1405910 I just thought of this right this minute, but I noticed in the latest splurge section, Lori posted a photograph of her finds, and I was thinking it might be a neat idea if members took a picture of their bookcases, just because bragging rights are fun, as is the ability to admire other members' bookcases. I would post mine right now, but I'm at work sans camera and book case pictures.

1356469 I wish I could. :( Alas no camera to do such things with. Mines a shambles though, quite embarrassing.

message 3: by Kristen (new)

327471 Oooh. I'm gonna do this when I get home. I have three though... hehe.

message 4: by Lori, Super Mod (new)

369169 Cool idea. I gotta get snappin'

message 5: by Morgan (new)

2003912 Not to sound stupid... But how do we do that?

take a picture, then post the picture here. (there is a html code you can get right above the comment box where it says "some html is okay")

message 7: by Morgan (new)

2003912 Oh. Thanks!

message 8: by Becky (new)

1376766 I should do this too. Although I'd have to remove all the accumulated junk from mine first. My bookshelves end up being a catch-all for anything that will fit... Which is really kind of ironic because I am such a fanatical book organizer, my books have to be in exactly the right place or it makes me crazy, yet I go and pile loads of crap on top of them. *shrug*

yeah but you have to upload it to photobucket or somewhere first, you can't put it direct from your computer.

1637878 yeah sorry, miss exact. ;)

1637878 <img src="" width="40" height="100" alt="description"/>

use this code, and put your link between the quotation marks toward the beginning.

you know I was kiddin' :D I'm no cowbag!

message 15: by Allison (new)

1637878 oh Morgan...if you use a photobucket link, then you don't need the html code, it is automatically html :) sorry! its all so confusing....

message 16: by Lori, Super Mod (new)

369169 This ones mine, minus all the bags of to be reads that are usually all over the place
my bookcases

My hubbys work case (it sits in this tiny alcove upstairs below a window, thats my giant Jade plant on top!)
hubbys work bookcase

This is the one for the kids upstairs in the hallway, but it also has some of our oddball books on it too
kids bookcase

I have one more 5 shelver in the computer room, but its too blocked up for me to take a photo of it. Its 2 shelves of my Stephen King and Chick lit novels (they didnt rate for the living room!) and the other 3 are the kids books ....

message 17: by Fiona (new)

1356469 Pretty bookshelves Lori. I really wanna show mine, but then you might see exactly how untidy my bedroom is, lol.

message 18: by Allison (new)

1637878 yeah Lori, pretty!

Fiona! I want to see your bookcase monster :) I'm very intrigued after hearing you talk about it.

message 19: by Lori, Super Mod (new)

369169 I had to straighten up around mine and the kids upstairs.... I didnt want everyone to think I was a slob :P

message 20: by Kandice (new)

1396160 I am going to get Shaun to help take pics of mine.

message 21: by Jessica (new)

1020084 Oh my god, this is an awesome idea! And here I thought I was some kind of freak for liking to see pictures of people's bookshelves! God, I love you guys! :D

I will definately take some pics of my collection tonight to share!

message 22: by April (new)

1405910 Lori, your bookcases are beautiful! I think I have the same black 5-shelf case.

Morgan, I love those types of actual shelves! If we were allowed to nail things at my apartment, I would totally put some up.

message 23: by Saved By Grace (new)

61179 Oooh Lori, I love your bookshelves. And the chair is soooo cool. ^_^

I'd love to post a pic. of mine but it's at home, all I have here are notebooks and college books. Oh--and my 12th grade yearbook. :/

message 24: by Grace (new)

2203681 I'll have to wait until everything is tidied up a bit. My bedroom wasn't in use this winter so it became a bed/storage room.

message 25: by Lori, Super Mod (new)

369169 Thanks April and SBG, That corner of the living room is my favorite spot in the whole house. The mushroom chair is comfy, the throw pillows are cuddly (and a great book rest!) and its the neatest, most organized spot in the whole house. As you can see, I take pride in my shelves, and no one else is allowed to put their books there :)

message 26: by Lori, Super Mod (new)

369169 Now my hubbys case, and the one for the kids.... those are taking quite the beating. Stuff is just chucked in there and they arent as great quality wise!

