I can't believe March is almost over until someone mentioned when will the April Challenge list come out.

After discovering new authors last February and trying out new sub-genres this month, I'm sure plenty of us would like to continue with some of the great storylines that we have discovered. So I nicknamed this challege, Serial April.

The challenge is to read 9 books that belong to 9 different series. Doesn't matter whether it is the beginning, middle or end. Easy enough...LOL. I have a feeling the problem is not filling out the required 9, but trimming it down to the specific 9.

Have fun putting your list together, everyone.

Challenge Duration: April 1 - April 30, 2009

You can put your tentative list up...but no reading yet until April 1st for these books.

OOHHH, this is a GOOD one. I'm in. Now, to just decide WHICH 9 series. :o)

Well, I already know a few, so here goes

1--My Favourite Earthling (follow up to book read in March)

2--Don't Talk Back to Your Vampire--in the Broken Heart, OK series. Its actually before the one I read for the March challenge, but hey, I didn't realize that when I did the March book. :o)

3--Devil May Ride--Ghost Dusters book, not sure what number, but I've read the others up til now. This is, I think book 3.

4--Year of the Griffin--book 2 after Dark Lord of Derkholm. This is by Diana Wynne Jones, and, if it measures up to the previous one, it will be GREAT. (btw, just as a spoiler if you haven't read book 1--the Griffin--a real, part eagle, part lion Griff--is the daughter of the human Dark Lord refered to in the previous title)

5--Yes, I'm going to find another of the Dark Hunter books by Sherilyn Kenyon to read. Don't know which one, but 1 of them

Altho, I belive the next Dresden comes out in April--if so, that will definately be one of the books I'm choosing for April.

Nichole (Dirty H) (DirtyH) This challenge is perfect - it's exactly what I need. I've started sooo many series in the last couple of months, and I want to keep reading them! Thanks, Yz!

1. Magic Burns by Ilona Andrews
2. Claimed by Shadow by Karen Chance
3. Desire Unchained by Larissa Ione
4. Dance With The Devil by Sherrilyn Kenyon
5. Deadly Desire by Keri Arthur
6. Bitten by Kelley Armstrong
7. The Darkest Kiss by Gena Showalter
8. Faefever by Karen Marie Moning
9. Witch Blood by Anya Bast

I'm tossing in Ill Wind by Rachel Caine as an alternate because I have a feeling at least one of the books above will fall through. It's the April UF group read.

The Flooze (the_flooze) | 1593 comments Ooo, Dance with the Devil. Yum yum yum. I love Psycho-ass.

(that will sound really bizarre to the DH non-readers...)

message 7: by Nichole (Dirty H) (last edited Mar 22, 2009 12:06PM) (new)

Nichole (Dirty H) (DirtyH) I have not been overly impressed with the Dark Hunter series so far, but I don't hate it and I have heard so much about Zarek I figured I should at least get through that one before I give up. I'm reading Night Embrace right now, though it's been back burnered for The Darkest Night for the time being.

message 8: by DarkHeart "Vehngeance" (last edited Mar 30, 2009 03:22AM) (new)

DarkHeart "Vehngeance" (DarkHeart) | 737 comments Mwahaha, the month hasn't even started yet, and I've already swapped out two books. Plus I added the pretty covers, because I want to be cool too. ;)

1. Lover Avenged (Black Dagger Brotherhood, #7)- J.R. Ward
2. Succubus Blues (Georgia Kinkaid, #1) - Richelle Mead
3. Red-Headed Stepchild (Sabina Kane, #1) - Jaye Wells
4. The Nymphos of Rocky Flats A Novel (Felix Gomez, #1) - Mario Acevedo
5. Ill Wind (Weather Warden, #1) - Rachel Caine
6. The Devil Inside (Morgan Kinsley, #1) - Jenna Black
7. Passion Unleashed (Demonica, #3) - Larissa Ione
8. Fire Me Up (Aisling Grey, #2) - Katie MacAlister
9. Stray (Werecats, #1) - Rachel Vincent

Lover Avenged (Black Dagger Brotherhood, Book 7) by J.R. Ward Succubus Blues (Georgina Kincaid, Book 1) by Richelle Mead Red-Headed Stepchild (Sabina Kane, Book 1) by Jaye Wells The Nymphos of Rocky Flats (Felix Gomez, Book 1) by Mario Acevedo Ill Wind (Weather Warden, Book 1) by Rachel Caine The Devil Inside (Morgan Kingsley, book 1) by Jenna Black Passion Unleashed (Demonica, Book 3) by Larissa Ione Fire Me Up (Aisling Grey, Guardian, Book 2) by Katie MacAlister Stray (Werecats, Book 1) by Rachel Vincent

The Flooze (the_flooze) | 1593 comments DarkHeart, I just read Succubus Dreams. It's a lot more serious than the previous ones. And it makes me want more Carter-I find him most intriguing.

