...and basically, if you think of one, you can mention it in a comment, and I'll add it to my super-anal-organized lists above ;)
I just wanted to get spaces left open for books before any chatter started.
Question for anyone/everyone...
Would you consider a sports romance one that actively involves the sport, or is it any romance involving an athlete, even a retired one.
EDIT - Chicago Star series...just double checking...that is Football, right? I haven't read any, but I have some in Mt. TBR
Yes it is a football series. I only read one book, (#8) before I realized it is part of a series. So now I have all of them to read.
As far as a sports romance, I would have to say the the book or series should revolve around the sport in question. Whether the characters currently play or not.
Here's a few more for you Isis:
Hockey: Hunks Of Hockey--Erica DeQuaya (Erotic)
Baseball: The Man for Me--Gemma Bruce;
Boys Of Summer (Harlequin Blaze #264) Fever Pitch\The Sweet Spot\Sliding Home--Julie Elizabeth Leto
Football: Line of Scrimmage--Marie Force
Game for Anything and Game for Seduction--Bella Andre
Soccer: A Grand Passion--Samantha Winston
Auntee...aren't a couple of those erotic romances? I didn't originally include those because I was just going for contemporary romances. But we can include the erotic ones too...I'd just note that near them so others would know.
LOL!! I knew Auntee and Isis would list all the good ones. =)
How come there aren't any basketball romances? I saw a discussion thread on this subject on Amazon a while back. SEP's new book What I Did for Love has a few small scenes with b-ball players, but that's the closest I've come to reading one.
I don't think I've even seen any that were basketball and I just didn't want to read them. Kinda weird.Racing is by far the most popular, I think. Harlequin/HQN really likes NASCAR romances and there are a lot that probably haven't listed. NASCAR is just very popular these days. Which is kinda funny to me. Just as it was getting so huge, I stopped following it.
Isis, "Hunks of Hockey" is erotic, but "Game for Anything" and "Game For Seduction" are probably on par with "Flat-Out Sexy", and even though "A Grand Passion" is an EC, I don't remember it as being all that erotic.
SEP's Lady Be Good and Fancy Pants are about golfers - if that qualifies under the sports romance theme. I recall reading a book last year about a hero who played rugby. I'll have to look through my bookshelves ...
Here's another one, Luanne Rice's "Summer Light". It doesn't deal too much directly with the sport, if I remember right (read it ages ago). But the hero is a hockey player facing a career ending, and life changing, eye problem. So it's sports related....and I'll add the most recent ones to the lists.
Jen Crusie's Manhunting is about a former-attorney-turned lodge owner who fishes all the time and I KNOW I've read another one about a professional fisherman, but I'll have to scan my shelves again. (This would probably be a great time to set up my sports romance shelf.)
Table for Five involves golf and its by susan wiggs and her Fireside book is about a baseball star. Fireside is part of a series but it works as a stand alone.
My Man Micheal,
I never read sport books but I didn`t have anything else and picked up Lori Fosters My Man Micheal and really enjoyed it,it is a part of a series that I need to look into.
Does anyone know of any cont. romances where the female is the athlete??? The only one I've found so far is by Cindi Myers called The right Mr. Wrong, where she is a former Olympic skiier.
In Just One of the Guys (Kristan Higgins) the heroine is super-skilled with oars and she is also a runner. Great book!
This is a very old Mills&Boon book with a Tennis player as the star. I read this when I was in my teens and it has left an impression.
Love Match by Roberta Leigh
Here is a link with an actual blurb:

Gemma wrote: "Does anyone know of any cont. romances where the female is the athlete??? She's an "extreme adventurer" (skiing, rafting, etc.).
More baseball:Sliding Into Home by Joanne Rock
Hard and Fast by Lisa Renee Jones
Sliding Home by Kate Angell (coming this month)
Kim wrote: "The heroine is a boxer?"Yep. The hero owns a gym and wants to hire a male boxing instructor, but he ends up hiring a female boxer.

Oops, and I was wrong on Snowbound. Hero is a ski patroller and heroine is a radio operator. Nevermind! I had gotten the heroine from Strike Zone mixed up with the Snowbound heroine.
Surf Girl School by Cathy Yardley - hero is a surf instructor who gives heroine lessonsSuddenly Sexy by Linda Francis Lee - hero is a golfer
He Loves Me, He Loves Me Knot by Heidi Betts - hero is a hockey player
And here are a couple of good lists:
