Ivy Has anyone heard anything about whether there will be a sequel to The Night Circus or if Erin Morgenstern will be releasing any other books any time soon?

Can you give us a link to the interview? I'd love to read it. Did she drop any hints on when we can expect the book?

Not sure what to make of her author crush, when it comes to Dashiell Hammett I'm at a loss to see what people find in his writing.

Judy Hi, when I saw Erin Morgenstern's video chat on Goodreads she said "no sequel to Night Circus". I do realize anyone can change their mind, but why spoil the fun of such a good book. Sometimes the sequel isn't as good as the first book.

Cateline ennh, a sequel would only rehash IMO, I like the way the story ended, as it stands.

Gah, awesome! I really really love all things Alice and this would be such an amazing thing.

Marilee I was just reading Erin's blog. From what I could garner, she's working on a book, but not in the throes of full on "I know where this is going and what it's going to be" writing.

This process sounds much like what she mentioned in the Psychology Today interview. She has the pieces, but not the book yet. I guess it's going to take awhile.

"JH: What was the most challenging aspect of developing this story? [The Night Circus]

EM: It didn't have a plot for a very long time. Really, my biggest challenge was finding the actual story within all the atmosphere. I had the place and the characters and the feel of the book long before it had a proper story structure to tie everything together. The novel went through a great many revisions before it figured out what it wanted to be, I tried things that didn't work and then things that sort of worked and replaced old ideas with new ones until I got it right."

Kim Good things come to those who wait, but I wish we could wave a magic prolific wand and have more of her work sooner. (Or maybe she just needs some plotting pixie dust.) I don't have to have a sequel to Night Circus, but I would definitely like to see her apply more of what she brought to that book to other narratives.

Louise I am curious about the contortionist. I'd like to know about that 'competition', even though we know she won. So, maybe a prequel novella......

message 16: by Kim (new) - rated it 5 stars

Kim If I were EM, Louise, I'd seriously consider that idea.
