1895628 Armchair travelers unite!
June 21 - Sept 21 (first & last days of summer)

Option #1:
Around the World in 80 Days:
(Already read the Jules Verne classic novel)
Read a book set somewhere on each continent:

Asia:
Africa:
North America: The Quilter's Kitchen An Elm Creek Quilts Novel with Recipes by Jennifer Chiaverini 7/16/09
South America: The Alibi by Isaac Asimov 9/13/09
Antarctica: Ice Cave by Emmy Lou Schenk 7/11/09
Europe: The Girl on the Dock A Dark Fairy Tale by G. Norman Lippert England 7/14/09
Australia: The Interview by Elizabeth Rose 9/13/09

Add-ons:
For the seasoned traveler:
Read a 2nd book for each continent (or country), non-fiction (or based on a true story/person).

Option 1 add-ons:
Option 2 add-ons:
1. Under the Tuscan Sun by Frances Mayes (Italy - memoir) 6/29/09
2. Trail of Crumbs: Hunger, Love, and the Search for Home by Kim Sunée (France - memoir) 7/9/09

I read 7 books, but didn't fully complete either option. I listed them as add-on's for option 2 because they were non-fiction memoir's. I fully intended to read more for this but my brother's unexpected death made reading difficult for awhile.

But you made a big dent in it. Good job. And if it's of any consolation. I did not make this one either:

Option #1:
Around the World in 80 Days:
Read a book set somewhere on each continent (Asia, Africa, North America, South America, Antarctica, Europe, and Australia).

1. Beauty and Sadness (Asia: Japan)
2. Bel Canto (South America)
3. Icebound* (Arctic)
4. Geek Love (North America: Portland, USA)
5. Crap at the Environment (Australia)
6. Half of a Yellow Sun (Africa)
7. Welcome To The Real World (Europe: UK)

* Arctic instead of Antarctica, and I did not even finish it! It was supposed to be a gripping horror, but I hated the premise and was bored to death with the storyline. Sigh.

1995888 Cool challenge, cheers to Melody and Kasia! Just been having a look round the net and it seems like Antartica is the perfect spot for your psycho killer to go on holiday :) there are a boatload of crime novels set there - anyone found any Antartican romance?

Option #1:

Read a book set somewhere on each continent:

Asia: Lessons to Learn by Natasha Judd (Korea)
Africa: Lulu in Marrakech by Diane Johnson (Morocco)
North America: How the Light Gets In by MJ Hyland (USA)

Antarctica: Cold Skin by Albert Sánchez Piñol, or if that gets too weird, Dark Winter by William Dietrich

Australia: Bought For The Marriage Bed by Melanie Milburn (I just have to read this one for the shy virginal librarian who finds herself mistaken for her LESS shy and virginal twin)
