2408497 Since I last posted I finished Beyond the Highland Mist (Highlander, #1) which I really enjoyed! Started and finished Shiver (The Wolves of Mercy Falls, #1), which was a great book and I highly recommend it and have started and am almost finished with To Tame a Highland Warrior (Highlander, #2)

1303301 Lily,

First Lord's Fury came out 11/24/09, so you're not far behind. It's very, very good, so you'll want to get it. 25 library books? Tell me that some are your kids!First Lord's Fury (Codex Alera, #6)

2624012 I finished Devil May Cry and Upon a Midnight Clear. Am currently reading Dream Chaser, all by Sherrilyn Kenyon.

I finished Divine Misdemeanors on Saturday and really liked it, maybe because I expected it to be so awful. I did the "Phrases I never want to hear again" drinking game and had 13 shots of Bailey's. Was pretty toasted by the end of the day. My family thinks I'm weird. :)

1795513 Ack Lily - computer problems are no fun but maybe it will give you the extra time to get through those 25 books, YIKES!

2299608 I just finished Holidays Are Hell and thought it was a good anthology. I really enjoyed 3 out of the 4 stories. I'm now reading Edge Of Danger (Primal Instinct, #2)

It's the characters themselves. They are sort of stock characterizations - the guy with the bad boy image who isn't, the heroine who doesn't really have faith in her abilities, etc. There just isn't anything about them that makes me care about what happens to them.

1795513 Amanda I LOVED Hunger Games & the sequel Catching Fire! I hope you like them.

Sandy - that's a series & author I've never heard of before. Why do you think you're not connecting with the characters? Is it the characters themselves or the writting style??

message 500: by Sandy (new)

Nophoto-u-25x33 I'm about 3/4 done with Vicious Circle (Persephone Alcmedi, #1)
I'll finish it but I'm not really connecting with the characters. I won't pick up the next in the series.

message 499: by Amanda (new)

2963161 I just finished Graceling, and now I'm starting The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy 1' it looks really short so I'll most likely have it done today or maybe tomorrow but im thinking today, then I'll move on to The Hunger Games (Hunger Games, #1), I've heard good things about this series but don't know too much about it yet.

I liked the Host...even though there is not alot that really happens as far as action. The bulk of the book deals with the internal struggle between the host body and the wanderer...the seconday issue is Wanderer's interaction with the people who hate her and don't want to give her a chance. I also liked it because I liked both characters and would have been unhappy if either had disappeared.

1303301 I am reading a YA Wish You Were Dead by Todd Strasser which I'm enjoying when I'm reading it, but I'm finding it easy to not be reading. Next up is Playing with Fire by Gena Showalter, a challenge book. Wish You Were DeadPlaying With Fire (Tales of an Extraordinary Girl, #1)

I loved this book. I am not a big fan of Stephenie Meyer, but I love this book. It does take a little bit to get started, but it has a great story once it gets going. Everyone I have talked into reading liked it a lot. I would highly recommend it.

I LOVE the Sookie books! Book 4, DEAD TO THE WORLD, is still my favorite of the series.

2675184 I'll definetly read it as soon as I have time, which seems to be something that I'm lacking right now. But once the Christmas holidays start I should have more time :D

I have read it and I think it is worth reading and I may even read it again. It is a very strange book but it makes you think about things and is interesting if you can stick through it to the end. If either of you finish it I would love to chat about what you thought of it.

2996291 I am currently reading the Sookie Stackhouse series. I got it (7 book box set) as a 2 year anniversary gift from my boyfriend. When you get further let us know what you think of it.

1795513 I've finally started The Host. I think I'm on chapter 9 or 10 and I'm not sure what to think of it yet. I'm having a hard time deciding who to hope for - The Wanderer who so far seems to be the main character or Melanie. I'm trying to keep my mind open to the whole parasite thing but... it's a little hard to sympathize with the 'Souls'.

I haven't read that one in a while so I don't really remember when it gets exciting, I just remember liking it, although it is a little different and some people don't like it.

See I am not digging it as much as I did the first two but I thought it was because I stopped Shiver to wait on a friend to catch up with me so we could read it together and I am wanting to get back into Shiver...but that just may not be the reason...

I see lots of people posting about Graceling, I really loved that book and I have Fire sitting here looking at me but I have heard that Fire is not as good as Graceling...we shall see. And then I have Breathless A Novelto read for a December challenge. And on and on LOL

2647629 Finished On the Edge and I just finished listening to Shakespeare's Champion and started Shakespeare's Christmas. I'm pretty sure that I wouldn't enjoyed the written form, but the oral form of the book is nice. I'll listen to the entire Lily Bard series.

I started Lament The Faerie Queen's Deception. I have no idea whether or not it's a good book.

message 471: by Shannon (new)

2016128 I finished Divine Misdemeanors (Meredith Gentry, #8) last night, here's my review if anyone is curious, and now I'm starting The Dead Girls' Dance (The Morganville Vampires, #2). I read the first Morganville book a while ago and I can't remember what happened at the end. I think I have to dig it out and read the last few chapters to refresh. I hate when that happens.

message 470: by Carolyn (new)

2624012 I really liked the Aisling Grey series. I thought parts of the books were really funny.

I finished Sins of the Night and Unleash the Night. I'm starting Dark Side of the Moon. All by Sherrilyn Kenyon. I'm liking the books a lot so far but thought the ending for Unleash the Night was really, really hokey.

message 469: by Erin (new)

2864764 I just finished Light My Fire (Aisling Grey Guardian, #3) and am about to start The Last Vampire 4 Phantom while I await the last book in the Aisling Grey series from the library.

2016128 Started Divine Misdemeanors (Meredith Gentry, #8) yesterday. We got it in early at work and we can check out strict on sale titles so I'm glad I brought back Under the Dome on Thursday!

message 463: by Valorie (new)

2299608 I just finished A Girl's Guide to Vampires (Dark Ones, #1) Well unfortunately I can only say this first book was just OK for me. I found the two female characters kinda annoying and childish. I did think there was some smart and witty writing so I will try the next book in the series and hopefully it will get better. I'm now moving on to The Hunger (Companion, #2)

it was actually pretty good, and humorous. It has a lot of girly elements but after a bit you get used to it. I'll probably read the next one in the series ...one day :P
