Started Very Valentine by Adriana Trigiani today as my "across the divide" read. It's ok. (I'm probably wanting a real romance...) :O)
Hrm, I only just got my May titles ordered, so I'll most likely read whatever comes in first first (I'll be starving by then!). I'm jealous of all ya'lls who have your piles ready to go!
I am a long way from Lover Avenged but I do look forward to it since I am enjoying the series so far. Please note any spoilers yall share in the thread. LOL.
I'll be interested to know what you think of House of Leaves - it's not the easiest to get into, but it's one of my favourite horrors out there. It's not easy, but by the end it is genuinely CREEPY. Reading it can be a bit of a mission though :)
I'm currently reading Confessions of an Ugly Stepsister, which I'm enjoying more than I thought I would, though it's large print which is always odd to read - feels like they're shouting - but it's the only copy the library has... will add JR Ward to my To Reads as these books seem to get a lot of buzz!
I also am starting my Dark Hunters re-read. So I am looking forward to that. I want to relive that craving, hunger thrill I had when I first started the series. This time I can actually document my thoughts and review each book!
I'm so jealous of everyone reading Lover Avenged! I'm waiting for two reasons:
1. I want to re-read the series first, and I've had sooo many other books to read, I just didn't get as early a jump on it as I had hoped and
2. I don't want to buy the hardcover, so I'm going to have to wait in line for holds at the library.
I'm really really nervous that I'm going to get spoiled, either because someone will accidentally say something in a public thread, or I just won't be able to stand it and I'll go read a spoilers thread... (that happens!)
My first May read will probably be House of Leaves by Mark Danielewski, because it's due back on May 6 and I can't renew, and also because I'm starting to get burned out on PNR/UF and need a change.
I'm in between two books that are part of April's challenges but there is no way I will be able to finish them by tonight, Kelley Armstrong's Bitten (I was surprised on how well the writing flows for this one) and The Kite Runner (I'm listening to this one, narrated by the author himself, and I can't help but get emotional with the story...still 4 more discs to go).
First May book? Probably Lover Avenged since it is sitting by my bedside, and I have already skimmed it that I practically know the story already but now I want to savor every line, every word...LOL..you know what I mean...LOL
Kenjii wrote: "What will be your first MAY read?"It's such a hard decision! This month I can't wait to read almost everything I've chosen. I think I'll start with Lover Avenged. Been waiting a long time for that one.
Me? I want to start The Darkest Night by Gena Showalter. I got the first 3 books checked out from the LIB and so I gotta finish those up first. Plus I really like the characters/world of LOTU.
I will finish my READ THE MONTH "I" and "R" selections for April even if it runs past today and I don't finish the challenge on time. I am liking Last Wolf Standing and From This Day Forward. I really look forward to winning the count off challenge and getting to buy the countless number of books for May I want to read. LOL.
I now have all of the Due South seasons. I had such a huge crush on Benton Frasier *sigh* And now I can relive it whenever I want LOLStarted Lover Avenged by J.R. Ward first thing this morning and oh yeah I'm lovin' it :) Am about 6 or 7 chapters through and torn between draggin' it out and racin' through it.
I lied. Instead of starting Scent of Shadows I started The Dream Thief. This book was originally on my list to read this month and for some reason I kept putting it off. It's really good so I don't know what I was waiting for. I don't think I'll get around to reading Scent of Shadows. Especially since tomorrow is the start of a new challenge month. Yippee!!!!
just checked the time (up late watching Due South on dvd *sigh* gotta love the Mountie) and it's 12.42am, Friday 1 May 2009 and I'm too tired to start it BUT will do so first tea break I get :)
tosca: I also have it as a May challenge book, but I admit I skimmed it already..and it is promising to be very good. Of course, I'll settle down and read it once May gets here...can't wait...LOL

I forget we're a day ahead here in NZ so raced off last night after work to buy an ecopy of Lover Avenged...to realise that I was too early D'OH. Your comment reminded me so have bought it YAY ME only I can't start until tomorrow May 1 cos it's one of my challenge entries BOO :)

I don't know. It doesn't make sense that in the blurb it says "The Jarheads are back" unless he's referring to a short story he wrote first. I have them in the same order he has them on his website which seems to make the most sense to me.
Just finished Wild Rain by Christine Feehan, Book 2 of her Leopard series. It was a decent read, and I was sort of distracted having Lover Avenged sitting on my bedstand...LOL
Picking up Armstrong's Bitten, but not sure if I can finish this tomorrow in time for the April challenges...oh well...
I'm reading Master of Ecstasy and I must say, it's pretty terrible. I don't even want to finish it. It's weird because I read one of her other books which is a part of a different series and it was good. But this one just blows.Next up: Montana Sky by Nora Roberts

I've read several of her stand-alone YA books like All American Girl and a few others. They were okay. I liked Princess Diaries but there are ten main books plus small (1/2) books now and then. The excerpts from Princess Mia's romance novel she wrote I didn't care for so skimmed them in the final book. I read on the author's website that Meg Cabot will publish the full length romance novel written by Princess Mia for adults. Based on the excepts in Forever Princess, I'll pass. I've read the mediator series and liked it. I havn't started the 1-800 series because my library only has the first 2 of them.

