I noticed Karissa looking at me a few times with speculation in her eyes, if she was as tough as her reputation, she would be seeing my soft white fles and thinking I was a regular homely girl, weak maybe even ineffective. I tried to catch her eye a few times so I could read the expression in her eyes, everytime she kept her face turned away from me like she didn't want me to know what she was thinking about me. I wondered for a brief moment if I could just walk out on the assignment and never see my brother again, I just didn't feel upto all that emotion of having a twin, most people I knew at Zycex were barely human in their relationships with those around them. We were all just highly trained automations walking about pretending to be human.

"...that's where you come in " I heard Raben saying loudly for my benefit just as he turned to look at me, I barely stopped myself from laughing hysterically...

((just watched phantom of the opera for the second time, i feel like a masquerade now))

I walked over to their table and pulled out a chair. "Hey, Raben. It's been a while."
He nodded and introduced me to the girl sitting next to him. "This is Karissa." He didn't give me a last name, but then that's not so unusual. Everyone at Zycex had code identification numbers, and ever since the beginning Zycex had been taking in orphans and raising them. Training them up as soldiers or assassins or whatever else their jobs were here. Lots of people didn't have last names, and some who did didn't want them.
I nodded to Karissa as Raben told her my name and that I was his twin that had been mentioned in the assignment. "At least he introduced me as his sister this time" I thought. I'm used to working with strangers, but working with my brother again was going to take some getting used to.

I stood awhile near the door, looking at them both as they stood there. And the feeling of doom pierced my hear again, there was something wrong with this mission, I had felt that from the start. I watched as Raben again turned to Karissa and said something to her. He hadn't smiled like usual, he knew I was there. Something had changed in our relationship since that vacation in the countryside. I knew things would never be the same again.

I headed up through the compound. It was true, I hadn't met my brother for almost a whole year. We had been inseparable as children because we were twins, but Zycex had been using us for our strengths and those were different so we hardly ever saw each other any more.
I walked into the cavernous mess hall and scanned the room for Raben's familiar face. There he was, talking to some woman with black hair that was obviously dyed. That must be his new partner then.

((I'm not so good at the evil parts of stuff. Give me an idea and I can work with it, but I have trouble comming up w/ original stuff... well there goes my career as an author down the drain...
So Zycex isn't necessarily evil at this point, right? it's just ruling the military force of some kind. Whatever mission this is going to be must be bad, though because Jillica says it is, and who knows what kinds of other nasty stuff she's done for them already. that plus she tells her brother to kill her, so what's the motivation for that? Does the reason for that come up later on because of something she - or quite possibly he - does, or is it simply because she can find no other way to get away from Zycex (though that seems too much like giving up on fighting to me.)
Obviously this mission has to be covert, or they wouldn't be sending in only three agents/soldiers (I'm not sure what they are.) /i'm thinking that they're being sent to do something small that triggers something big, Kinda like the terrorists destroying 3 buildings threw the whole US into relative chaos for several weeks...

Sorry about the babbling, I was just typing things as I though about them...))

So that's how I remember meeting Karissa, she was quite something, a legend practically. The story went that she was found in the outerworlds living by herself in an extremely hostile environ. She had lost her ship in a surprise attack, couldn't even send out an sos before the ship communications failed. So, anyway she was known as a tough woman, the best in the Zycex Corp.

And she was to be my combat leader for this dangerous mission.

"Oh, he was here last month. New weapon's delivery. Aparently the higher ups have given him a work partner - not just a single mission partner either."
"Oh? they don't do that very often." privately she wondered Why would they give him a long term partnership? "You're a gossip monger, old man"
The man grinned. "You already knew that." She shook her head and left. Some day that man would get into trouble for doing that. Someone would notice what he did and report it.

There was something about this man that wanted to draw out even more information. His eyes, still laughing and colored in a magnificent blue continued to gaze deeper and deeper into Jillica's own eyes. Every second, more of Jillica's personal security was being worn down. She noticed it to.
"Hey," she almost yelled, trying to break the trance."You said together, have you seen Raben elsewhere?"

The man seemed to laugh in his eyes. Jillica saw him as a friendly person and continued talking with this man.

When she got there, the man standing guard saluted her and said, "Jillica, what's your assignment this time?"
She smiled at him. he was a nice man, a friend of hers. "Sorry, can't say:top secret."
"Oh, well I still have to see your pass." she handed him the card that had been tied to the holocube and he opened the door. swiping the card through the slot in the machine, he whistled. "That's some heavy duty stuff, they're giving you this time around!"
"Yeah, and all the smallest newest models too." she picked up the box that the machine had delivered into the room and opened it to check that everything was there. Just standard procedure, Everything was there, and it was all small enough to easily hide on her body. She only got more upset about this mission with the weapon choices.
"Thanks," Jillica told the man. "I've gotta go meet Raben now."
"Raben?" he asked. "I haven't seen you 2 together in nearly 10 months."
"It's been too long." Jillica agreed.

With a sigh she snapped it shut and left for the weapons room.

looking at the image of General Hitori sitting at his desk, she felt slightly awed that he would ask for her specifically for this mission. then she hit the play button. her awe quickly turned to horror. This mission was going to be hell; she didn't have any choice though, Zycex all but owned her. She hadn't really ever liked it here, but now, she was sure she didn't want to stay. Zycex was corrupt & getting worse daily.

Foxtail suggested condecendingly, "try perception exercises next time." then she turned and strutted back out of the room. Jillica looked at the box in her hands. a hololsphere. one time use - it looked like. it held a hologram of someone explaining her mission. it would automatically delete the message after it was played once.
But she didn't know why it was a one time use. Was this a top secret mission she was being sent on? she headed toward her quarters to go see what this mission was.

((Jillica & Foxtail are girls. working for what I'm assuming is an army/cult (for lack of a better word) called Zycex. Raben is Jillica's brother, and Karissa hasn't actually been introduced yet. I think she's probably a girl too))

Foxtail smiled, but it looked kind of like a sneer to Jillica. She tossed her a box, which Jillica fumbled to catch, then promptly dropped. "An assignment from the big-boss. He asked for you and two others specifically." Yes, she decided, she's definitely sneering.
