Jason--enjoying this book immensely!! I'm only on chapter two, but just wanted to let you know that this is absolutely wonderful. Some of it is a little over my head, but I really am enjoying this--THANK YOU for choosing this book. It couldn't have come at a better time.
Blessings and looking forward to joining in the discussion. :)
I'm in on reading the book, but I've already ordered it, so don't count me in as needing the book still. Looking forward to reading it with you guys!
Hi Bob--Thanks for the info. As always--you're a wealth!! :)
Jason--I think I might try and go the Ligonier route first since I have my own blog and from time to time do book reviews on it. Thanks so much!! I'll let you know how it turns out. I don't want to say no just yet in case their policy has changed.
Blessings!! :) Looking VERY forward to it. :)
thanks bob that's what I thinking :) How many people would be willing to buy the book and what kind of price would make it affordable. There is a chance I could find a deal (I have some connections :P ). I would need to know how many people are will to buy the book. The book is about $16 on amazon I am not sure I can do a whole lot better. It is an expensive book but $16 for a 500pg hardcover with kingdom worth is good price.
Good to see you on here, too Kim. I have lots going on but I'll try to contribute to discussions here from time to time. I love Goodreads.
Anyone can get the book free by .pdf if they have a blog and pledge to review it on their blog. You can request up to 2 Reformation Trust books. Details here: http://www.ligonier.org/publishing_refor...
Hi Jason--Wow! What a great deal. Right now, we're on a very restricted budget so I'll need to see if I can maybe borrow it from someone. Does anyone know if any of the free online books website might have it or at least some popular free online book website to start looking? Thanks. Looking forward to it. Read the description and this looks really great! Thanks! :)
Howdy Bob!! *hand waving* It's Kim from Facebook and your blog. Very cool to *see* you here. Are you going to join the discussion--with all of your free time??--haahaa Did you join the Reformed Readers discussion group too? It would very great to have you on here--I know you're super busy--so I won't hold my breath--but at least wanted to say hi--**HI**!! Blessings from Kim from CT. :)
Check out this deal 4 books for $36. It's called the Calvin pack. One of the books is the one we are reading. http://www.heritagebooks.org/bookstore/c...This is the book store for the Beeke's collage, The Puritan Reformed Seminary.
I'm about half way through the book, although I'm stuck with a .pdf copy until I finish it and post a review on my blog.... Great book, I learned a lot and I think some of the best parts are yet to come.
Hi Jason--I'm in. I just need to get the book. I'll probably try and borrow it from someone. Have you already started?
I also kept John Piper on there because it's the kinda book you can read on and off. I like to pick it up on Sunday afternoons sometimes. It's also a good book for Saturday night before communion.
I added Living for God's Glory An Introduction to Calvinismto our book shelf. I have already started reading it, although not at the beginning. The chapter on the Puritan Marriage is worth the price of the book. So far it's a great book. I look up other people on goodreads that had the book on their book shelf and invited them to read it with us. I would like to be through the first chapter in about 2 weeks or so. We can read 1 chapter a week and use the discussion questions at the end of each chapter. There are 28 chapters and most are only 10 or 15 pages. Some of the chapter titles are Puritan Evangelism, The Origins of Calvinism, and Calvin’s God Exalting Piety. Seeing that the name of this group is Reformed Readers and it’s the 500th anniversary of Calvin’s birth this will be an excellent book to read.
