Keyona,
I didn't get to read Wake because I was like the 7 out of 14 holds from the library, and was not able to receive it for the month of June
But I added it to my TBR list, and will read it as soon as I get my hands on it.
Thanks for the recommendation still.
Nancy! ohmygoshness - I finally got a hold of Trash Sex Magic by Jennifer Stevenson. Then, when I did get it, I bragged to my siblings/mother/friend about how funny, sexy, cool it was and then had to fight with them to get it back so I could finish it. Every time I popped it down I'd go back and it'd be gone. I'd then have to spend the next day or so tracking it down and taking it back...only to have it go AGAIN. FINALLY got to the end just late last night (30th June here) with no interruption. I'd have to definitely rate it as one of my top 5 quirky top picks for this year :-)

Glad you enjoyed it overall. It was my first time taking part so I was a little nervous!

Glad you found it enjoyable. I like the characters very much in that one. I have the rest of the series sitting in my TBR pile, and I hear there is a new one coming out soon!
Yay! I managed to finish my June pick BEFORE the month ended!
Michelle's pick for me was Tempting Danger by Eileen Wilks. Thanks for the pick, Michelle, I enjoyed it. I have never read this author before, so I got to read someone new. I enjoyed the plotting and characters very much, but the theory behind the magic in the story was a little fuzzy to me. All in all though, a decent read. I will probably finish out the series when I can.
Thanks again!
Hi Mel. Over the month I've been watching my name creep up the list at the library... I'm now 74th in the queue of 100! I started at 89...
So, I don't think I'll be able to get around to it this month - but I promise to post about City of bones in whatever month it arrives!
Sarah, thank you for picking Tiger Eye ;D I enjoyed characters of this book. I plan to next book in the series (solely) because of them (does Roland have a book? ;D). I have some doubts regarding consistency of the plot, but overall it was an entertaining read :)

