442577 It just so depends on the book and movie for me. I am ridiculously easy to please with a movie. Harder to please with a book, but yet a voracious reader. Most times I am happy with both.
The changes which seem pointless from page to screen bother me sometimes, like deleting characters or adding characters, or changing seemingly essential plot lines bother me the most. But sometimes it's still OK.

1479469 I too prefer to see a movie before reading the book. This way you can't get disappointed. I really loved Bridget Jones's Diary by Helen Fielding but the movie was awful. A friend of mine first watched the movie and then read the book. She liked the movie but had to admit that she wouldn't have liked it if she had first read the book.
I know only one movie that was as good as the book: IN HER SHOES.

611457 I have discovered that if I am going to see a movie taken from a book I prefer to see the movie first. If I read the book first I am always disappointed in the movie. The movie can never do justice to a good book.
Just wondering what other people think.
