James and Tyran Warsten he typed into the search engine. There were several options, but the psychiatric firm's website came up again, this time he clicked on it and skipped the add -that thing was just too freaky. He wrote down the business address and the telephone number. This was the best option he had.AS he dialed in the ten digits and listened to the ring tone on the other end of the line his stomach twisted. How was this going to help him find his parents?
"Hello, Kaleston Psychiatry, how may I help you?" It was a secretary, of course... Cathisen took a deep breath and the secretary repeated, "Hello?"
"Hello, may I speak to Dr. James Warsten please?"
"May I ask who is calling?"
What was he supposed to say, 'I'm his long lost son, or at least I think I may be and I'm trying to find my parents because I'm having some weird hallucinations." well that would get him committed, but not let him talk to James. "I'm one of his patients."
"What is your name sir?"
"Isn't that in the doctor-patient security? I don't have to give you any information about me. You could be a credit card stealer who wants my money!" That ought to convince her that he was crazy.
"Dr. Warsten is busy at the moment I can't tell him you called unless I have your name and a number that he can reach you from, sir."
Cathisen gave the woman his cell phone number and told her to just put his name as one of Dr. Warsten's patients.
now all he had to do was wait until he was called back.
He saw Ches disappearing into the undergrowth of the forest. The echoes of her childish voice saying something no child should say ringing in his ears. "I will see you after you die." No one should say that - child or not- Cathisen thought. His breath was ragged and the creature crashed toward him. He turned to get a glance of it as his doom headed toward him. Sharp teeth shone in a rare beam of sunlight that illuminated the creature's head. It was covered in a mossy colored fur, with streams of goo running down its face from its eyes. The beast snorted and headed straight for Cathisen. He was locked in its gaze and couldn't move. His fatal mistake had been to turn around. Suddenly he was looking at himself in the bathroom mirror once again. Cath gasped and almost fell down at the sudden changes. He went back to the computer, deciding if he did get a Psychiatrist he'd just be locked up and then there would be no help for Ches.
((http://www.goodreads.com/story/list/1242...hey guys! check out my story and give me feedback please!!))
((I wrote before their last name as Poltak, but I can change it if you like Warsten better))
There was a small address on the site, one where the buisiness headquarters could be located. There was a number next to it, and some add to find your perfect shrink. He clicked on the add, mostly for sheer enjoyment, and a huge page popped up. There were several names and even a form to fill out. Cath gave it a try, thinking the result would be humerous. He started to fill in the online form:
Name: Charley...Waren. (Waren was the last name of his best friend, Scottie)
Age: (hmm, he though) 27
Personality: (What the hell is this supposed to mean? He chuckled)..Dark and evil.
Illness: (You've got to be joking!! He muttered aloud) Constant denial, insomnia, craaaazy!
Eye color: (what! how random) Blue. Like the ocean.
Hair color: (This place is a joke.) Brown. Like coffee.
SEND.
Cath sent the form, and nearly immediately, a blinking warning shot up on his screen.
YOUR REAL AGE, CATHISAN, PLEASE.
He nearly fell of his chair in utter astonishment. He backed away from the computer and out the room. He went into the restroom and washed his face. This couldn't be happening, he told himself. But just then, before he could control himself, he had another vision, like the last time. Although this one was more serious, and definately more pin point and visual.
((Oh, that makes sense))So he went searching. It wasn't too hard to find them, really. All he had to do was search their names on the internet. There was a big psychiatric firm in the city where a Dr. James Warsten worked. Apparently he was quite well known.
His two parents-the names he found in the attic. I changed it from James and Lily to James and Tyran because I realized James and Lily are the names of Harry Potters parents. haha
So Ches hurried home and started planning. He wasn't going to make any mistakes . He knew that Ches' life depended on it. When he got to 14 Brambury, the little green house that he had called home since he was 10, he pulled out a notepad and started writing. He knew he needed to brainstorm a good amount of food and money, aswell as places to go and people to meet. He started with James and Tyran, however false of a lead, it was something.
((hes 18! i was just thinking cuz he cud think...if he found his parents he would prove hes not an orphan and thus get away from his foster parents))
He was 18 now. An adult. He could do whatever he wanted except drink. And that included digging through his records at child services.
