2103611 What do you think happens when you die and can you prove that what you say is true?

message 2: by Marley (new)

1715064 When you die, they take you and do two things

1) Burn you, and scatter your ashes
2) Put you in a casket and bury you

Or possibly, 3) Throw you in a lake

I mean, more specifically. Do you think we just die and then rot in the ground? We have no souls that go anywhere or anything?

I'm speaking more of the after-life, if there is any. Or Karma. Whatever you think.

What is the purpose of reincarnation if you go to Heaven/Hell. Is it just randomly one of the three? Please explain, just wondering.

message 6: by Ben (new)

1722484 maybe someone doesnt completely "deserve" the right 2 go 2 heaven so you get a second chance or God gives you the option After you get 2 heaven 2 go back 2 eath and b a "Guardian Angel" a lot of the things i believe now dont make sence. maybe its all just wishfull thinking. idk but its what i believe :)

message 7: by Ninja (new)

2103611 Well what if you're wrong in what you believe? What then?

message 8: by Ben (new)

1722484 idk ill just have 2 wait and find out thats all ne of us can do no one KNOWS whats gona happen thats y they call it Faith

You're right, you've just got to have faith. Just be sure you've got faith in the right thing! :)

So how do you get to Heaven or end up in hell or get a second chance?

message 10: by Lauren, the radical atheist...beware! (new)

1867491 I <3 you Marley.

Yeah, cause if you've got faith in the wrong thing, you suffer forever. X)

Depending on the situation, my organs will be donated or everything goes to science.

1900806 When you die, you'll resurrect someday. Oh yeah, you'll be judged and then sent to the kingdom you'll go to in heaven. And 'ya don't wanna go to the Outer Darkness (aka HELL).

I don't think I fit in this group. It's all SHMARTICALz in here...

message 12: by Lauren, the radical atheist...beware! (new)

1867491 No. It's anyone. It's about learning. Listening to other points of view, and deciding what you believe. Some people just already know.

1900806 Ben wrote: "i believe there is a heaven and hell and i also believe in reincarnation"

Eh. I don't say there's anything wrong with that. It's just that I believe that we will resurrect someday. You said God will give you a second chance. But you don't know where your soul will go. You might end up in an animal or bug for all you know. Then how can he judge you?
Here's an article that interesting(ish):

Okay. That makes me feel a bit better.

message 15: by Milana (new)

2055253 I think that we go to our next life.

1900806 I think a bunch of religions have portions what will happen when we die.

message 17: by Ninja (new)

2103611 Milana wrote: "I think that we go to our next life."

And where will that be? You mean like reincarnation?

message 18: by Ninja (new)

So, like everything that every religion says, somehow we will get a mix of that?

Exactly, good point, thank you! :)

What about an afterlife, if there is any? I don't mean what happens to your body, I'm speaking more of your soul (if you believe that exists).

1900806 I still don't believe in reincarnation. While we're here on earth, we're being tested. God will judge us by our actions when we die. We'll be sent to one of the kingdoms. If we sin, we can repent.

message 22: by Lauren, the radical atheist...beware! (new)

1867491 There is no separation of mind and body. The mind does not exist outside of the brain. When the body dies, the mind dies, because they are one.

The 'soul' is a trick, if you will, of how we think. We think that we're inside the body controlling it, but really we are the body. That's why brain damage can change people's personalities.

message 23: by Milana (new)

2055253 yeah, like reincarnation. we could be a different animal or even a different race.

message 24: by Ben (new)

1722484 i like animals

message 25: by Milana (new)

2055253 Animals are soooooo cute! Well, not cockroaches, but all other animals are adorable!

message 26: by Ben (new)

1722484 most other animals r cute naked mole-rats r nasty lookin me n my friend r gettin a chinchilla after we move out n get an apartment

1900806 I like animals, but I don't believe in reincarnation. Can you guys explain what you're thinking about the whole reincarnation thing?

message 28: by Ben (new)

1722484 nope cuz i dont realy understand it myself

message 29: by Ninja (new)

2103611 Ben wrote: "nope cuz i dont realy understand it myself"

Wait, to you believe in reincarnation?

message 30: by Ninja (new)

2103611 Milana wrote: "yeah, like reincarnation. we could be a different animal or even a different race."

So do we keep reincarnating forever?

message 31: by Ninja (new)

What if you are wrong?

message 32: by Lauren, the radical atheist...beware! (new)

1867491 You would keep reincarnating, until you got enough good karma for nirvana, a state of ultimate peace. Allegedly.

What makes one religion right and the other wrong? Based on available facts, the odds are that none of them are right anyway.

message 33: by Ben (new)

1722484 very true, thats y i believe what i do, i believe in the posibility that ne or all religions r right

message 34: by Milana (new)

2055253 Yeah, we would keep reincarnating.

message 35: by Ben (new)

1722484 not many people r on 2day

message 36: by Lauren, the radical atheist...beware! (new)

1867491 How could all religions be right? The very notion of having hells prevents them from being right. By following one, you damn yourself in all the others.

1089844 actually they could all be right. If all religions are right it may just depend on which one you are. They may not all be right all the time but they may all be real. Maybe God did create the world but maybe he didn't create people and so on.

message 38: by Ben (new)

So how dd we get here if God didn't create us but he exists? Evolution after he made the planets and such?

message 40: by Lauren, the radical atheist...beware! (new)

1867491 He becomes unnecessary then. In philosophy, Occham's Razor tells us we have no reason to believe in something that takes such a huge leap. The simplest idea that assumes the least should be considered correct. If we have God, then who made him? Then who made that guy? It's an infinite regress of improbability, till it approaches 0. And if you think God was always there, then cut the middle man and say the universe was always there.

1900806 Ben wrote: "nope cuz i dont realy understand it myself"

F**k

That or someone else's god or godess

message 44: by Milana (new)

2055253 yeah, they could all be right

message 45: by Ninja (new)

2103611 Anuhea -JePOw!- wrote: "How do you know that I'm wrong and you're right? "

Did I say I was right?

message 46: by Lauren, the radical atheist...beware! (new)

1867491 It can't all be right. The improbability is practically zero. There are too many conflicts about fundamental concepts. Every creation story is different. Even past religions, like the Egyptian and Romans. Different rules, everything.

message 47: by GreenDaisy BlackStem (last edited Apr 26, 2009 03:10PM) (new)

1089844 I didn't say it was all right I said it could all be real. Not all of it can be right all the time but it can all exist

message 48: by Lauren, the radical atheist...beware! (new)

1867491 How so, can it all exist, yet not all be real?

message 49: by Ninja (new)

Yes, ditto the question. How can it all be real but not true?

Ya, there are just too many conflicts for them to all be right.
