ;D

I like that! I do something similar but its only when they are arguing with one another. I make them stand facing each other and say 5 positive things about the other. My 12 yr old can come up with good ones but they end up in laughter because my 8 yr old can't. She says stuff like "your shorts are nice" or "I like your nose".
This is a great thread idea, April! I really love it. And congratulations to everyone who's had things to report here.
I struggled for a couple of years with undiagnosed early menopause that left me feeling like I had chronic fatigue and lots of other problems, but thankfully the bio-identical Progesterone cream really is amazing and has transformed the way I feel in almost every way I can count.
My daughter's soccer team took second in a tournament this weekend. Of course they wanted first, but they played really well and I was very proud of her:)
Our church dedicated the whole service to past and present servicemen and woman. We sung patriotic songs, read scriptures, viewed videos and it really moved the children and give them a better understanding the price of freedom
I'm making African Vegetable Curry for dinner. (Ok, I know that's not really impressive, but it's delicious!)

Hey, I remember what you said that's like, and that is very definitely a good news thing:)
I have a job interview tomorrow.. which is both nerve-wrecking and great of its own accord. Hopefully I'll be back on this thread saying I have a better job for next year.
Good luck Kristen!! I have a job interview coming up soon too, hopefully we will BOTH be saying that!
Okay, just got some insider info.. I know one of the people that is going to be in on the interview. They only have four candidates and two have been interviewed. There will only be three people besides me in the interview and well, it sounds like I have a great chance of getting this job. I used to work with one of the people interviewing me. So now I'm a lot less nervous.Good luck on yours Becky, I'll be happy when mine is over tomorrow. I've still been a wreck all day.
Thanks Kristen! I don't know when my interview is going to be... Hopefully soon. I'm very impatient!!
I'll be crossing my fingers for you!
Done with gathering my materials for tomorrow. Just need to run copies at work tomorrow. Good thing it'll be rainy and cold tomorrow because I only have a long-sleeved suit. I don't know how I'm going to sleep tonight.
I'm excited about going on a mini road trip with my hubby. Leaving in the morning from here in VA to go to Niagara-on-the-Lake, Canada for three nights. I stopped at the used book store this afternoon for something to read (like I don't already have probably 200 books sitting here) and walked out with maybe 8 or 9... including a N.Gaiman and a few YA's. Let's see: 1.Husband (check) 2.Books (check) 3.Bottle of wine, cheese, sourdough & fruit (check) 4.Passport (check) 5.Camera & charger (check) 6.Clothes packed (check)... see ya'll next weekend!
Oooo! That sounds like fun Susan! I won't be going on a trip until my honeymoon in October. We're just doing a weekend cabin getaway.
Alright, it went really really well. So... hopefully I'll know in the next few days. In the meantime I have another quick interview tomorrow before school, but they already have two people vying for the job that are strong candidates.
I love this thread. When I worked at an after school program, after all the kids had left and we were going over the day we had to do "good-thing, bad-thing".
Congratulations on the new jobs. Yay for good days from chronic illnesses. My younger sister has chronic lymes and has not been in school all year because of fatigue. Very thankful for tutors that enable her to stay current in her work!
I'm super excited about getting married on Saturday then spending a week in Dominica! Lots of hiking and waterfalls down there. Gorgeous!
Great idea for a thread! I have nothing to share at the moment but I wish good luck to everyone who has interviews and have fun to those going on vacation.
:-)
I am looking forward to a road trip a week from today, down to Columbia (SC), to look at a display of Impressionist art.And to hit up the local yarn shops! (Going with knitting group.)
Lauren - congrats on getting married! That sounds like a beautiful location for a wedding. :)
Good luck in your travels and interviews everyone! This was a wonderful thread idea. It's great to take time and appreciate the things that make us happy.
Kristen, I'm glad to hear your interview went well, and congratulations on getting married, Lauren. Enjoy your Honeymoon!
LAUREN that is awesome. ^^I am very happy that I am completely done with school now. ^^ NYC was great, now ... now I look for a job. But I am done. I've never been so happy.
I'm back! Thanks for all the well wishes. We had a wonderful time...despite the gray skies & drizzly weather. It's great being still in love with my husband after 21.5 years of marriage.
