Loving everyone's shelves! Emma, I can relate to books taking over one's bedroom. Between books I had to buy for class in the first place, pleasure books, books for research papers and books for my senior thesis, they are everywhere. Before I go to bed at night I have to make sure I can get out in case the fire alarm goes off, haha!

Unfortunately this picture is 2 months old and these shelves are MUCH more cluttered than they used to be, haha.

Sorry for the repeating books-- my bedroom is tiny and it's not possible to take a picture of my full shelf.
These are my favorites. I have another shelf full of school books and stuff I don't particularly care for. A couple years back, I got rid of half my books... I miss being so surrounded by them, but small homes can only take so much.

Not much of a bookcase but hell, I'm a student so I only really need the essentials.

Clearly I have too many books, they've taken over my minuscule room.
My father built this book case a few years ago, and I instantly filled it. All my science fiction and fantasy paperbacks are stored elsewhere.Click the image to view the actual size image in a new window.

Finally got some pictures of my bookshelves and figured out how to do this!!
The box on the side are books for PBS or Bookmooch.

i thought i would let you guys have a look see at some of my books
TBR pile
hopefully getting rid of these soon
books i have read 3 rows and the rest of my older books are put somewhere completely differet
some more books with a few of my dvds
(old wallpaper i dont actually have it anymore i just cant get it covered in the wardrobe)
Wow these shelfs are beautiful! I'm ashamed mine are stacked all over and I have piles all over the bedroom that are starting to drive me crazy I have nowhere to put them all. Time for another shelf I believe :P I live with three obsessed readers under the same roof ,we have a huge shelf but it can't hold anymore!!
Amanda wrote: "It's only been a few weeks and already my bookshelf looks different. Perhaps I should post monthly."yes you should so we can all enjoy!
I'm not sure how to add a picture, but here's a link to a picture from Flickr. This is my "library" ... my husband and I have no children, but a HUGE house, so I designated one of the rooms to be my library. I plan on doing some more decorating in it to make it a little more enjoyable when I go there to read ... maybe add a nice lamp, some greenery, a footstool, a CD player with my favourite classical tunes, etc.Don't mind the feet in the picture ... it was taken for a group where a part of me HAD to be in the picture:

I love organizing this room. I had them in alphabetical order by author, and then the non-fiction books separated by topic, but now I just organized them with books I've read vs. books I've yet to read. I need to catch up! My 'yet to read' section is way bigger than the 'have read' section. :-)

Strike while he iron is hot! Get that bookcase built!
i commented on this pic in the SK fans group but i like how ur friend put his Joe Hill books next to his Stephen King.
Well, this one's not mine but from an older friend who's totally a Stephen King addict. So here goes, ogle you folks...
"Danse Macabre" is the only hardcover he's missing...
My husband really wants to build me one of those bookcases that cover the entire wall and I gotta admit I love the idea, but when I think of my daughters ripping the books off the shelves, a tear runs down my cheek.
My daughters are good with the books but they are also very young so I will give them time to find markers and rip pages out and the sort.

My brother made it for me, actually, so it's all my own!

Jeaaloouusss
Megan, I love the old bookcase from your grandmother. Very lovely, and sentimental too. And I, too, Caught the wand for the HP books.. cute!
Becky wrote: "Katie, maybe you could try shelves that mount on the wall rather than a bookcase?"
thanks for the suggestion but i only have wall free and its above my bed which knowing my luck they would end up falling on me and plus i have too many
i love seeing all your bookshelves but it makes me so jelous as i cant have one as i have no room although i am trying to make the room. all my books are in my wardrobe and i cant see them all either as its deep so i put my books in front of each i cant clear any more shelves as i have far too many dvd's. so the rest of my books are scattered everywhere i have no idea what books i actually have am sure am missing some : (

Finally!!! My sister got me going on this at last.
First up, the beginning of my 'have-reads' and my first bookcase ever- it belonged to my grandmother, she bought it from a secondhand store in the 50s when their house burnt down (pretty cool history for a bookshelf, huh?):
And now for some up-close-and-personal views.
Top two shelves:
And the bottom shelf:
The two bookcases on the other side of my bedroom, the first is still 'have-reads' as is the second, except for the second and third shelves which are library books, books I'm in the middle of, magazines and a huge stack of bookmarks:
Close ups again:
This is my textbook, reference, and miscellanious bookcase:
Dictionaries (and stuff)!
Textbooks and the miscellaneous:
Those are all the bookcases in my room. I have three more in the kitchen/living room area, but it's late... I'll put them up tomorrow.
Twould be bad :( Currently my library books are on a pile on the floor and I am holding on to them until February 1st (when the paper for which they are for is due). I really don't want to trip on them on my way out, so I need something to put them in.
I should really take before and after pictures. LOL I counted 89 books in 12 different stacks on various flat surfaces in just my bedroom alone before Operation Reorganization began. It was really a hazard to my health. I mean, what if I'd been buried under a book avalanche??
Becky wrote: "Thanks Carol! They took me forever to reorganize!"I imagine that, I remember how they were haha
