Ninja Fanpire (NinjaFanpire) | 616 comments Okay, recently there was a discussion going on in a topic not in this group, and I wanted to know if you agree with the person who replied to me. Also, what is YOUR stance on the whole gay/lesbian thing. Please, do not hate on them, this is not a hate topic.
Okay, here is my comment. We were talking about a movie that had homosexuals in it.

Ninjafanpire: I JUST saw the movie. The original that they made. I really really liked it! It's a bit weird with the Gays/Lesbians, but once I get past that it is awesome! I wasn't allowed to see it when I was younger, so I finally got around to watching it at a friends house.

Tom: So NinjaFanpire, what's a bit weird with the Gays/Lesbians?

Holli: That was my question for NinjaFanpire too as I was reading that post Tom..... ;)

NinjaFanpire: Well, okay, here is my stance on the matter.

I do not agree with gays/lesbians. I do not support gays/lesbians. HOWEVER, I do respect that people in the United States have the right and freedom to be gay/straight/lesbian/bi if they want to, just as they have the freedom to be Mormon/Christian/Catholic/Jewish/etc.

I just feel that it's a bit weird for two girls or guys to kiss (besides family). But, if I was going along just minding my own business and I see two same gender people making out, I'm not going to start cussing at them or throwing rocks or insulting them. I would probably say "ew" in my head, but then I would keep minding my own business. It's the same if I saw two Mormons walking down the street. I wouldn't hurl insults at them and tell them they are wrong just because they have a different religion than I do. It's their choice to be Mormon.

So that is my stand. Respect, not agreeance.


(Skipping a few comments in between because of irrelevance or they are unnecessary. Ask for what was skipped, I don't mind if you really want to know.)

Tom: Ah, NinjaFanpire. One day you'll grow up and realize how utterly bigoted, stupid and offensive your stance on the matter is. Just when I start thinking that gays and lesbians have actually made some progress, I read something like your post, and I am reminded of exactly how far we have to go.

Agreeance, indeed. Dear God.



So he called my stance, the big long statement I made, bigoted, stupid, and offensive. Do you think it is? I really do think this is appropriate, seeing as how we are questioning society and he is part of society.
(There is much more to the conversation, and by all means if you want the whole rest of the discussion go ahead and ask for it.)

Jon 'these people' ? its 10% of the population and its largely genetic. up to 10 people out of every 100 you come across, although not necessarily that high amongst the people you choose to circulate with or in rural areas, and up to 15% or more if you live in a metropolitan area are gay or bi, (whether they have acted on it or identify with those terms or not). Thats as many as are left handed. Sorry...rereading i know you didnt say that in the way that it was read, especailly after your earlier comments of acceptance. But for the record those are the stats.

Ninjafanpire - i think Toms commnents were harsh and i dont think you meant to come across as you did, I would say that with the problems of putting thoughts in word form as opposed to a conversation they do come across as a little offensive though. It came over a little along the lines, of I have no problem with Black people as long as they dont move into my neighbourhood. Im sure that wasnt the intention, to a certain extent i feel the same way about certain fundamentalist religious beliefs, I dont agree with them, but accept them as a part of society, and freedom of choice - unless they affect other peoples human rights.

gay/lesbian/bi people dont bother me at all. i have a couple bi friends, no lesbian friends or gay friends. there is a gay kid at my school that i dont like but its not because hes gay its cuz hes ANOYING

I don't think that it should be illegal, the constitution states:
We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.
The persuit of happiness has no limitations, and we shouldn't ban lesbions/gays from marrying... because it is going to make them happy.

very well said. if someone is homosexual, it's their business, not ours. i think it's outrageous that people discriminate against people because of such a minor issue.

Seriously, science doesn't know everything. I still think it's a choice, not something a person is born with. God doesn't make gays/lesbians, they choose to be.

i think its a combination of genes and environment, and what ever makes them happy

They learn new things everyday, and then say "Guess we were wrong 5 years ago when we thought this." With progression comes knowledge, yes, but how useful is that knowledge if it is false?

Catamorandi (wwwgoodreadscomprofilerandi) I don't think that gays/lesbians should be discriminated against. I feel that no group of people should be discriminated against. Everyone is entitled to sexual preference, and it shouldn't matter what it is. They are who they are, and we shouldn't go around trying to change them or ostracise them. I also feel that they should be able to marry each other if they want to.

However, as I said, it is a free country. But, if it's not legal in the state I don't believe in people being allowed to do it, since it is a law.

Why would you choose to be something that gets you rejected from society and denied civil rights?

Science is an accumulation of knowledge. It's not wrong, it's been improved and refined. It has the ability to admit mistakes. And to better itself. What else has that self-improvement built in?

Ninja Fanpire (NinjaFanpire) | 616 comments I don't think that science is always wrong, or that studying science is wrong. But it has been wrong, in the past. And in the future, we'll figure out some things that we thought were right, are really wrong.

This kid was talking about how, when he went to school, he started getting this label. People started calling him gay. And so he thought that, maybe, that was who he was supposed to be. Like, fate. That's just who he was. From what he said I don't think it's really what he WANTED to be. It was like he was peer pressured into being it. It's what people TOLD him he was, and that's what he became.

I knew someone at my school, and she was actually bi (I think). She said that one day, she went to someone's house (that she knew) or something like that, I don't remember really where she was, she just met like a relative of one of her friends. Now, this relative happened to be lesbian. And this girl I sort of knew said that she just felt very attracted to her, and that's when she kind of knew that she was les/bi. And then they slept together and her parents never knew and she was like in high school and I think the chick she slept with was like in her twenties.

She was bi. That means she likes girls too. Duh. :) She was just following what she felt.

That happens with everything. Telling a kid their whole life that they're stupid will result in bad grades. Telling them they're smart will result in good grades.

She didn't choose. That's just when she figured it out because she was attracted to her. It's like when a little girl gets her first crush. Did she just decide to be straight right then?

But, when they decide who to spend their life with, that's not just experimentation, that's what they really feel. And if they feel like that for the same sex, then who is anyone to judge them>

Lauren I will try and find a link, I watched it as a DVD so I don't know if it would be online due to copyright issues and things.
