Oh, I forgot I also got An Infamous Army in the bargain bin at work. It's not a historical romance - it's historical fiction. Haven't read that either. *woe*
That's exactly it! I'm loving the covers of these new trade paper editions and my fingers are itching to put them in my Amazon basket or add them to the stack I'm carrying around at Borders. >_<I'll start with The Black Moth. From the library if they have it. Thank you Julie!!
There seem to be two varieties of the re-issues: ones with a white back/spine and ones with a colored back/spine, like pink or yellow or green etc.. For some reason the white-covered ones don't affect me in the same way. The overall design doesn't seem quite as compelling.I think The Black Moth is a good place to start. I found out long after I read it that it is, in fact, Georgette Heyer's first historical romance. Enjoy!
Hi everyone!I'm sorry I haven't been around much. I've been busy with work and preparing for a 4 week holiday that my hubby and I are going on starting on Nov 15. Less than 3 weeks to go! :-) I've been busy reading Lonely Planet books etc. and haven't had much time for other leisure reading (or keeping up with my BoTMs) ....or to participate in all the fun here. :-(
But I just wanted to leave a basket of cookies and brownies for everyone and to say I miss you guys!

Hope everyone is well!
Take care,
Jayne xoxo ^_^
1) Awww, we miss you too!2) It's a good thing I made walnut brownies yesterday, otherwise there'd be drool all over my computer screen...
I ordered a Halloween cake for us but the bakery seems to have stuffed up the order and delievered the cake early and instead of a cake for "Hal-lo-ween", they sent me a "Mo-vie screen". Go figure! Must be my accent. ^o^Buuuuttt...... since Jenn is our Resident Movie Reviewer, I thought this cake was meant for Jenn. Enjoy your cake, Jenn! ^_~ And check out what's on the screen! Not quite your fave movie, but one of them does star in one of your fave movies of all time.

Thanks for all your excellent movie reviews, Jenn! How would we ever decide what to watch, or be informed about the Oscars, without you? ^_^
Everyone, please do grab a seat...Oops! I meant, slice. ^o^
it would be Just Excellent, Nifty, and Neat *cough* if someone was celebrating a b-day this month. too bad that isn't the case. well at least we have cake.
Random complaint. Is anyone else a little sick of urban fantasy and paranormal sci-fi books written in the first person? Seriously? Is that the only way some of these authors can write?
Awwww, thank you, Jayne, you are too sweet! <whispers to cake> Come here, you cute little alien, you...
And, Lisa, that would be very excellent, nifty and neat, wouldn't it? ^_~
Happy Halloween Everyone. My kids and I just got back from Trick or Treating. The kids are happily filling themselves with the candy the acquired. Hope you all are having fun! Did anyone else notice not as many people decorated this year?
Ah, this is the cake I had ordered.http://www.pinkcakebox.com/images/cake45...
Happy Hallooween, everyone!
I don't know if this is legit or not, but I know that MANY of you have been dying to get one:

Someone actually wore one to walmart:

Oh, that is painful....My brother and I have been snarking about the Snuggie ads since they started. During the Presidential campaign I saw Obama-print fleece at Walmart, and I was SOOOOO going to make him an Obama Snuggie (he is a huuuuge Obama supporter). But it was gone when I went back to get it, and I've never seen any since... *sniff, sniff*
A funny for the day. Dave says he wants to do this when he is older.

Hour 10 of stomach flu, fever, aches and chills. Starting to feel just bad instead of terrible. Maybe an end in sight?
I was just curious...do any of you use the Goodreads application on Facebook? If so, what do you think of it? I'm trying to figure out if there's a point to it or not.
I added it a while ago and then took it off because I didn't like that it added so much stuff to my feed. I'm more active on GR than FB!
Me too. I don't remember to get on FB very often. All the people I want to talk to don't post anything anyway, and I already talk to them in real life. I have more fun on GR.
I have it on mine. I don't usually have it post the stuff on here to there though, like when I add books. I am VERY active on here and I don't want to flood people's Facebooks with my book updates.
Ok so I noticed this weekend that I was finally being able to catch up on all of the posts that have been coming in. Seems like in the last few months there are a ton of new posts everyday where as in the past it could sometimes be a whole day without 1. What I realized was that "something" (you all know what I am talking about) was keeping everyone busy. I just thought it was funny how noticable the decline in posts was.
I refuse to comment on the grounds that I may incriminate myself. Please check your inbox so that you may refuse to incriminate yourself in the near future!!!!
Thought I'd share my chuckle for today. My Mom and her husband are once again thinking of moving down here and buying a house. So my 5 year old son asked, "How are they going to take it home with them?"
Lisa, when we moved from our last house, my son thought we forgot something HUGE. It had a three-car garage, and when we got to the new house, he started crying and said that we forgot the other garage!!! He was very concerned about how we would get it back. We never did! :)
Also, at school in kindergarten, he had to write a sentence starting with I. My little guy's sentence was, "I have a toylet." Yay! He definitely proves that theory that boys are WAY more fascinated with body parts and bodily functions. He loves to say the word toilet because everyone (not me) laughs. :)
Wow. I know it has been relatively quiet in here this week, with a bunch of people being out of town for vacations and Thanksgiving. I hope everyone had a great holiday! Glad to be back at home and almost back to normalcy (thank God school starts again tomorrow!).
So, I went to the grocery store and reached around to get the case of soda from the bottom of the cart and heard this ripping sound from my elbow and felt shooting pain. It didn't last long, and I think it will be okay, but a couple of times in the last hour, I moved in such a way that I saw stars.
I have weird cartelidge (carteledge?) as it is. Had issues before where I needed to wear slings and stabilizers for wrists and thumbs in the past and my knee has given out on me from time to time since I was a kid. I am just hoping this doesn't warrant a doctor visit. :(
Uh-oh. Fingers crossed, but I did that with my knee. I left it alone for years and it got steadily worse until I had to have surgery on it to remove the torn cartilage.
Oh man, I could almost hear it when I read your description... aaaaaaaaaaack! I hope you're doing better and/or visiting the doctor!
It started hurting bad last night, but I took three motrin and babied it. Today it feels better, but we'll see how it holds up after activity.
On a weird note, my toothbrush apparently was touching the soap last night because now my breath is not only pleasantly minty, but has a hint of lavendar...
The peppermint chip milkshakes at Chick-fil-a were CLEARLY sent to me by Satan in an attempt to make me gluttonously fat. Must...avoid...all...Chick-fil-a...restaurants.

My roommate and I had this exact same thought. There's a Chick-fil-a on the corner right by us. We have banished the evil and stayed the course so far.
But....now I want to try one... Darn! I didn't know about them till you said something. Are they better than Shamrock shakes?
I don't know what they are but let me tell you about these.
First, I love CFA milkshakes even more than the ones you get at locally owned milkshake places. So they take that yummy goodness and add peppermint flavoring. Then there are these teeny flakes of chocolate chips and peppermint candies. So you drink it like a milkshake, but then there are moments of crunchy goodness in between. It was amazing!
We don't have a Chick-fil-a or a Sonic here in Seattle. I think we might be missing something good.
I do get the Chick-fil-a calendar every year and that is somethin good! Nothin like cows dressed as Tubs and Cocket!
