Nophoto-m-25x33 Hi Emu,

I have read three of the books on your list and would be interested in what you had to say about them, particularly the Nick Cave one. I was definitely impressed by it -- maybe that had to do with the fact that the disjunct between him being a musician and then reading a fairly difficult and artistic book -- but I don't know how I would go about describing it or recommending it to anyone. How did you hear about it?

As for the others that I have read, The Plot Against America is pretty good, in my opinion, but I read it just after I finished his trilogy (American Pastoral, I Married a Communist, Human Stain) which I think were all amazing and made The Plot pale in comparison.

The Wind-up Bird Chronicle is my favorite Murakami book. I have read several of his novels now and that one definitely sticks out the most. If you like his writing, I would recommend Kafka on the Shore as well.

Anyway, sorry for rambling but I hope your reading is going well. Enjoy!
Mark

1581549 I am new to this group - I think it is a great idea to set a goal and get a little less unread books on my shelves....

My TBR list is:

1) The Fourth Hand by John Irving

2) The Wind-up Bird Chronicle by Haruki Murakami

3) My Place by Sally Morgan

4) The Plot Against America by Philip Roth

5) And the Ass Saw the Angel by Nick Cave

6) The House of the Spirits by Isabel Allende

Some of these books have actually been on my book shelves for several years. Maybe I have had a hidden gem all that time :-)
