1613077 reminded me about how much I loved Buffy (the TV series)

187563 not so much.

2103611 Special effects could have been better, along with some of the acting. The guy who played Edward, Robert Pattinson, eh. They should have picked someone hotter for Edward.

243419 Apparently, you'll get to see more of him in the next film.

message 7: by Ninja (new)

2103611 It'll be actually more of Jacob and Alice in the next one. Don't want to spoil too much for those who haven't read the books, so I won't tell you why.

243419 Perhaps it should have been according to the books' plot structure, but when has that ever held up against demographics? My comment was intended as a joke, as Pattinson was complaining how difficult it was for him to do nude love scenes on Yahoo yesterday.

message 9: by Ninja (new)

2103611 Yes, the fans want Rob. But Jacob isn't looking too much like Sharkboy anymore. He has grown so much!
I think they'll keep it pretty close to the book, what with the new director and everything.

message 10: by George (new)

243419 Time will tell. but I say the producers will follow the money.

2103611 True true.

612709 it was actually not unlike the books... that confused me... it was good, but i didn't think it would be at first...

They left out some pretty important stuff, like Jasper's power and how Alice became a Vampire. There are more, I just can't think of them right now.

772754 Ok i didn't really like it... they should make a new one!

Bella couldn't act... she looked like she was on drugs the whole way through and she had the same face and i KNOW in the book she says more than 3 syllables... but in the movie she barley spoke it seemed.

Really bad special effects... the "running" was bad, and what was with that whole ordeal... they looked liked they were flying, as i remember, in the book Stephenie described it running. The effects in the fight scene and the baseball scene were okay...

They left out some of the funny parts... but they left in a few too. The part were Edward was in biology w/ Bella, was making me cried cuz i laughed so hard. And i have to agree that when Edward picked up Bella when she was being stalked... when he stared at the guys was funny; he didn't seem too scary, just plain funny. And if i were those guys and all Edward did was look at me strange i would have just laughed and punched him!

Jasper was a perfect actor for this movie. In the book he is supposed to look like a freak. So once they showed Jasper at the Cullen’s' house the whole theatre laughed!

The meadow scene disappointed me the most. He supposed to take her there and show her how he "sparkles" (again another BAD effect. I thought he would have like diamond sparkles one some parts of his body, but they made him look fuzzy, lol!), but he took her to this really non-meadow-y place. Then, they arrive at the Meadow, but he doesn't say that it is the meadow, and they just lie down and stare at each other! Also, they were supposed to hike on the trail and that's were Bella freaks cuz she's so clumsy.

The lullaby... It made me want to throw popcorn at the screen. I thought that h gives a CD to Bella and he shows her the song. But they just had him playing the song and had scenes with the music in the background. So anybody who didn't read the book would have thought that it was just a song, and not a song Edward wrote specifically for Bella.

I did like that they had the two scenes with James, V and L at before they showed them at the baseball scene. That made it more interesting.

If you saw the movie without reading the book(s) i don't think they would have understood everything... you had to read the book to see the movie.

I did here that they were probably finding a new actor for Jacob... Taylor L (actor) was ewwww and i didn't like him at all, so them changing the actor before New Moon would be great... cuz it's mostly about Jacob.

Anyway over all i didn't think it was horrible... it was close... but i didn't LOVE it!

1676050 Wow, that was a long comment! i'm impressed! if i type for to long i start typing that same things over again, that same things over again, (Heh, jk)
The movie was okay. my favourite characters in the movie were charlie, esme, rosalie, and jacob.

940337 yeah ha ha I think that's the longest Ive seen Miranda do yet.

Nophoto-m-25x33 I wasn't completely convinced... I liked it but I only really liked it because it seemed to take lots of little things that made other films of the same vein great. Tee Hee vein...

Lost Boys, Kindred: The Series, Buffy etc etc... I think I'll need to watch it again.

Also felt the director could have had some balls and shot a more adult version of the scenes for an unrated cut when it came to the mild horror/violence. They seemed to make it appeal towards that audience a touch and should have exploited it a little bit more. The fight scene towards the end could have been extended in an unrated cut...

Blah!!! Must watch again!

1833460 I like it but I love corny movies. I agree about the fight scene at the end.

1245266 Meh. . . Not impressed with the acting, special effects, or some of the changes from book to film. It seemed extremely rushed to me, leaving out key character points and histories(esp. if they're going to do more films). The actress looked stoned half the time and their relationship never seemed true, just forced. I wasn't impressed with the book(s), either, but read it to have something to talk about with my students and my 7th grade daughter. I'm glad that, like the Harry Potter books, this series has made kids excited to read and I understand the target audience, but that doesn't mean you make a poor film adaptation when you have a chance to actually improve the story in a different medium. I DID like the touch of putting in James et. al. earlier to build the tension. And, the soundtrack is great. For a vampire movie with an inter-racial relationship, Let the Right One In was far superior.

1130679 I thought the movie was bad. The acting was bad; mediocure and drab as if the actors knew of no background to their characters. And it was boring. No suspense to keep one going. Yes, I read the book; thought that got boring too. I thought the movie was so bad that I could not finish it.

1895069 I enjoyed the book but couldn't watch the film- I turned it off after 15 mins!

1205628 I just watched it last night. I enjoyed it, and expected it to venture into cheesey. The cheese was kept to a pleasant minimum.

I thought it was a pretty good representation of the book. I'll watch the rest on DVD as well. If I remember correctly the next 2 books were really angsty and I like being able to fast forward through all those hurt teenage looks.

993802 I watched Twilight a couple of weeks ago from netflix. I have never read the books. I admit I just watched it to see what all of the cultural hype was about.

I have to say I was disappointed at the movie. First, the idea of a love story between an unusual & different girl who isn't exceptionally attractive and a brooding hot guy is not original. Lord Byron was the original model for the vampire and the premise of the plain girl scoring the brooding employer was perfected in Charlotte Bronte's Jane Eyre.
Bella is the modern Jane Eyre, but Mr. Rochester has been upgraded to a vampire so teenage girls everywhere can dream that their supernatural prince will appear to them.

Second, the acting was mediocre and the actress who played Bella just had to resort to looking sad or alternatively being obsessed with the hero.

I didn't like the film and I have no desire to read the books now.

979193 The only book out the series that was remotely good was the last one, it had all the cool stuff in it, the others were just flat and boring.

I never thought to compare the show to Jane Eyre, but I guess I could see the comparision now..lol.
