Catherine Leilani's reading/read this one too. How did you like it? Seriously, recommend it?

Rosie I really connected with several of the authors (esp bell hooks). However, there were some that I could really care less about. I do definitely think it takes a different approach to self-destruction where it isn't seen as "bad" or "good" but just describes it. I just gave this book to one of my students who was was a 5150 and was in the hospital for a week. She definitely has found something in this book that speaks for her. Read it!

Ilze What does it mean to be 5150?

Somehow I can't help mentioning Judi Hollis' Fat and Furious. If you focus on the "furious" rather than the "fat", it makes a lot of sense to someone who struggles with self-destruction (be it anorexia, obesity, cutting, etc. etc.)

PS Alice Miller has written a lot on this topic too.
