message 25: by KristenR (new)

810660 I liked it a lot...It's the first historical fiction I've read, and I enjoyed her style and how she weaved fact and fiction seamlessly.

I plan on reading some of her other books as well :)

810660 32. 20th Century Ghosts - Joe Hill

This was an interesting collection of short stories. Some of them I loved, some of them I didn't like, and there were a couple I didn't quite get. But overall it was OK.

Nophoto-u-25x33 What did you think of Look at Me? I just picked it up on PBS.

message 33: by KristenR (new)

810660 Hi Nan,

Eh.... I really liked how it started off, but the last 150 pages or so were disappointing. Even though it was trying to bring the different characters and plotlines together I thought it ended up disjointed, contrived, and confusing.

message 34: by KristenR (last edited Feb 25, 2009 02:07AM) (new)

810660 36. Snow Crash - Neal Stephenson

message 35: by KristenR (last edited Apr 25, 2008 05:24PM) (new)

810660 37. Reviving Ophelia - Mary Pipher

message 36: by KristenR (last edited Apr 25, 2008 05:24PM) (new)

810660 38. Lawn Boy - Gary Paulsen

This was a cute book that I read to my 7 yo daughter. It's more appropriate for an older child...although she understood and loved the basic plot of a twelve year old boy who starts a lawnmower business that gets kind of out of control, there was a lot about money and stocks and business that just went over her head.

810660 OK....

I read 25 books in February!!! I guess I can thank the flu for that. Being unable to get out of bed for a week and a half sure gave me uninterrupted reading time.

And now I continue on in March:

39. Lolita - Vladimir Nabokov

message 41: by KristenR (last edited Apr 25, 2008 05:27PM) (new)

810660 44. To the Lighthouse - Virginia Woolf

ugh...while I can appreciate how unique Woolf's stream of consciousness style was at that time and that this is an introspective book....

I had SUCH a hard time reading it. I didn't really connect with any of the characters, and so the lack of plot made it drag for me.