By all means - do not waste precious time on a book that you can't get into when there are so many good ones out there!
O.K. I have to admit defeat. I just could not get into The Gargoyle. The writing was decent, but it was not holding my attention at all. I just didn't seem to care about anyone and it was getting dull. I would read something else and then go back to it and ended up making it about half way through. I just couldn't force myself to finish it, though. I can see why it is popular, maybe I will try it again later. Thanks for the suggestion though. It did seem right up my alley.
Yeah I was giggling a lot at that bit. I'm really hating the Richelle Mead books the now, it's put me off Succubus's but I was intrigued enough to want to know more! Depending on what new releases are out this month, I might buy book 2. My Hubby bought me Finger Lickin' Fifteen today so I'm happy!
Glad you enjoyed the book, Michelle. I thought her clients' problems were hilarious...like the vampire who is scared of blood and the succubus who wants a meaningful relationship.
I haven't read the next book yet, but I plan to do soon.
Yz, I loved Hotter After Midnight, Thankyou! It had a nice mix of acton/romance and it was an interesting world. I will continue with the series eventually, hopefully they will become easier to get over here. I'm intrigued now! lol.
Melody, Just finished I Burn for You and it was great. Completely addicting! Thank you so much for a great pick. Can't wait to continue the series!
Melody, I started on I Burn for You last night. I am already hooked with only a couple of chapters read. I can't wait to get off work so I can go home and read it all!
I'm SO glad you liked it! I've liked everything else I've read by her, but this is what I started with. You'll have to read the other two in the series. I'm glad you're going to look for Automatic Detective, too, because that's one of my all time favorite books!
So I've just finished Don't Look Now. It was so much fun. Fast paced with plenty of corpses and solid amount of hot sex... I liked it! Thank you, thank you, thanks you Melissa! You really did a good job with that recommendation. Now I'm of to hunt a copy of Automatic Detective, keep your fingers crossed and maybe I'll find one.
Melody wrote: Hi Lara! It got some great reviews from other goodreads members. Yay!
All good Kasia. :O)Hi Lara! I just took a quick look over your shelves (it's getting into the month now and I know how I hate waiting) and I don't see that you've read any Susan Sizemore. She's a wonderful author and I think you'll enjoy her series beginning with I Burn for You.
If that doesn't suit, let me know and I'll consider further. :O)
Don't worry, I'm a scaredy cat as well and it's not scary at all but a very original read. I hope you like it :)
Mel wrote: "Annie: Wow you have so many books on your shelves. I see you've read quite a few YA books so for you I choose City of Bones by Cassandra Clare.
Hope you like it."
Hi Mel - nothing like making me read something! I've tried in the past, but this will give me incentive - fingers crossed I get it in time! There's quite a waiting list at the library.
My problem is that I actually own the books. For some reason, when I have a purchased book sitting on my shelf it collects dust while I borrow and borrow from the library! It's like some kind of medical condition that has yet to be named! I own over 200 books now because of all the pnr recommendations and I don't spend enough time actually reading them. PNR and Urban Fantasy are my faves and that's why I spend my money one them, but I'm just as addicted to going to the library.
I have seen The Gargoyle in some of these threads and it's been on my mind to look for it, so I'm sure it will be a great choice for me.
Wow Melissa, most of the books I thought of for you, based on your obvious enjoyment of PNR, are already on your TBR list. Why haven't you read the BDB books yet? All of the hype hasn't convinced you that it is the best series EVER?Anyway, based on some of the other books we have in common, I think you will enjoy The Gargoyle by Andrew Davidson. I really loved this story and I hope you will too.
Melody wrote: "Kasia, I picked for Melissa in May...I don't mind picking for her again if she doesn't...what do you think Melissa? :O) (just in case, I'm wracking my brains for another great author...)"
Sorry for that, and no problem.
**rearranges stuff**
Ok so now you'll be picking a book for Lara. And Valerie's got Melissa. All good?
Keyona wrote:YZ, you have got sooo many books! It seems like you've read almost everything.I've decided to pick Wake by Lisa Mcmann. It's pretty good and has a very original storyline. Enjoy :) .."
Sounds interesting, Keyona. Hope it's not too scary, just sort of thrilling...coz, i'm one scaredy-cat..LOL.
I've ordered it from the library already, and keeping my fingers crossed that I will get to it before June ends, because there are 9 holds on it.
Looking forward to reading it.
Lara, I'm so glad you enjoyed Minion! I was nervous as well. I trust your judgement and I'll pick your favorite For One More Dayby Mitch Albom. Thanks!
YZ, you have got sooo many books! It seems like you've read almost everything.I've decided to pick Wake by Lisa Mcmann. It's pretty good and has a very original storyline. Enjoy :)
Kasia, I picked for Melissa in May...I don't mind picking for her again if she doesn't...what do you think Melissa? :O) (just in case, I'm wracking my brains for another great author...)

Annie: Wow you have so many books on your shelves. I see you've read quite a few YA books so for you I choose City of Bones by Cassandra Clare.
Hope you like it.
Annvelwis: Thanks for the picks. My library doesn't have either books :(
May I ask for a third choice?
Valerie,
Poison Study was my recommended book from last month's challenge, and it turned out to be a pretty good read.
I think you will enjoy it.
Amanda wrote: "Hi Valerie, I saw that you enjoyed The Hunger Games as much as I did so my recommendation for you is Graceling by Kristin Cashore. Other books you might enjoy are Kelley Armstrong..."
Thanks for the recommendations Amanda. My local library doesn't have Graceling :( but they do have Poison Study so I will try that one.
Hi Valerie, I saw that you enjoyed The Hunger Games as much as I did so my recommendation for you is Graceling by Kristin Cashore. Other books you might enjoy are Kelley Armstrong's Women of the Otherworld series (Bitten) or her YA Darkest Powers series (The Summoning). Maria V. Snyder's Study series (Poison Study) is also very good.
I hope you find something you enjoy out of these!
Annie wrote: "Hi Amanda. Looking at your shelves, it feels like you read like I do - depending on your mood. So, I thought I'd offer you so choices, depending on what you feel like reading, and what you can lay..."
Thanks Annie! All of these look great and are definitely going on my to-read shelf. I'll see which one I can get at the library for this month. Thanks again!
tosca wrote: "Hi de hi Nancy - have requested Trash Sex Magic so as soon as June begins I'm set with my first book :) Read a few write ups about it and I'm looking forward to it - it sounds quirky. Quirky good..."Quirky it definitely is! I found the book purely by accident at a local library sale. The title caught my eye, I paid my 50 cents, and it ended up becoming one of my all-time favorites.
Another book you may enjoy is Jesse Hajicek's The God Eaters. It is a self-published title and rather expensive, but you can read it online for free here:

