Here's the link if you're interested. There are a few other desktops from fantasy authors on there.
Laura, I have been out at our local theme park with my husband and sons. DD was away with another family she sees once a month.
Wow, could it be that everyone is READING their YA book somewhere?
Kinda quiet in here.....
*echoes*
I just picked up Graveyard yesterday, and there are some great illustrations in there - wasn't really expecting them!
I really hope you get a chance to read it, JG. I think you will really like it! (I think you have wonderful taste too, by the way :)Reading on the beach sounds like heaven! What a perfect way to kick off summer!
I was just told that I HAVE to read that by my much-younger cousins. They have good taste, and I know you do too, so I'll have to pick it up soon. I'm going to the beach on vacation in a couple of weeks, and I've been toying with the idea of using that time to catch up on some of these children's/YA books I keep meaning to read. Maybe I'll get to it if I decide to do that.
I'm pretty cautious myself, JG. Maybe I'll just hold off on that one for a few more years. We're currently reading The Tale of Despereaux together and loving it!
Eight might be a little young. I was thinking 10 or 11 would be okay. Does anyone else have any thoughts? I don't have kids, and I think I tend to err on the side of caution.
I have two boys, ages 8 and 2. Do you think it would be ok for my 8 year old? I was wondering if it might be too creepy for him. What do you think?
Graveyard will be my first Gaiman book...I'm excited! I just checked my library's website and they have a copy available. I'm heading over first thing tomorrow morning!
Two fantastic books! Thanks for voting, everyone! Now I just hope you like Graveyard...
But I know you will!

Perfect!
Stupid GR died on me.Anyway - I agree - let's tie them seeing as feeling was pretty strong for both books and I don't want a fight on our hands.
Polls are now over guys and the winners are:
Anne of Green Gables
and
The Graveyard Book! WOOWOO I'll put the discussion topics up if GR doesn't blip on me again.
I say do it Fiona...end it now and we have two books to read this month...Also this could help with the YA challenge. Just my 2 cents.
It's a close run.Although if people want (as they seem to!) I could end it early and have them both as group reads? That would suit us all as it gives variety. And then we could just get on with it because I don't think any other books are going to come close to Ann/Graveyard.
A number of people, like myself, have changed our votes from our originals to one of the front runners.
The problem seems that we are also split down the middle.
But this is cool.

I also like the idea of both books. It gives a choice.
Susan wrote: "Hmmmm, maybe I should change my vote and break the tie...."
Maybe, depends on how you want to change it... lol jk
Laura wrote: "I voted for Graveyard because I read Anne on January 1 of this year. So, too soon for a re-read. Plus, I love Gaiman."
yeah, I really want to read it too...I just like being difficult ;)
I voted for Graveyard because I read Anne on January 1 of this year. So, too soon for a re-read. Plus, I love Gaiman.
yeah, its easy for me to say since I've already read Anne 100 times...but I think we should read both :D
whatever the mod votes for should automatically be the winner in the case of a tie.
And gosh Fiona, didn't you vote for Anne?
er...so I suppose Laura voted for Graveyard?
well....Anne comes first alphebetically! Duh, it wins :D
We could either read the top two, although for a small(ish) group I think it might be better if we do as Laura says and vote off - either way the poll doesn't stop running till tomorrow so there is still time for definitive votes!
