Did a little more research and wikipedia and Kenyon's site list the novels as being a series, but it includes only three books thus far. So sounds like she might be expanding. Maybe it depends on how well these sell.*crossing fingers*
It is a trilogy, but here's to hoping she'll expand it. :) Of course she probably neatly ends it in the third book and I'll probably just need to deal. :(
Lisarenee,
I'm glad to see your comments. I have the first two books. Is this a series or a trilogy?
The League series has been rereleased by Kenyon. For those of you wondering, this series has been modified and tweaked from it's original form. Kenyon has modified it to be the form she originally foresaw by combining all books under one publisher and letting the characters flow from one book to the next without appearing to be completely different stand alone books. Scenes originally deleted by editors have now found their rightful place back in series. Did I mention I'm hooked?
I agree she has so many characters and stories going on it's hard to figure out what's coming next. The last couple of books really went all over the timeline with information (new and old). Plus, she doesn't always start from the place she left off. She leaves us dangling longer than most of us would like.
***Spoilers for Dream Warrior***
I finally figure out what was said about Nick and his father:
"Nicks's father had a break with him (Noir). No one knows why. Centuries ago, the elder Malachai went into hidding with Noir and Azura chasing him every step of the way. A couple of decades ago, he decided to lay and egg and our current Malachai was born. As soon as Nick reached an age to replace his father, the old Malachai died." Bottom of page 159 paperback.
So I guess once a Malachai successor reaches maturity the old one dies. This would keep only one alive at a time. Really would make you want to have kids, huh?
Sans wrote: "Is Ms. Kenyon making her epic so convoluted that no one can figure out what she's doing anymore?"
I'll be honest, I have a hard time following sometimes...
Hmm, I'm hoping that as the other side of things unfold we revisit Cael and Amaranda(they were briefly mentioned in Dark Side of the Moon) I see potential for an interesting story there.
***Spoilers for Bad Moon Rising (BMR)***
Tara, I've been wondering the same things myself. BMR does the same thing as some of Kenyon's other books and is spread out over a large time span. As it is her most current book we need to assume (and yeah I know the saying about assuming things - LOL) that it ends at the most current time frame. So maybe (but with Kenyon all bets are usually off) the next book will answer that shocking question - What happens between Artemis and Nick? Does Nick still need to feed from someone? Will Artemis be his new supplier of nutrients or did his Malachai status render that an unneccessary evil? What about the Dark-Hunters? I want more Dark-Hunter stories will Nick have a role in making that happen? Maybe he'll finally find out what kind of sacrifice Ash made to free all the Dark-Hunters. Maybe that will allow Nick and Ash rebuild their friendship? I think we will see Tory again in another book at some time but since BMR was about Fang and Aimee she didn't have a place in that book.
Okay, I just finished BMR and I can't really figure out where it fits in the timeline. I mean, obviously since it revisits some scenes we already saw, in other books, I knew where we were, but by the end I was a little confused.I guess really I'd have to say after Acheron, the time line really starts to stump me. I know OSN takes place between the last chapter of Acheron and the epilogue of Acheron. And then Dream Warrior seems to follow that,I think but where does BMR end?
****ACHERON SPOILERS*****
In BMR there doesn't seem to be any mention of Tory. which is why I ask. And in Dream Warrior, we see Artemis but there is no mention of Nick with her. What happened after Ash's wedding?
Someone get the giant wall chart!

Thanks for asking!! I actually have 2 going and I'll tell you why. Book 1 is a Medieval PNR revolving several characters... the main characters being the books romance with a couple other couples introduced for possible future books.
The 2nd one I am working on came about by pure frustration and pissed-offness at my husband. It's a contemporary suspense/romance... very edgy... allows me to vent my own frustrations through my characters.
And it helps me to have the 2 going because when I'm in the mood to write less edgy, I can do book 1. If I'm edgier, book 2 gets my attention.
Dom wrote, "If that's true, then he could've lived out his life as a human, never tapping into his powers as Malachai."
In Dream Warrior they talk about Nick and it sounds like once he reached the proper age to become Malachai his father died and he became the new Malachai. I'll see if I can find the exact wording while I have the book. It seems to be hidden somewhere in there.