((Thanks guys! I will see if I can post pictures later! It is beautiful in europe though! Right now I am in Prague, a city in the Czech Republic. It is absolutely gorgeous and I really hope you guys get the chance to come here some day!))So many things were spiraling through his mind, and he wasn't sure if it was right to leave his foster parents alone. And even if he convinced him how would they get around child services? He knew you couldn't be wandering the streets if you're an orphan. Unless you can prove you aren't an orphan. And that's when it hit him.
((THat's so cool! HAve fun Cale!))He had to go upstairs today and find that box. Figuring out what those papers said about his other family was important. He had always believed that they died, that was why they had left him at 9 years old, but maybe, there was something else. maybe he had a baby sister that was 8 years younger than him that he didn't remember.
((srry guys i hav been on and off because im traveling in europe and i dont know when i hav internet access so im going to try and fit some stuff in before i leave for italy. once i get there i wont hav any internet at all.))
And one day, when `cath was just sitting on the bench in the park, taking some time away from the busy and unwanted noise of the city, he made a decision that he knew would change his life with Susan and Dan. He was ashamed of his decisiveness; he knew that it meant leaving his foster parents only two weeks after the death of their only child, but he felt it was his destiny. And the longer he waited, the more despair he felt for Ches. He needed to find her. Whether she was dead or alive.Cath remembered one time when he was smaller, living with Susan he had stumbled up to the attic and discovered a worn down box of old clothes and random objects. Now that he took the time to think about it, he seemed to remember papers lying at the surface of the box, three very prominent names bled into the paper, as if owning it.
James and Tyran Portak.
And baby Ches.
But he couldn't get rid of the feeling that someone else needed him too. A 10 year old, dark skinned, slave girl named Chess. She needed his help - urgently.
What about Zoe?" he asked them. "Really I'm fine."Susan answered. "A nurse gave us some contact numbers. all we can do now is make arrangements for..." she stopped and took a gagging breath. Dan filled out the paperwork a nurse gave him and they left the hospital.
Zoe and that other girl kept flashing through his mind. one apparently healthy, the other covered in blood. Both of is little sisters dead. But Cathasen was an only child, where were these memories coming from? Was he going crazy? No, he couldn't, Dan and Susan needed him right now. He wasn't crazy.
Blinking back into reality, Cath turned to Susan and Dan, staring over him with concerned, tear struck faces.
((Thank you Cale Steps!!))The first place he looked would have to be the social worker in charge of his case. She was supposed to have access to his records and stuff. If that didn't work there had to be somewhere else he could look, something else he could do to find his bio parents. Somehow he knew they connected him to these memories and to that girl Ches.
Cath was starting to remember a story that he had never heard before. He thought that for sure he was going crazy. After moments of thinking he came to the conclusion that he was just a lunatic..one of those strange people you always here about that believe they are either reincarnated or just strangely telepathic. But even this solution wasn't good enough for Cath. And as he muttered his name under his breath ever so slightly, he felt a strong connection to an unknown Chess, and he decided his purpose was to find his biological parents. Now.

((A Wind in the Door!!! One of my favorite books. MAWHAHAHAHA!!!))
((You got that out of Swiftly tilting planet didn't you? or was it wind in the door, I can't remember which.))Minuets later Cathisen came awake. He was sitting on one of those hospital beds and panting. "Are you ok?" Susan asked him hesitantly? He looked at her, confused.
Dan answered his unasked Question, "You passed out then we put you on this bed. and when it looked like you might wake up you suddenly sat up and yelled, 'Chess!' it must have been some wild dream." they both looked at him like they were worried. he tried to smile, but couldn't. "i can't even remember it now" he lied. Mann was the name of the person who had owned Chess before she escaped.
((Thanks!!!! I g2g but I'll explain mitochondria later, byes!! I'm going camping tommorow...so I'l have 2 read alot of posts lol.))
"Cath!" screamed Susan, rushing towards him, her face showing deep worry. She looked up at Doctor Mann, asking anxiously, "Have his mito-whatsit failed too?!"
"No, just fainted...better elevate his legs." said the Doctor.
((wuts a farondolae? and refresh my mind: mitochondria? srry im OUT fo school =P but nicely written!))
Cath stared up at the doctor, absorbing his words. He muttered Mann over and over agin to himself, the name etching its way into Cath's brain cells. Suddenly, Cathshuttered, his eyes squinted close and a deep excrutiating pain developed in his head, screaching blurred images and texts, from another world..almost like flashbacks from a past he never lived. They were unfamiliar to him. And in all the pain and confusion, he fainted, the pain dulling itself away to only a mear beat.