Just click on the title at the top of the page.
Hi Amanda. Looking at your shelves, it feels like you read like I do - depending on your mood.
So, I thought I'd offer you so choices, depending on what you feel like reading, and what you can lay your hands on...
PNR: Tempt Me with Darknessby Shayla Black
PNR for young adult: Marked by P C Cast.
Historical crime romance: Slightly Shady by Amanda Quick
OR:
The Lady Lies by Samantha Saxon.
Hope at least one of those tempts you!
Annie
Hi de hi Nancy - have requested Trash Sex Magic so as soon as June begins I'm set with my first book :) Read a few write ups about it and I'm looking forward to it - it sounds quirky. Quirky good is my lifelong philosophy. Well, that and 'chocolate good', too ;)
Lori,Oohh la la! I had fun choosing your book. We've read a LOT of the same m/m stuff so had to think hard and dig deep. Have chosen Rush in the Dark by Lynn Lorenz. I have a thing for cowboys so I hope you do, too :D
Nancy! You have a queer shelf! Amazingly though, we only have one book in common.I've read so much M/M lately it's really hard for me to pick just one for you so I'll give you a couple of choices.
Soul Mates Bound by Blood by Jourdan Lane
or
My Fair Captain by J L Langly
These are both the first books in a series. I hope you like them.
Keyona, I am so nervous about this because you did such a great job last month with picking Minion for me. I have 2 choices for you. My first pick is one of my all time favorites. For One More Day by Mitch Albom. If you don't want to read that one my second choice for you is City of Bones by Cassandra Clare. I hope you enjoy!
Alright, Melody. I see that your interest in YA is peaking and that you tend to look towards retelling of fairy tales, so I'm suggesting The Princess and the Hound. If you love it, there is a sequel that just came out called The Princess and the Bear.
Oooo Kasia - two good looking books. I think I'm going to go for A Certain Slant of Light because I do tend to drift more towards paranormal. If I have time, I'll pick up The Red Tent as well. Haha. I have a serious issue with adding more and more books to my TBR shelf.
For Tosca I would like to recommend Trash Sex Magic by Jennifer Stevenson, easily one of the most unusual and original romantic fantasies I've ever read. It's a shame this book isn't more well known. I hope you enjoy it, Tosca!
Ok Kristen, your impressive TBR made it hard for me to make a recommendation, but I think I got it - The Red Tent (if you feel like historical fiction) or A Certain Slant of Light (some romance, some paranormal stuff). Whichever you like best, The Red Tent is one of my all time favorites tough.
Sarah wrote: "My pick for Annvelwis is Tiger Eye by Marjorie M. Liu. I really liked this first book in the Dirk & Steele series."
Thank you! :)) I think I'll like it :D
Mel, I pick Howling at the Moon by Karen MacInerney for you. If you'd rather something else, I recommend Wondrous Strange by Lesley Livingston. I've noticed you liked Wicked Lovely so I think you might enjoy it.
Melissa wrote: "OK, Kasia - You've read A LOT! My first choice for you is The Automatic Detective by A. Lee Martinez. It's a sort of sci fi mystery, but a little light on the sci fi. One of my ve..."Thanks Melissa! I'm so excited!!! I haven't heard about either of those books, and that's a good thing.

Thanks Yz, I'm looking forward to reading this book. I just ordered it from Amazon, hopefully it will be here soon. I have faith in your choice though as I loved the Nalini Singh book's you recommended to me. I do love PNR, I started reading about Vamps, Witches etc as a kid and it's never left me...
Michelle,
It was fun browsing through your shelves, and we have so many books in common. However, that makes it slightly difficult to find a good one that you don't have already on your list.
I'm going to recommend Hotter After Midnight by Cynthia Eden. You have mentioned that you enjoy PNR more than any other genre, and this is a hot romance between an alpha werewolf and a human with a "special" gift. I enjoyed this book very much, devouring it in one day.
I hope you'll have as much fun reading it as I did.