You all are so funny! I'm just too glad I'm not the only person obsessed with my books! My husband and kids have learned real quick not to play when it comes to them!! (LOL)Moi, I almost did the exact same thing when it came to Bad Moon Rising and Lover Avenged. The only reason I didn't buy two copies is because I wanted the excuse to buy the paperbacks later!! I'm going to J.R. Ward's Covet signing Oct. 3rd so that means I'll have to buy a second copy of that one too. How bad is this? I have considered buying the book on Tuesday because I can't wait and then buying another on that Saturday just for her to sign it!!
Lisa, I will never understand how Sherrilyn keeps track her criss-cross storylines. I wish she would do a book like J.R. Ward did for her boys, that would help so much. But it looks like she has so many books she is working on at once I don't know how she would fit it in. I started the series well after there were already 12 to 13 books. I wonder if she did get more of her Dark Hunter books out in a year back then. I thought she used to put out two a year? I agree though I wish she would push another Dark-hunter book out in 4 weeks from the last (one can hope, right?)!!
One more thing.
Unique, I have got to give you credit for being organized and creative enough to write. If you don't mind me asking, what type of books are interested in writing?

Indeed they do... and so do ours. LOL

***More Spoilers for Dream Warrior***
Forgot to mention I wonder what the relationship between Jaden and Jared is? Are they brothers or lovers? I foresee a book dedicated to this very information. I've been wondering about the two for awhile but didn't realize there was any connection between the two until this book. With the two names being so similar could they be brothes? Could they be fraternal twins? You know how parents of twins like to name them with similar names? I could go nuts trying to figure all this stuff out.

LOL I broke down and got the autographed hardcover of Lover Avenged by JR Ward as a birthday present to myself. Then, I couldn't wait for it to come in the mail so I broke down and bought another copy justifying it by saying that I didn't want to mess up my signed copy. LOLOL
I'm considering erecting a shrine to JR Ward and The Black Dagger Brotherhood. Can't wait for Covet by Ward.
Lisarenee,
I'm writing a book myself and I have a cork board with a summary of each chapter that has been written so far and then I have more notes written for what has to happen next. It helps me keep clear on where I have been, where I am and where I need to go. She MUST do something similar.
Uniquely Moi wrote: "BMR is the only book I haven't yet read. I know she said that Acheron was the pinnacle to the Dark Hunters and that starting with One Silent Night we would see the other side of the story, the Daim..."Girl, I feel the same way about the difference in hardback and paperback. (No need to explain)I'm a book addict too so patience is very hard for me when I really want to read a book!! I like mine in paperback because they are cheaper also. I just couldn't wait for this one, but I wish I had because now I have one hardback and the rest are paperback. Ughhh!!
Moi, BMR is what I believe Dom was waiting for - Fang and Aimee's story. So a Were-Bear and a Were-Wolf. It starts at an earlier time (which Kenyon loves to do) so you can see the whole romance from start to current and see how everything fits together. Because Kenyon started labeling the books as Dark-Hunter and Dream-Hunter I thought you could just read Dark-Hunter books without losing anything. This is not the case. The two series are so intertwined for the most part you need to read both or some important information could get lost. Kenyon really needs to come out with a handbook which includes time lines of the books, lineage of all the characters, and I'm sure a lot of other information that is at the moment escaping my thoughts. I've been wondering how Kenyon keeps everything straight? I imagine a room with all sorts of information on the wall about her books. Kind of like you see on detective shows with maps, time lines, character pictures with dossiers, etc. LOL
Stacey, I agree too many unanswered questions! I read in Wikipedia that Kenyon can crank out a book in 4 weeks time. Wouldn't that be nice? I'm dying to find out what the next book will contain. I've read all the books now, but still need to read some of the stories in the anthologies. Wish Kenyon would do like Charlaine Harris and put all her anthology stories and freebie stories into one book. Some of them are impossible to find.
BMR is the only book I haven't yet read. I know she said that Acheron was the pinnacle to the Dark Hunters and that starting with One Silent Night we would see the other side of the story, the Daimons side.
I'll have to try and get my hands on BMR. I'm so upset with books coming out in hardcover. For one thing, I want all my books to match.. LOL not some paperback, some hard cover. So I wait until they are out in paperback, and check out the hardcovers from libraries. Probably sounds dumb, but dang, hardcovers are expensive and I am a book addict.

awesome! thanks for the info!
