ugh they're making a movie another vampire teen movie...yay!...UGH! I dont know about you guys but I saw New Moon and I wanted to hurl myself down the stairs of the theater. I mean dont get me wrong...I thought New Moon was ok as a book but on the screen...God awful. To think they will do that with House of Night...is painful. Sure there will be alot more action but you know there are few books that once they make them into movies they get better. Not to mention there are times i think the author is trying to hard to make things sound a certain way take Kramisha...I get the author is trying to make the character a very urban African American teen...yeah but sorry...I grew up in a urban neighborhood..yeah not even close...the way she is written makes her sound stupid. She's a school kid...which means by high school she would have learned to talk..maybe with a little urban sprinkling in there but not so gut wrenchingly bad as she is written. Now imagine this on the big screen...scary isnt it. I think what would happen is you would loose the characters and they will fall flat. Its not like a novel where you can go back and re-read or imagine more to a character. Movies lay bare the power of the author's writing. Sure they have been bad adaptations where the director missed the mark but think of books that have alot of characters to keep up with. What usually happens...you get confused or lost. Anything over four most people cant follow. Why did the Lord of the Rings work...cause those suckers broke away from each other and each had a storyline of their own to follow related to the main quest. Zoey in this book deals with alot of people...you have all the red fledglings whom I can barely keep straight...the blue...then the professors, the nuns...too many people essential to the storyline to cut and too confusing to keep up with on the screen. It will be ugly...so not looking forward to it.
I don't exactly like the books so I'm pretty sure I won't like the movies but you never know I guess.
I don't think I'll like the movies... This just seems like one of those books that just aren't meant to be "moviefied".
I am not surprised since it is about vampires... seems those books are becoming movies left and right.
The books have been optioned for a movie for a few years and screenplay was completed in late October/early November so it will be awhile. Michael Birnbaum at Empire Pictures is producing it
I know! That was weird for me, cuz all the books are so long, but they're set in such a small amount of time.
Just now reading Hunted.. I like the direction that book is taking. Though it is surpring to me that the first five books are all taking place in just a few months!
I've read all of them, and I loved the series. Marked was kinda boring at first, but I learned to love gradually.
~♡Katie♡~ wrote: "yeah i didnt like marked that much but i did think they got better apart from the latest" lmao yes i am making my way sloowwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwly through it lol. thanx for the comment :)
I can not get into them yet I have bought Marked from the book store and wish I had checked it out instead its a slow start but i want it to be a good read. Maybe during my break from college I can get through it . :)
just finished tempted yesterday and i was actually disappointed with the whole book especially the ending. i did however give the book 3 stars but that was just for stark whom i love even more than before. i thought this series was getting better until now. i will still read burned just to see if it picks up and see what will happen with some of the characters especially stark
I think sometimes they do it on purpose or either they are overexcited about it. I dunno. I wish had like a pair of earplugs when they want to spill the beans about a book! =0

I need to talk about the "Tempted" #6 House of Night.. I just read it and I just soooo upset about it....someone feel the same way here?
I can't stand the twins either. Oh wait. I am sorry. I can't stand the Twins. (Can't forget to capitalize it!) Ugh!
@Angie - You are not alone. I just went to an event with PC & Kristin Cast and Kristin apparently also hates the twins - lol!
I have to say I hate the twins. I really find those two characters annoying! UGGHH! I hate how they talk. Twin this and Twin that. Otherwise I am enjoying the series now that I am on book 4.
I thought book one was alright then book 2 got a little worse then I got to book 3. Ugh..I didnt like it all. It was almost to much for me to handle, but I wanted to see what happened so I kept reading. All I have to say is the series gets much better after the 3rd book!
i've read the five books that are currently out and while i loved the first couple of them i just can't seem to get past the fact that throughout the whole thing she keeps going back to different people is not even a triangle is more like a square. besides that the story is pretty interesting. if you want to read a non-typical vampire story this is for you. if you don't mind the whole teen angst of liking 3 to 4 people at the same time.

Yeah, Aphrodite is way cooler than Zoey.

Yep. I agree. It's kinda sad that hardly anyone likes the main character.
Someone will have to tell me who Zoey picks in the end, I just can't get myself to read any more books -- I've read them all up until Hunted and they just got on my nerves. Does anyone else think that the author(s) is trying too hard to sound hip and young? And Zoey was eternally making me roll my eyes, she can make some pretty bad decisions (again, and again, and . . .)
It's pretty bad when I turned out liking that Aphrodite chick more than the main character -- I have to admit, she can be pretty hilarious! Even though she is clearly a witch sometimes, she seems to have a better head on her shoulders.
There are cool elements in this series but I just couldn't get past all the other "stuff". :(

I could type everything you said, Jill! I quit after book 5...I got so tired of Zoey too!!! She was so perfect, everyone wanted her...blech.
Rebecca, it annoyed me because the style was very much like a high school series sort of story (which, I know, it actually is). I think I read too many epic fantasies and felt abit lost without the setup lol. Also the first book felt bimbotic.. tho they end nicely and makes me want to read the next book. Story really gets better as I went to the later books though.
blucat that is what I loved about Marked. She just jumped right into it, and right away it grabs you because you dont have to wade through the setup
I just picked up the first book. I am almost done and I am waiting for the second from the library. I can't wait. If you haven't checked out the house of night website do it, its great fun.
First I heard there was going to be nine books, and then I heard there was going to be twelve. So I have no idea ... O.o
I wonder how many more books are going to be in this series? I like the development of the story and characters tho the first book was really annoying cos I felt it jumped straight into the world without any proper setup but then again, am a tad uptight about structure and stuffs.. heheh.I think Zoe is just like a normal teenager, so many guys to choose from, put them in a basket and choose one soon, plus her status and powers doesnt make the decision making any easier..

Darius. i think that's his name. XD I agree ... Zoey should go with Stark. I like Stark. He's not creepy/possessive like Erik or annoying like Heath. He's purty awesome. Kalona creeps me out. O_O lol
I think the series is fun but I do have my complaints also. It's a YA series and there is a love square or more I don't know with the demon love thing. What is this teaching YA's to try every Tom,Dick and Harry! I know it is hard to chose one perfect love for everyone, But she has strong feelings for everyone and they always add another! Let her meet a real man that Zoey has to work a little harder for him to love her. I like Eric a lot then they had to make him all whipped too! Jez!

True! And Aphrodite's been with that one guy for a long time now (haven't read the series in months so I can't remember his name). I really just want her to pick stark. Better yet she shouldn't get stark, cuz she doesn't even deserve him! But she has lots of cool powers so w.e. How many ppl think that Kalona is sexy?