No hope for me... save yourselves!! I'm a slob and proud! My husband (who is borderline Detective Monk) doesn't quite agree, but opposites attract, as they say! Working on picture now...

message 28: by Lori, Super Mod (new)

369169 C'mon people.... let us see!!! Now I feel like a dork for running around snapping shots to post them.... We need more bookcases!!

message 29: by Dorie (last edited Apr 22, 2009 04:39AM) (new)

1412216 I'd post mine but I can't figure out how to post it. I'm assuming you have to have the picture already somewhere on the internet, right? I'm just stupid I guess. I don't want to sign up for Photobucket just to be able to post one picture.

message 30: by April (new)

1405910 Dorie: http://tinypic.com/

Lori: I'm posting mine today!

message 31: by Carol (last edited Apr 22, 2009 06:44AM) (new)

2046576 Ohhh we need more pictures here!!!!
I´m at work not, but when I get home I´ll try to take some photos!

And by the way, Lori your shelves are lovely *_* Just like the way a shelf needs to be! Full of books, colorful and with books in different positions lol
Now, poor husbund, give him a decent shelf! LOL it´s almost a corner, not a bookshelf haha

Edit: ah! And I want to see your chick-lit shelf hahaha

327471 Alright, I took pics last night, but now I have to upload them to photobucket. Gah. I forgot to email them to myself, so I'll be posting them when I get home from class tonight. Or maybe I'll stop by home in between work and class and post them and eat some dinner... hmmm. Yeah that sounds good.

message 34: by Allison (new)

1637878 Love them April! I am having fun scoping out what all you have :P lol

Two of the books, Rebel Angels and The Sweet Far Thing aren't mine, they are my sisters. Also the second picture, the second shelf from the bottom with the books on their sides contains my boyfriend's books. But everything else is mine! :-D And the second shelf is double stacked as well.

Kristen, I can't wait til you post!!

message 36: by Fiona (new)

1356469 Lol, this is like... bookshelf porn or something here. I'll have to nick my dad's cam and see if I can clean up my room a bit before embarrassing myself.

message 37: by Allison (new)

1637878 course I honed right in on HP.

message 38: by Allison (new)

1637878 is HP #3 missing?

message 39: by Hayes (new)

1724711 I see poisonwood!!

message 40: by Kristen (last edited Apr 22, 2009 07:37AM) (new)

327471 Haha, I've got 4 bookshelves (half of one dedicated to library books) and one of those is my fiance's... and then on the top of my dresser are my recent purchases that I need to read... I can't wait to show you guys how crazy my books are. Although.. when we moved in, my fiance put my books up.. so they're in all sorts of crazy order.. I'm too lazy to fix them.. maybe that will be my summer project.

message 41: by Carol (new)

2046576 Allison wrote: "is HP #3 missing?"

I think it is haha

April, your shelves are amazing haha You are like a library lol I´m really jealous of your hardcover HPs! Actually, of all the hardcover books >.<

The double-parked shelf is funny, it´s sad how sometimes is necessary to double-park them lol

message 42: by April (new)

1405910 Yeah my sister borrowed HP #3 and I never got it back... but it's okay I'll buy a new one somewhere down the road.

message 43: by Lori, Super Mod (new)

369169 April, wow... Nice big FULL bookshelves! I like to snoop too! I saw Water for Elephants in there, Midnite in the Garden... hee hee!

Thanks for posting!

message 44: by Allison (new)

1637878 yeah I saw Midnight in the Garden too...I just picked it up at Goodwill a couple weeks ago but haven't read it yet.

message 45: by Laura (new)

926349 I used to have seven huge bookcases stuffed full of books...I am a HUGE bibliophile and former librarian....BOOKS RULE! (Well, books and Frank Zappa). I was forced by means beyond my control to box up my books, put them in the basement and get rid of my bookcases due to lack of space. We have a very small house and my husband has been remodeling in here for the past 3 YEARS now, I have MS and he is trying to ADA things around here. Right now it looks like a war zone in here. My husband does not understand my passion for books. He thinks that once you've read it, why keep it? He just doesn't get it. We almost went to divorce court over my love of books. I said "Where was I when we met? COLLEGE!!! You knew about my book passion when you married me!!"
Peace, Laura

message 46: by Jessica (new)

1020084 Grr..I cannot get my pics to post! :(

message 47: by April (new)

1405910 Did you try using tinypic?

message 48: by Jessica (new)

1020084 Thanks April! I will try uploading my pics there. So, I don't need the html code if I use the tinypic link? I'm so confused!! :P

message 49: by April (new)

1405910 If you upload on tinypic, there is an html code which you copy paste. That's what I did.

message 50: by Susanna (new)

1109068 I'm not that technologically savvy, and I have too many bookshelves!

I think we don't have bookshelves in the bathrooms. Yet. And that's it.