Nichole: I remember us having this convo on another thread. If you finished Kyrian's and still weren't thrilled, I'm not too optimistic about converting you.

But yes, most of the fans love Zarek's story. If you didn't read the book before his and need any background info, lemme know.

Simi and her shopping list. Tee hee...

Nichole (Dirty H) (DirtyH) DarkHeart - Yay, you're reading the Devil Inside! I really think you'll like it. I'm excited.

Michelle M - I plan on being fully caught up by the time I read Zarek's book. I started Talon's a couple nights ago and should be done with it by the end of the week. I believe there aren't any other books between Talon and Zarek, right? I think there might be a novella in an anthology but that you don't need to read that to know what's going on. (Right???)

The Flooze (the_flooze) | 1593 comments That should be right.

No, you don't need the short stories. They're truly extras and just expand on the world. Most are good, but not necessary. Fury's story is informative, but that's one of the latest installments.

Lady Ozma | 454 comments Awesome!!!!! You know, funny enough, I was thinking we needed to have "Sequel month" where we could read nothing but follow ups. HAHA Too funny!

I'm IN! My mom texted me the deets at church and I wasn't even home and knew of four books instantly I could read! ROFL. Bone Crossed - yay another Mercy! And the third Tate Hallaway book. The third Dresden novel. Etc etc. This is gonna be such a piece of cake. I have so many series books and I've been itching to read some but these challenges have kept me from it! HEHEHE I'm really excited!!!! And a good thing because April is shaping up busy with Easter and Ravencon and stuff.

My real worry is going to be May. My May is going to be INSANE. I seem to have something every weekend, plus an entire week. If I could afford a second week as well. LOL

But I'm excited. YZ because of your challenges I have read 43 books this year! THANK YOU!!!!! I look forward to breaking FIFTY in April! :)

Mickey (MickeyBooks) | 5 comments Oh I am going to love this challenge! I already had like 5 books I wanted to read from series! :)

Does it have to PNR for the challenge...can the book be just Urban PN/Fantasy?

Kristen I'll have to see how far I get in my March reading before deciding what to read for April's challenge.. gah!

Actually, that was my bad... I'm actually going to be reading Succubus Blues. I've only read her Vampire Academy books - but I loved them!

LOL, I'm expecting to love it and and run out and buy the rest of the series (like I did with the Vampire Academy book). I'm going to to struggle with this challenge for that very reason! ;)

Stav (voliotisa) | 291 comments Ok, with the exception of one book I've listed that's not PNR just good old PN, I have my list...I will get to read some stuff I bought and set aside due to my Dark-Hunter addiction, start a few new series, and catch up with some others... I <3 Mead's Succubus Series...I hope you enjoy it :)

Nichole (Dirty H) (DirtyH) Stav-

I think most of us usually do a pretty good mix of PNR and UF. Don't feel like you have to stick to PNR if you have some good Urban Fantasy books you want to read!

Stav (voliotisa) | 291 comments Thanks Nicole!

How are you like the Dark-Hunters so far? I started reading them right at the end of February, and am hooked right now.

They're alright. I'm definitely not hooked, but I don't want to throw them at the wall, either. I'll probably stop reading them after Zarek's book unless lightning strikes.

Karen, Ann, Oz, and Lori, made me laugh with your reaction to this challenge. I was weighing whether this is the right challenge for this month, and you, guys, just gave me the approving thumbs-up...

On my own, I'm personally waiting about which book I will finish this month..(going slow on my reading...blame work on that and a slight bout of depression..LOL) before I put up my list.

Sometimes choosing what to read is as much fun as actually reading..LOL

Gail | 110 comments Oh yeah, I'll be on this one.

I'm not finishing a number of the books I had down for March--I just don't think I'll get to them. (I can't even find my March list on the discussion board, but I'm partway into two of the books and having trouble finishing...)

So, some of the books will move from March to April. Some will change. I have Nalini Singh's Angel's Blood to read. It's going on there. (Nalini and I have a mutual admiration society going. Love her books.)

I still have the Rachel Caine Weather Wardens book to read. But I also want to read the new book in Mary Balogh's historical Huxtable siblings series. AND I picked up the review copy of Lisa Kleypas's new contemporary hardback at the newspaper where I work parttime. I want to read that too.

But I have lots of PNR I want to read--if I have time for much reading. It will probably take me the rest of the week--which is all there is left of March-- to finish the Waddell and the Cole I'm working on, so some of the stuff will move to this list...

Lady Ozma | 454 comments YZ - it is great! I really was thinking that we needed to have one just like this sooooon because of all the great series just languishing on my shelves because of the other challenges which of course bring more great series to languish on my shelf. LOL
