I put a book in there once to try it out, decided that feature is not for me and now want to clear it out. But now that I've used it once, it won't let me just switch books. I HAVE to put in a page number or comment. I don't want to put in a page number or comment. I just want it to say which book I am reading and get rid of the listing for the silly zombie book that I finished 3 days ago. Is there a way to delete this feature entirely? I tried to find it and didn't. Thanks.

The only books that show in this area of your profile are books on your 'Currently-Reading' bookshelf. Just change the bookshelf of the book you don't want to see to either 'Read' or 'To-Read' or any other exclusive shelf and it will be removed from this area on your profile.

I did change it to "read". But the status update is still showing it. It's the status update part I want to get rid of, not the thing showing the books I'm currently reading. Sorry that I was unclear.

Tamara, I think that area will always show whatever your last status update was, but when you click on "update status" it should allow you to select a different book from your "currently-reading" list.

Sorry - didn't realize it was a different area then your currently reading section. I haven't seen the status update area - I'll have to go look :)

I can get it to put a different book in, IF I enter which page number I'm on or write a comment. What I want to do is blank it out altogether. I don't want there to be any book in that feature any more, because I don't want to update it or worry that I'm 17 books behind because I forgot about it. I'm fine that it lists my most current "currently reading". What I want it not to do is list any "is on page X of XXXbook". But the only way I can get it to change is if I put a new book AND page number in. And I don't have time to micromanage my site that way...

On this page, look to the right. There should be a link that says "delete this update." See if that does what you want.

That will actually delete the update, though, as opposed to merely removing it from the profile.

Tamara, I don't think there's a way to stop showing that update yet -- perhaps the GR staff will provide one once they read your post -- but if you'd like a workaround for now, you could do this: in that section, at the end of the list of your currently-reading books is the choice "add a general status update". You could put some message in there which you won't mind seeing on the page (like "I'm not going to use these status updates", perhaps!) and leave that there as your status....

Considering the original comment asked if there was a way to delete the entire feature, I was thinking deleting the update would be acceptable.
