1966153 That's exactly what I thought! I actually had to put it down and read something else until I felt like I could read it again! I loved it, but at times I really wanted to stop altogether!

Thanks, Julie. My great-grandfather settled in Nebraska and I heard tales of the dustbowl years from my grandfather. I don't believe it was as bad there as it was in Oklahoma and the Texas panhandle, but what an awful time.

1966153 I learned a lot! I had always heard about the Dust Bowl, but never really new the extent of the toll it took on land and lives. I live in Eastern Kansas, so many of the locations were somewhat familiar to me.

1966153 I wish I could say I've seen the movie, but I haven't :( This has to be one of my most favorite books of all time though, so if the movie is half as good, I'd be happy!
