I found a computer desktop from his publisher(?) with one of the illustrations. Here's the link if you're interested. There are a few other desktops from fantasy authors on there.

1394928 You ARE allowed to have a life outside GR, Titch! Been reading too, I'm sure, if I know you!

:)

message 160: by Fiona (Titch) (new)

402486 Laura, I have been out at our local theme park with my husband and sons. DD was away with another family she sees once a month.

message 159: by Laura, PetalsOnTheWind (new)

1394928 Wow, could it be that everyone is READING their YA book somewhere?

Kinda quiet in here.....

*echoes*

1394928 I just picked up Graveyard yesterday, and there are some great illustrations in there - wasn't really expecting them!

message 157: by Heather (new)

1412137 I really hope you get a chance to read it, JG. I think you will really like it! (I think you have wonderful taste too, by the way :)

Reading on the beach sounds like heaven! What a perfect way to kick off summer!

message 156: by JG (new)

48404 I was just told that I HAVE to read that by my much-younger cousins. They have good taste, and I know you do too, so I'll have to pick it up soon. I'm going to the beach on vacation in a couple of weeks, and I've been toying with the idea of using that time to catch up on some of these children's/YA books I keep meaning to read. Maybe I'll get to it if I decide to do that.

message 155: by Heather (new)

1412137 I'm pretty cautious myself, JG. Maybe I'll just hold off on that one for a few more years. We're currently reading The Tale of Despereaux together and loving it!

message 154: by JG (new)

48404 Eight might be a little young. I was thinking 10 or 11 would be okay. Does anyone else have any thoughts? I don't have kids, and I think I tend to err on the side of caution.

message 153: by Heather (new)

1412137 I have two boys, ages 8 and 2. Do you think it would be ok for my 8 year old? I was wondering if it might be too creepy for him. What do you think?

message 152: by JG (new)

48404 How old are your kids, Heather? They might like it too.

message 151: by Heather (new)

1412137 Graveyard will be my first Gaiman book...I'm excited! I just checked my library's website and they have a copy available. I'm heading over first thing tomorrow morning!

message 150: by Becky (new)

1376766 Yes... I'm sure that I will. :)

message 149: by JG (new)

48404 Two fantastic books! Thanks for voting, everyone!

Now I just hope you like Graveyard...

But I know you will!

Perfect!

message 147: by Linda Grace (new)

1939651 Fiona, GR died on me too. I think it was down for everyone... :S

message 146: by Linda Grace (new)

1939651 Becky, that's what I'm doing as well! :)

message 145: by Becky (new)

1376766 This is great. Now I can read The Graveyard Book for 30.1, and Anne for 30.2. :D

message 144: by Fiona, Tweetacular (new)

1356469 Stupid GR died on me.

Anyway - I agree - let's tie them seeing as feeling was pretty strong for both books and I don't want a fight on our hands.

Polls are now over guys and the winners are:

Anne of Green Gables

and

The Graveyard Book! WOOWOO I'll put the discussion topics up if GR doesn't blip on me again.

message 143: by Laura, PetalsOnTheWind (new)

1394928 I'll add mine too. Now you have FOUR cents.

message 142: by Lisa Julianna (new)

1540288 I say do it Fiona...end it now and we have two books to read this month...Also this could help with the YA challenge. Just my 2 cents.

message 141: by Fiona, Tweetacular (new)

1356469 It's a close run.

Although if people want (as they seem to!) I could end it early and have them both as group reads? That would suit us all as it gives variety. And then we could just get on with it because I don't think any other books are going to come close to Ann/Graveyard.

message 140: by Mosca (new)

1837675 A number of people, like myself, have changed our votes from our originals to one of the front runners.

The problem seems that we are also split down the middle.

But this is cool.

message 139: by Fiona (Titch) (new)

402486 GO GRAVEYARD!

2106862 Kathryn wrote: "I liked the idea of reading both..."

I also like the idea of both books. It gives a choice.

message 137: by Kathryn (new)

1696615 I liked the idea of reading both...

message 136: by Becky (new)

1376766 Fiona wrote: "No! "

Gosh, you NEVER do what I want! ;)

message 135: by Susan (new)

1435598 Nahhhhh, I'll be happy to read both....

message 134: by Kathryn (new)

1696615 Susan wrote: "Hmmmm, maybe I should change my vote and break the tie...."

Maybe, depends on how you want to change it... lol jk

message 133: by Susan (new)

1435598 Hmmmm, maybe I should change my vote and break the tie....

message 132: by Fiona, Tweetacular (new)

1356469 No!

message 131: by Becky (new)

1376766 Whatever it is, I think you should end the poll already so I can plan my challenge list!! LOL

message 130: by Allison (new)

1637878 Laura wrote: "I voted for Graveyard because I read Anne on January 1 of this year. So, too soon for a re-read. Plus, I love Gaiman."

yeah, I really want to read it too...I just like being difficult ;)

message 129: by Becky (new)

1376766 Allison wrote: "cause I really want to read Graveyard :P"

Then vote for Graveyard... Silly girl!

message 128: by Laura, PetalsOnTheWind (new)

1394928 I voted for Graveyard because I read Anne on January 1 of this year. So, too soon for a re-read. Plus, I love Gaiman.

message 127: by Allison (new)

1637878 cause I really want to read Graveyard :P

message 126: by Allison (new)

1637878 yeah, its easy for me to say since I've already read Anne 100 times...but I think we should read both :D

message 125: by Fiona, Tweetacular (new)

1356469 :P if you're lucky they'll both get in :P

message 124: by Allison (new)

1637878 whatever the mod votes for should automatically be the winner in the case of a tie.

And gosh Fiona, didn't you vote for Anne?

er...so I suppose Laura voted for Graveyard?

well....Anne comes first alphebetically! Duh, it wins :D

message 123: by Beth (new)

688928 It's a good idea!

message 122: by Fiona, Tweetacular (new)

1356469 Maybe. If both tie... or not?

What says everyone?

message 121: by Laura, PetalsOnTheWind (new)

1394928 It would help for the Challenge.

message 120: by Laura, PetalsOnTheWind (new)

1394928 You think we should read both?

message 119: by Fiona, Tweetacular (new)

1356469 This is like a horse race. :P

message 118: by Kathryn (new)

1696615 Come on, Anne!!! You can do it!!!

message 117: by Kandice (new)

1396160 Since Maus was clearly not going to win, I changed my vote.

message 116: by Becky (new)

1376766 Graveyard is ahead...

message 115: by Fiona, Tweetacular (new)

1356469 We could either read the top two, although for a small(ish) group I think it might be better if we do as Laura says and vote off - either way the poll doesn't stop running till tomorrow so there is still time for definitive votes!

message 114: by Laura, PetalsOnTheWind (new)

1394928 3 or 4 that is....

message 113: by Fiona (Titch) (new)

402486 Wonder if we have to read both

*thinks if she can get an audio for either or both lol*