This is the correct order. You defiantly want to start with Don't Ask Don't ..."
I'm so confused - was Don't Ask Don't Tell a prequel?
I should just stop thinking about it and trust you guys. :)
Just finished City of Glass. This is the last book in the YA series The Mortal Instruments. I loved this series and wish she would write an adult book fast forwarding a few years into the future. I want to know which girl Simon chooses and if Jase and Claire get married. It would make for a great PNR read.I have one more book to read this month, The Scent of Shadows The First Sign of the Zodiac, the book picked for me in the "You Pick It" challenge. I don't expect to finish it by the Friday but I want to read it anyway. I need to start another series like I need a hole in my head but what ya gonna do.

Don't Ask, Don't Tell
Personal Leave
Three Day Passes
Tempering
Out of the Closet
On the Sand
Right! I know. Lori is good with this stuff. So let's wait for her answer. That's why I was like O-K.
This is confusing, because it starts with Don't Ask, Don't Tell, but the blurb says "The Jarheads are back!"
And then in the blurb for Out of the Closet, which is five or six down, it says the first two are Three Day Passes and Tempering.
I don't think this list is in sequence.
series order (as far as I can tell, lol, back me up lori)http://www.seanmichaelwrites.com/jarhead...
Lori and Kenjii - I have some of these too, but I can't for the life of me figure out what the correct order is. Help?
Lori: I have this series. Should I wait until I get book 1 or go ahead and jump in with Personal Leave?

I've read this and I have the second book in that series sitting here waiting for me. Meg Cabot is just so funny. She makes this plot work, trust me. If you haven't read her other YA books (besides Princess Diaries - I haven't read those) you should. She has a series with a teenage ghost whisperer and one where a girl gets struck by lightning and then can find missing people. She has the best dialogue in her books. She's one of my favorites.
I was amazed that a book with a sex scene every coupla sentences could make each scene sound/feel so different from the next. I congratulate the author with the use of positions, fetishes and emotional involvement. Kasia: I gotta try and finish one challenge this month.
Finished Don't Ask, Don't Tell and while I NEVER thought I'd say this...I actually experienced "sex fatigue". I wanted more story. I love Rock & Rigger. For a couple of fags, they sure are "manly" men. As a marine and a cowboy from Texas, I guess there's no way they would ever be anything less then extremely macho. Although Rigger makes a mean batch of fried chicken and chocolate pie. Sex is how they show their affection for each other and they show it a LOT! Never do they utter the dreaded "L" word even though it's obvious they are crazy about each other. I think there is more story in subsequent books so I'm going to continue with the series. I'm too attached to these boys to give up now.
I just picked up As Shadows Fade by Colleen Gleason, which seems to be the last Gardella Vampire book. I didn't realize this was going to be the last book in the series. Fluffy, but fun for "Victorian Buffy".
I am not going to force it but I hope to finish these 2 books and complete my READ THE MONTH challenge. I am enjoying the books so that helps. Last Wolf Standing by Rhyannon Byrd
From This Day Forward by Irene Hannon
Finished the anthology Wolfbane and Mistletoe. Lots of interesting stories. Most made me feel homesick...you know Christmassy and warmth and home messages in a "wolfy" way.
Still struggling through Feehan's Wild Rain, and started a few pages last night with Armstrong's Bitten. Hope I can finish it before April ends.
I wish had Milk in my Coffee by Eric Jerome Dickey then, hehe. I'd re-read that. I loved that book. Good tip. I don't think I'll finish What's in a Name but I am working on Read the Month-April. I got "I" and "R" to go.
I'm working on trying to read what I can of the 4 books remaining on the What's in a Name quarterly challenge about to end. Using Coffee, Tea or Me? The Uninhibited Memoirs of Two Airline Stewardesses for the plant/flower book as coffee and tea are plants first.
I started Chill Factor yesterday. It's the 3rd in Rachel Caine's Weather Warden series. I've really enjoyed the first 2 books so I'm hoping for another great read.
A friend sent me 2 new books. Christian romance. Which I have never read. But not so much a leap from when I was reading home and family romance From this day Forward by Irene Hannon is interesting in that I want to find out more about the characters and their flaws aren't annoying me.
Gave up on Bog Child after a few pages. Too many short, choppy sentences, which drive me crazy. I started on
by Deanna Raybourn instead.
I'm reading City of Glass the third and I believe last book in the Mortal Instruments series. It's been so long, and I've read so many books, since the last book that I'm having a hard time remembering everything. I'm sure it will come back to me. This is a great series, especially since it's YA. Very well written with interesting characters and world building.
I just finished--and liked--Jacob by Jacquelyn Frank.
I am now (gasp!) between books and wondering what to read next. I am thinking of picking up
It is considering it's by the same author that writes the Princess Diaries books. lol It's one reason it took me completely by surprise. It's Airhead by Meg Cabot. (My one word title book for April lol)
I had no idea what I was getting myself into when I picked up this book. lol The inside cover of the book doesn't explain what's going to happen (although now that I peek at the goodreads overview it tells a bit about it, which, of course, I didn't look at before starting to read it). A girl gets a brain transplant and wakes up in another person's body, who just so happens to be a famous model. And this is a YA book! lol
You've all corrupted me a teensy tiny bit. lol While hunting for really old books to fit certain years for the Lifetime challange, I had to have a book for 1969. I dug through boxes and had two choices... this was the better of the two: Secret of the Pale Lover by Clarrisa Ross. It's a Gothic story about a vampire. I don't know when I'll get to it, but it's on the list.
I think I've read myself out this week. I'm loving Iron Kissed, but am just not in a reading mood... hrm.
Just finished Soul Mates Bound by Blood. I liked it. There was definatly a massive amount of m/m, vampy, wolfy lovein'...which was fun. I bought the first three books in the series, so I have the next two to read and I'm looking forward to them.
