Salem's Lot was ok. But when you have a dad who rarely read books, much less a fiction, and then he suddenly tells you about a book that gave him quite a scare as a teen, of course you would expect it to be a bit more scary.

Agree on Historian. Very disappointing. Stupid plot device (a drink that gave selective amnesia to the protagonist. Seriously??) Boring book overall.
