Revive a Dead Thread >
We have our JUNE group read WINNERS!!
Nominations have been closed. We have over 50 books to vote on!! Great job everyone! And the lists look amazing.
I will be creating a poll shortly for each catagory. Wait until you see the title of this thread change to VOTING IS OPEN and then you will have until Sunday to cast your two votes.
Thanks again everyone!
Let's get nominating... I almost forgot it's past the middle of the month already! Where DOES the time go??
We will have two catagories this month:
Cat1- Regular Fiction/Non-Fiction
Cat2- Summer Read (classics)
I chose classics because the begining of the summer is when most bookstores will stack up and display the oldies but goodies, with signs for "summer reading"....
One nomination per person.
Please be sure to post the title, author, and the catagory it belongs to.
If your post does not have those three things, it will not be counted.
Are you ready?
I will leave nominations open until Wednesday.....
Go.....
Category 2--Dracula--Bram Stoker
Hey its a classic! :D
((So I can't give a recommendation for Category 1 now?))
Lori wrote: "Wow, I guess classics was a good choice huh??????"Brilliant Lori!! perfect for us o-fo's ; )
Lori wrote: "Wow, I guess classics was a good choice huh??????"Yes!!! And btw Lisa - I was also considering nominating The Three Musketeers! :)
Patricia: You are only able to pick one category to nominate..just thought you might want to know so you can edit your post and just pick one so that your nomination will count! :)
Yvonne - You're going to want to do this: "Please be sure to post the title, author, and the catagory it belongs to." Otherwise, your nomination won't be accepted. Anne Frank is a great choice, though.
Kyle wrote: "Category 2--Dracula--Bram Stoker"Kyle, this was our group read back in October. I'm pretty sure we don't choose them twice, so you probably need to nominate something else. Great book though! :-)
Cat 2 - The Power of One - Bryce Courtenay (I'm not sure how "classic" it is, but I found it on the summer reading table in B&N)

Psst you can only choose one category.

Jen, in my book, The Power of One is a classic, and on my top 10 list!
At one time there had been a sugestion that we would have a World War II themed group read for June. Don't worry, I'm not suggesting that we should now do that; let's stick with the selected agenda.
However, because of that, "Gravity's Rainbow" got stuck in my mind as a June read. Also, I really need an excuse to finally finish this book.
So I'm nominating for Category 1:
Gravity's Rainbow by Thomas Pynchon
Category 2: The Phantom of the Opera by Gaston Leroux.Because too many people have seen the musical and not read the book.

Thanks!

Me too! The one that stuck in mine is The English Patient. So I nominate...
The English Patient by Michael Ondaatje for category 1. ;)