The Doctor looked away from Cath's worried eyes, down at his feet. He cleared his throat, and mumbled, "Your sister's farandolae were sick. There was nothing we could do, they had been for a while... The mitochondria failed. I'm sorry."
Susan looked with tearful eyes at Mann.
"Why didn't you tell us sooner?" she wailed. "We could have done something!"
"There is--was--nothing you can do. The mitochondria are so small, you'd need to be the size of a farandolae. To a farandolae, the mitochondria is an entire universe. And to a mitochondria....well. A human being is a whole world to a mitochondrion, just the way our planet is to us. But we're much more dependent on our mitochondria then the earth is on us. The earth could get along perfectly well without people, bu if anything happened to our mitochondria, we'd die. That's what happened to your sister."
Cathisan couldn't remember. He was imediately pulled back into reality. He stared blankly at his foster parents, each gripping eachother frantically, Susan gasping for air as she dropped to the ground in utter devestation. Dan was no better as he paced around, gentle tears flooding out of his pale eyes, hitting his quivering lips. As he made a decisive decision, he fell to the floor next to his wife and comferted her, releasing all of his tears into the crick of her elbow aswell. Cath swallowed hard but was able to get his blood pumping again, frozen from all the shock. He moved over to the doctor, peering sympathetically out the door.
"Excuse me Doctor.." Cath began, searching for a name of some sort.
"Mann. Doctor Mann." He responded, holding out his hand. His eyes were streaked with tears, understanding the families pain in having lost a baby.
"Can you please tell me," Cathe began, slightly choked up, "what Zoe's d...eath.." he took a big breath, and sucked all the courage up he had, "was caused by. Can you please tell me what injury or disease or illness caused my sister to stop breathing!" He finished angrily, tears pooring down his cheaks. He realized he must have screamed it because his foster parents had looked up and the nurses had stopped in the ally ways, staring up at the startled doctor. Cath realized then that he had even referred to Zoe as his sister, which was technically incorrect.
((Well, lets see what happens to Zoe))They sped through the suburb and their black suburban screeched to a stop outside the nearest hospital. It had been nearly 10 minuets. Cathisen knew that Zoe was gone. She had probably been dead in her crib. A hot tear splashed on the baby's forehead. Susan Dan & Cath rushed into the doors and Susan yelled at the nurse, "HELP! She's not breathing!"
The nurse grabbed little Zoe and after a few more minuets she let the family into the emergency room. Susan was bawling into Dan's shoulder as the nurse told them the terrible news.
Cathisen had a sudden and unexpected memory. Instead of a nurse in white scrubs, a young woman was holding a six or seven year old girl that looked as if she had bled to death from a large cut in her stomach. then the hospital was back. he immediately recognized this sight as a memory from the dream world he saw last night, but what was happening?
((Well, conspiracy theorists and lots of fiction writers tell about other worlds/dimensions/realms whatever they want to call them and throughout all the differences they always seem to have the same genetics, so there would be a Cathisen in both dimensions. his dream maybe could be him seeing how his altranate self died, and he doesn't know that yet, but he knows he had to find this girl Ches who adopted him as her older brother and knows stuff that normal 10 year olds don't know.))

((wow! Now I don't know what to post! That ws exciting! And well written, Dragon_eyes and Cale_steps!))
((oh good idea))
Cath reached for the nearest phone, but his foster mother (let's just call her Susan?) was already ahead of him. She flipped open her cell phone and dialed helplessly, drawing the phone nearer to her ear.
"Dan! Dan! My phone isn't getting connection!" She screamed furiously, banging it against the counter. Cath was quick to respond, and he flung himself accross the table, spilling the juice everywhere, but grasping hold of the kitchen phone.
"Hello!!!" He creid uselessly. "Susan! Dan! The lines are down here too!"
"Oh my gosh! Dan! Get her in the car! We're going to have to drive her there! CHARLIE! Grab the keys! HURRY!" Susan yelled at the top of her lungs, in between sorrowful gasps of tears.
Once they were in the Ford, Dan yelled at Cath to give Zoe first aid CPR, and keep trying to wake her. As Cath looked down at the pale new born, he had flashbacks from the past. He shook them off with a confused thought, and pumped her chest, his hands working in unison as small, warm tears fell from his eyes onto Zoe.