I would classifyit more as a Werehuter novel. Ash is mentioned toward the end, but only briefly, and he is definitely not a major player in the book. What I'm wondering is whether or not she is going to steer away from the Dark Hunters completely. Surely not though since the series is called Dark Hunters, right? right? I don't know how far you have gotten in the series, but I'm sure you already know that Bad Moon Rising starts a new arc in it? (Oh man too many unanswered questions!!) (smile)
***Spoilers for Dream Warrior***
Story of Cratus AKA Jericho and Delphine.
Delphine is related to Leta (mom)
Cratus is related to Zelos (brother),God of rivalry, who is dead, Nike (sister) Goddess of Victory, A sister (name unknown),Goddess of Force, Father the God of Warcraft, mother Goddess of Hatred.
So I really loved this one. Thought the rip at Teletubbies was funny -
Jericho talks about, "...those weird furry people with padded coat hangers on their heads that look like space aliens on acid."
Berith says, "As a demon of torture, it behooves me to know all things that are deeply annoying. You'd be amazed how many people in the modern age no longer fear zombies as much as Teletubbies."
Jericho replies,"Not really. I'd rather battle a brain eating zombie any day than hear them sing." (pages 113-114 in paperback)
I was laughing so hard when I read all that. Also, I loved the phrase "Come over to the Dark side. They have cookies." My hubby bought a shirt for my youngest that says that. It's a black muscle shirt to boot. So of course I started laughing again.
On the serious side, was surpised to find out Delphine was Leta's daughter. I started disliking Zeus in this book when I found out the Oreroi were cursed and human relations killed because Zeus was afraid he'd lose his status as ruler. I also disliked Zeus for punishing Jericho because he couldn't bring himself to kill an innocent baby. That being said I kind of like how Kenyon makes the Gods just as dysfunctional as regular people. They are jealous, vain, proud, etc. I have to admit would be better if they weren't especially for those who end up at the wrong end of their displeasure.
Was surprised as we mentioned above that Madoc is related to Nick. When will we know everything about Nick? Seems like the surprises just keep coming. When is the next book due to come out? I feel like the suspense of everything has been hanging around for way to long. So many questions and with each book there are more. I wonder if the Chronicles will give us any new perspective on him? May have to check them out.
What we really need is a wall chart. Granted it would be a HUGE wall chart, but still. I'm just sayin'...
Oh, you joined at just the right time. Welcome. I literally just got done reading Dream Warrior last night. I was wondering the same thing as you. I think it has to be Cherise he's related to. But how? Maybe great granddaughter? Unless Madoc is part demon then it could be to Nick's dad. Maybe half siblings? I can't remember if they ever said what Madoc's lineage was. Darn! You really do need all the books to keep track of things.
Hi all! I'm new, but I just finished reading all of these books (LOVE THEM!) but since it was fresh in my mind I wanted to respond to the thing about unlocking Nick's powers. In One Silent Night, Savitar tells Ash, "His shield was solid so long as he wasn't struck by those of us who draw our powers from the Source." And then he said the reason they didn't unlock when Ash & Nick fought was possibly because Ash's powers were mixed, or because Ash was never a real threat to him so he didn't need to protect himself from Ash. And besides War, Ash and Savitar some of the others that draw their power from the source are Sin, his twin brother Zakar, Jared, Jericho, Nike, and I think the two demons from Dream Warrior, Noir and Azura. Okay, here's where I'm confused, okay maybe more curious. **SPOILER DREAM WARRIOR***
How is Madoc related to Nick? And does that make him from the evil side of the source power? OR is Madoc somehow related to Cherise, Nick's mom?
Thanks for the information. I think on her website there are like 3 books.
http://www.sherrilynkenyon.com/series.ph...
I checked Amazon and it doesn't have any used books. The dust cover doesn't say anything about a reissue, but does list it as one of her series so it's possible it's a reissue. Okay just checked ebay and looks like the series may have originally come out in 1996. Couldn't find anything anywhere else.
Lisarenee wrote: "I believe it's a new series. The first book comes out the 29th of this month. .."
Thanks, I'm adding it to my MUST BUY NOW list.
It might be a re-issue, I dont' know. I did hear her say that she had written several of the DH series books many, many years before they were released. She said none of the publishing companies thought they were any good. ROFLMAO Bet they are kicking themselves now.
Let me check the dust cover of BMR. I know it talked about it. My library doesn't have this one in it so if it's a reissue it hasn't been in publication for some time.
