2489840 Kathryn, did you like A Great and Terrible Beauty and Uglies?

1696615 Let me know what youthink of them!!!!

message 33: by Carol (new)

2046576 Maybe I´ll start with the Private series then :)

message 32: by Kathryn (new)

1696615 Yeah they are. Plus I liked the boarding school atmosphere. I liked the characters better and the way the story was written had the characters thinking and acting in a more upper class manor. I just really love Private and the Billings Girls and Reed Brennan.

message 31: by Carol (new)

2046576 It´s in my TBR list too. The girls sounds more classy then the Gossip Girl series.

message 30: by Kathryn (new)

1696615 Then you might enjoy the books. I prefer the private series by kate brian.

It is okay. It was different then the tv show... I am not sure that I will continue to read the series but it was okay. I listened to it on audio.

1696615 Becky I am with you. I don't like poetry. Never have. Why can't we just call a square a square? Why does there have to be deeper hidden meanings in poetry? Why does it have to be so complicated?

message 9: by Becky (new)

1376766 I have the Signet Classic edition which contains both "Paradise Lost" and "Paradise Regained".

I'm with Lori here though, because I feel intimidated by this kind of poetry! I don't like poetry to begin with, but I picked this up used because I feel like its one of those books that should be read at least once before I die. Just flipping through it makes me queasy though! I don't enjoy reading in verse, and this looks like its pretty intense.

I will read it this year though. I will. I will!

I've read Paradise Lost! I had to read it for a class and the edition which I have was edited by Alistair Fowler and has really good, albeit detailed footnotes.

1696615 Lori, this was a young adult novel by the same title... it wasn't the poem at all so it wasn't hard to understand because of that. In High School, we had to read a bit of Paradise Lost, the poem, and it went over my head, but then again, poetry always does... Have you tried to read Paradise Lost (the poem)?

369169 Kathryn, I own Paradise Lost, was it hard to understand. That epic poem scares me a bit!

message 1: by Kathryn (new)

1696615 I want to read fifty books this year! I will start with books I've already read the year!

(1) Paradise Lost
Oops, I don't remember what else I gave read! I will have to look it up!
