2145275 Just finished `Under the Dome`(brilliant book!). Still waiting to get `Breathless`. I promise I`ll have it read before Chritmas arrives! Currently though I`m reading `A Christmas Carol`. We`ve all seen the movie adaptations, & so I wanted to read the book to see if was as good as those films. So far so good!

What's been going on at the "other places," Lori?

2454496 Glad I was able to help on Your Heart Belongs To Me :-) I've got UTD waiting for me at the library! So many books!

message 291: by Lori (new)

2361637 I'm still on my guilty pleasure book. Went to Florida at Thanksgiving, & haven't had time to read sense i got back.

Damnit Dustin, i have Your Heart Belongs To Me, i haven't read it yet, but now i don't know if, or when i'll get to it because you make it sound so grand. I'v got UTD to read, & i'm hoping for Breathless for Christmas, so who knows if i'll ever get to YHBTM!

message 290: by Angie (new)

I agree, and maybe once you start the creative juices flowing, it will just keep on coming. I would like to know if you ever do start writing something

Thanks, Dustin. I have never looked at someone's writing before, so I had no idea.

I am already one of your goodreads friends, but I do not know how to view your story.

message 281: by Blake (new)

2938231 I would like to keep it a farely small audience, (Under 100 viewers) But the only requirement is that I have to accept them as a friend. I just don't think it would be a good idea to open my profile to the public so anybody can look and steal my ideas. :) But, if anybody in this group would like to view it, send my a friend request and I will accept as soon as possible

2454496 you should give the x-files a try :-) I bought the boxed set on sale at Costco and it sat for about a full year before I really started going through the 9 seasons. I still have not watched every episode but I've watched the ones that either were most recommended by fans or which sounded interesting to me. Check out the X-files discussion thread for my recommendations if you decide to give the show another chance.

In the past, I've enjoyed writing - ok so that past was in my writing classes when I had to write but I enjoyed it. Mostly all I end up writing these days are letters about issues. I'd like to try some creative writing again and since Goodreads has a section on each member's profile for writing samples - maybe someday I'll try to write for fun :-)

I enjoy written, over film most of the time also, but X-files creator Chris Carter did a fine job in my opinion. I still think many ideas for the X-files may have come from reading Dean Koontz - specifically Strangers.

2034124 How are others able to read your work, Blake?

message 278: by Blake (new)

2938231 Thanks for the positive review Dustin, and I have seen the X-Files a few times. But I never have gotten into it, just because it seems like any kind of Sci/Fi plot is always better in the written word. It seems like it's easier to believe if I can imagine it, and see it in my head rather than on the screen. Thanks again, and appreciate the feedback. I'm going to try to keep on writing as much as possibel as long as the ideas keep flowing.

Hey, there. I just posted another chapter for my book. I'm pretty excited the ideas seem to be flowing so far, the only problem I have is that I'm not a very fast typist, so that slow down the process quite a bit, but if I keep on writing maybe my speed will increase

2938231 There is a book called The Summons and it was written by JOhn Grisham, good book.
The Summoning, (which I just finished, also a good book is by Kelley Armstrong
Haven't ever heard of Summon the Keeper though sorry

message 274: by Dustin (new)

2454496 Jinnifer, I've also joined your YA group - glad to find a good group to discuss that genre Thanks :-)

message 273: by Tom (new)

2458751 There is no copyright for book titles, hence we can have more than one by different authors.
A good place to check for books and more is www.worldcat.org which is a worldwide database of books [and more:], in print and out of print.

I definely think that's a good idea. I have done little writing this evening, and I think I have come up with a pretty good concept for a book, i posted it so let me know what you guys think. I'll warn you though I haven't attended any workshops or anything and I just wanted to get some opinions

2034124 Jinnifer wrote: "I am already in a group for YA reads so Blake and Dustin need to join with me :)"

I recall you mentioning that before, Jinnifer. I agree, they should join with you, as it seems they would both enjoy it, based on what they have said here.

2454496 Deanna is our moderator! She'll be back someday :-) I'm guessing Jackie is busy with other books or things right now - I think she posted that she was gonna wait a while to read Breathless, but she was really active here for a long time. Maybe they'll read these posts and reply. btw, Jason "Slo" are you coming back from Fraternity Leave? J/K but hope to see all you lost peoples back soon!

I have not read Percy Jackson and the Olympians, and The Summoning wasn't in the YA section of the library, but I'm pretty sure it's YA. It is a good book though, I havn't been able to put it down. It's about a 15 year old girl, and in the first 20 pages or so she gets her first period, so that kinda weirded me out a little. But I decided to keep on reading anyway, and I'm glad I did. I would reccomend this book to anyone who likes the Harry Potter books.

2938231 Decided after about page 5 that I wasn't going to like the Ranger's Apprentice so I started another book. It's called The Summoning

message 253: by Blake (new)

2938231 Well, somebody had just checked out the first book in the Mortal Instruments series, so I am now reading the Ranger's Apprentice series, and I don't know if I'll like it or not....

Blakesteeler, that is another of my favorite series. I really enjoyed them alot and she is about to come out with another installment in the series but it will be based on a main character and what happens to him and how he handles it. It sounds like we have alot of the same reads... :)

yeah, I'm just trying to knock some of the books off of my "to Read" list, and that just happened to be one of the first ones, I started reading and couldn't stop. Now I'm in the middle of the second book, and I'm kinda sad that the third book won't be out for some time now. I think I will read this one and then start on the Mortal Instruments Series. I'm sure you've heard of these... I hear they're really good