I believe it's a new series. The first book comes out the 29th of this month. The first book, Born of Night, is the one that has the link with 100 pages of it on display. You can read it to find out what it's about. Just remember since its Kenyon's so you may become hooked. ;)
I haven't read The League... wait, I thought there were already several books out. It's new? Any idea what it's about?
I just got a email from St. Martin's saying Kenyon's The League's first book is coming out on September 29th. They sent me a link to sneak peak 100 pages:
http://officialsanctuary.com/league_seri...
I'm really wondering where the DH series is going to lead. I love reading about the Were-Hunters, but I'm really curious to know how Kenyon's going to fix the "problem" of Artemis not wanting to set any more Dark-Hunters free.
Well, I guess that makes sense since in Silent Night I was wondering if the Daimens would no longer hunt humans. Does that mean we may see more of Simone and Kerryna? Aren't they of the demon type the Daimens are now hunting? Could cause some problems. May need to get my hands on a copy of Silent Night again to see which Demons the Daimens are hunting. Darn! You really need to have copies of these books laying around to figure things out. :)
The DH series isn't over. Somewhere I read that she said "there are 2 sides to every story and that all the books leading up to Acheron where one side, and now all the books starting with Stryker's story, One Silent Night is the beginning of the other side of the story, the Daimens (sp?) side."
This is the blurb about One Silent Night:
"While the world carries on unawares, Stryker, who leads an army of demons and vampires, is plotting an all out onslaught against his enemies—which, unfortunately for us, includes the entire human race. To avenge his sister, Stryker prepares to annihilate the Dark-Hunters. But things go awry when his oldest enemy returns. Enter his ex-wife. Zephyra. Just when he thought nothing could stop him, he’s now embroiled in a centuries old war with a shrew who gives new meaning to pain. "
Do you think that maybe Kat could somehow get the Dark-Hunter's souls from Artemis or do you think Kenyon has put an end to the Dark-Hunter series?
***Spoiler for Dream Chaser***
Story of Xypher and Simone
So I definitely read this book out of sequence. It was listed as a Dream-Hunter book and I wanted to read Archeon so badly I decided to skip it. I really like it. Xypher is another of Kenyon's men who need saving from themselves and of course is gorgeous. I wonder if Kenyon would ever consider having one of her male characters be in an ugly duckling type story where he's cursed to be ugly until he finds true love. Maybe because he had been so vain? Could be fun. Anyway I digress from the book at hand. Wondered what Simone was when Archeon told her to not be afraid of what she was. Jesse was such a geeky but sweet ghost. He made me laugh. The dancing made me laugh more. I thought it was nice that both Jesse and Simone found significant others at the same time. I do wonder why Gloria and Jesse are sticking around and not going to the light. Jesse's death didn't have anything that made me think he'd be stuck here. I guess maybe he just didn't want to go? Xypher giving up his quest for vengence was nice, but almost felt there should have been more attempts on Simone with closer calls to actually persuade Xypher to give up his quest in order to protect Simone. I felt that was when he should have discovered his love of Simone - when she would be almost lost to him. Would have made it a more tear jerking experience. Loved the shopping and restaurant scenes. Was chuckling to myself when Simone picked out his clothes.
Satara, the female version of the word Satan?, is really unlikable. I'm surprised her brother would really be all that upset if/when she dies. Makes you wonder what made her the way she is. Was she just born that way? Too bad she didn't get punished in this book.
***Winter Born from Stroke of Midnight anthology***
Story of Dante and Pandora.
Loved this one. Thought the whole Dragon Con was funny. liked that Ash and Simi were in this one. Liked finding out more about Inferno and it's owner. Werepathers sound an awful lot like the Werewolves.
I think that since Son and Claire are in Caldwell, and Claire was quite a famous attorney, The WARDen could still work them into a future book even in a small way.
I read The Story of Son and was going to post on the BDB thread later. I'm still finishing the rest of the book. Yes, I too love The Story of Son. I think Ward could have made a full blown book of it if she wanted. She's pretty darn talented. She just would have had to add a little more dimension to it. She could have started with Claire's dad's passing(could have been a questionable death), actually described the first meeting with Ms. Leed(maybe she could have been put under then and put through some tests), then there could have been some dream sequences, could have had more than just a quick solution to the escape, could have found out some family history/secrets when they returned to the family estate, etc. So I think it could have been stretched out and not lose anything.
