642041 Yeah, he has said he wants to go back to his cabin in New Hampshire... but it's not like they work 365 days a year...

289556 He did live with his mother until she entered a nursing home for a heart condition, but that was before he became a justice. He's never been married.

26185 Doesn't he live with his mother and he's never been married?

289556 I'm not surprised. According to The Nine - Inside the Secret World of the Supreme Court by Jeffrey Toobin, Souter always hated living in D.C.

He's an odd duck, who prefers living in the country in relative solitude. He's kind of a Luddite, too.

642041 I find it kind of funny that he would be the first, when he is younger and in better health than at least two others of his general voting bloc. I'm happy to see Ginsburg fighting it out and staying on, but I wouldn't be surprised if Obama had to replace a few of them during this term, since it's the first chance in eight years they've had to contemplate retirement.

The Post re-published one of their early articles on him today. It's kind of funny. He certainly didn't do what they expected him to when Bush the first appointed him.

1144499 It's the wrong one retiring. That's what I think.

What do you think? What are the implications?
