1690572 See that's how it all begins...I already have my next one marked on the calendar!! Oct. 9-12...lol! I plan ahead!

message 33: by Leslie (new)

591339 Thanks for posting this! I found a great sale over the weekend that I went to with my real life book club friend. I got 6 books for $7, and my friend got I think 6 for $4. On a side note, why are hardcovers twice as expensive at sales? I don't find them to be more desirable than nice paperbacks at all! Although the hardcover that I got of The Yiddish Policemen's Union is in fabulous condition and it's a cool cover, so I guess it's ok to have it in hardcover.

message 34: by Kristin (new)

2234964 there is going to be a book sale at a local church fair, im super excited as saturday 7-9pm is a preview day and then it opens saturday and sunday for a bag sale. Im not sure if you can buy saturday night but i def wanna go and get first dibs if theres anything really good and maybe go back for th ebag sale. I told myself anything I get there i am going to put back for my xmas gifts :D

message 35: by Katie (new)

1283225 For anyone in or near Dayton, Ohio...there's a HUGE book sale at the end of April/beginning of May every year. My friend and I have gone the last 3 years and never regretted the 2 hour drive. I've filled my trunk every time for less than $50. I know it's a long ways off, but worth keeping your eyes and ears open come spring.

I just found one 30 minutes from my house using the site Lori posted. It starts 2 days before my due date and ends the day after. Think baby would mind hanging out a little longer so mommy could go buy more books? ;)

message 36: by Lori, Super Mod (new)

369169 Hahaha!!!

I am glad this link is working out well for most of you. I cant tell you how excited I was when a past member posted it here.... I was in heaven!!!!

I will send good juju to you Katie in the hopes that the baby hangs on a little longer :)

message 37: by vicki_girl (last edited Sep 03, 2009 09:48AM) (new)

1344613 I also found a really great book sale! The sale is Wednesday September 23 through Sunday September 27 in Atlanta, Ga. http://www.bookfairaauw.org/

It's about 2.5 hours away from me, BUT I have to travel for business that weekend, and I will be driving right through Atlanta on that Thursday or Friday. How awesome is that?!

ETA: According to booksalefinder.com they are going to have over 100,000 books for sale...AND all the proceeds go to charity. I don't think it gets any better than this. :)

message 38: by Lori, Super Mod (new)

369169 Isnt it great when we find HUGE sales that we happen to be passing RIGHT by..... !!!

message 39: by Carrie (new)

905116 That book sale in Atlanta looked good to me, Vicki...My best friend is getting married that weekend! DANG!

message 40: by Jayme (new)

2169723 Guess who's going to the VPL for a book sale next week. Thanks for the link Lori!

message 41: by Lori, Super Mod (new)

369169

ur welcome!

message 42: by Jessica (new)

1020084 Damn! Why, oh why did I sign up for their e-mail notification? I just got alerted to 2 HUGE sales this weekend. One sale is at one of my favorite used bookstores in Phoenix, where all books are going to be $1 or $2, and the other is a big church sale with books for 50 cents!

Aaargh, my house it literally being taken over by my books...but I still really, really, really, want to go. What if I find the book I've been hunting for forever?? Seriously, I already have years worth of to-read books at home, I don't need to go...

Sorry, that's just the argument I'm having with myself right now, even though it's pointless. We all know I'm going to go.

message 43: by Lori, Super Mod (new)

369169 Jessica, that is what I tell myself ALL THE TIME.... and it's true! You totally need to go!

I have a pretty good sized one coming up Saturday (the first day was today, but I worked)... I can't wait. Kids are coming with me since the hubby is working, so they will score some books too :)

win win win

2524666 Mt daughter -in-law gave me two web sites that work on the same principal as netflix. For a certain amount each month you can have books delivered to your home.

www.bookswim.com

www.booksfree.com

message 45: by Tammie (new)

2985341 booksfree.com is better then bookswim cause they don,t have the books i read like they do on booksfree.com

I always go to the book sales with a list of specific books I'm looking to buy. I tell myself I'm not buying anything that's not on that list. I really need to just stop wasting my time with making the list because I always stray from it. Always.
