Asalamoalikum everyone! I am exceedingly happy to join this group where I can learn and share different things about Islam but sorrowfully this group seems to be a bit inactive. I will try my level best to make this group as active as possible and would certainly need your contribution. It will be very great if we have non-muslims too in this group so we can spread the message of ISLAM.
I would love to have your opinion about the recent WAR ON TERROR in which everyone is talking about muslims as terrorists. What do you think should our role be? and plz tell me what is your opinion about my country?
khizer, I am also from Pakistan. I hope you contribute in further discussions. Marieke, I am exceedingly happy to see u. its good that you are here.Khizer your questions are meaningful. I hope someone replies to them. I am looking forward to the replies.
The West has bent over backwards repeatedly to say that it is not at war against Islam, though its actions are easily portrayed as being otherwise and the West has done a poor job of stating its case.
There are strong voices within Islam that repudiate terrorism and dictatorship. The problem is they are few, but mostly they do not get the voice in Western media that they deserve. My guess is that was mostly out of political considerations. Hopefully now, that will change.
That said - it is good indeed to see the question put forth as to what role Muslims can play in combating terrorism. Khizer - I see Pakistan facing an enormous task. I see it as now occupying THE frontline in the war against islamist terrorism. This struggle in many ways takes on the guise of a civil struggle that pits various factions of the state against one another. At the same time, there are the ongoing tensions of Jammu/Kashmir. Internal strife paired with external tensions make for a most difficult scenario. I wish I had a better understanding.
What is your view? I look forward to your insight.
Not Bill, I agree with you at many points. Its very true that the War against terror has caused more terror than peace.Islam strictly condemns terrorism. In fact, No religion encourages terrorist acts or violence. The word ‘Islam’ itself means ‘Peace, obtained by submitting yourself to the Almighty’. As you said, the problem is that the muslims are not in power and the media is in the hands of West.In every religion there are black sheep and the media keep putting these people forward. This is a media conspiracy and a way of pushing people away from Islam.I also feel that terrorism is the monopoly of politicians for their personal gains.
Pakistan is definitely facing huge tasks. Pakistan is facing various internal problems like the recent energy crisis, economic problems and of course the Jammu/Kashmir issue, and then there are external pressures too. I hope that the government play a positive role in such a critical situation.
I would also request muslims to practice unity and brotherhood and stand firm to the teachings of Islam.
