83445 SF Squirrel, Not really a major issue. No need to apologize.

83445 Fourth who says the same! (However, that when I first joined groups I used to do so manually, I was grateful that Otis & Co. had recently allowed us to select mark all read in groups since in three or more of my groups I had a lot of "new" messages. But I'd have been glad even without this feature; it just made things easier.)

1167793 Happened in a group I mod where she is a member and we have a whole thread to celebrate her return, so -- THIRD!

811687 That's why I got a bunch of e-mails about said member making a new comment to a review or post that I was subscribed to even though said member's reply was ages ago. I do agree with Rivka that it's worth it to have her back.

1065804 OK. I was very confused but now it all makes sense. Thanks.

171430 A deleted member was restored. Any thread she posted in (ever) was "re-new-ed". (Totally worth it to have her back.)

The ones from other times had deleted posts in them as well as new ones. One new + one deleted = 0 -- at least the way the system does math. ;)

1065804 Ever since the mark all read option was introduced, I've exclusively used the unread link to read messages in the feedback group and have always clicked "mark all read" when I've finished reading the messages in the topics that sounded interesting. I usually have no more than 8 threads with unread messages waiting for me each time I check. For a day or two, when I would click on unread messages in the feedback group, there might be one or two that would show up without a red "# new" indicator. If I clicked on the threads anyway, there was typically something new.

This morning, when I clicked on unread messages, I was presented with 5 pages of unread threads, the vast majority of which all indicated the exact same time since last updated. When I started reading these threads, I discovered that many have messages going back several months that I had not yet read and most if not all had not been updated in the past several days. Some haven't been updated in years.

Any ideas what happened to suddenly make all these threads appear as unread and, more importantly, why the ones that had been updated didn't show up on the unread page previously and why some threads are listed on the unread page but don't indicate a number of new messages?
