1310564 I read 102 in 2008 and hope to beat that number in 2009. At the rate I’m going, that won’t be a problem.

Hopefully it doesn’t make me completely antisocial.

9: The Brief Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao by Junot Diaz (01/28/09)
10: The Last Lecture by Randy Pausch (01/29/09)

1637878 antisocial for reading too much? Impossible on GR!

Nice haul so far!

message 3: by Kandice (new)

1396160 You may end up anti-face to face social, but otherwise... you'll be fine! Plus, think of all you'll learn!

message 4: by Beth(MN) (new)

1310564 This is what I keep telling myself... :P

message 5: by Laura (new)

1394928 We're all about the love here on GR--the place for antisocial reading addicts!

message 6: by Allison (new)

1637878 my hubby is actually mad at me for being so anti social because I read so much...

guess he'll either get over it or learn to shut up! lol.

message 7: by Laura (new)

1394928 That's right - I like Lee Iacocca's phrase for that kind of stuff - either lead, follow, or get out of the way!

message 8: by Allison (new)

1637878 He hates to read and loves to be out doing things, so he just can't fathom my totally opposite personality.

I did make him read a book though! Pretty exciting, AND he liked it. Simple Plan by Scott Smith.

message 9: by Laura (new)

1394928 Thanks! Another TBR to add to the moountain!!!

message 10: by Allison (new)

1637878 hahaha, I know, it does look good, huh? I haven't read it yet either.

Stephen King sure gave it a rave review.

message 11: by Laura (new)

1394928 Wow, maybe I'll have to sneak it up higher on the list then!

message 12: by Laura (new)

1394928 Hey Allison - Here's another one your husband might like if he liked that one - Total Control by David Baldacci. If you haven't read Baldacci's older stuff, he's a great one for suspense.

message 13: by Laura (new)

1394928 Sorry Beth for mucking up your reading goals list. But if you haven't read Baldacci - you might want to! I can only vouch for his oldest stuff, tho, not the stuff he's doing now.

message 14: by Allison (new)

1637878 thanks for the rec! I'll give him a chance to process the fact that he actually read a book and enjoyed it (LITERALLY a first for him)...then I'll hit him with it :-)

message 15: by Beth(MN) (last edited Feb 21, 2009 06:23AM) (new)

1310564 No apologies necessary. :)

Especially since my husband sounds like he would get along perfectly with Allison's husband! He's an "Action Jackson" kind of guy who can't stand the thought of sitting quietly somewhere with a book.

I'm constantly on the lookout for audiobooks that may interest him because he spends 2.5 hours/day in the car for his commute. I'll have to check out Baldacci and see if I can tempt him!

message 16: by Laura (new)

1394928 Here are 2 more:

The Lincoln Lawyer
and its follow-up
The Brass Verdict

both by the great Michael Connelly.

My husband LOVED Lincoln Lawyer, and this was back when he only liked to read non-fic. He completely freaked out when he left the audiobook in the wrong car and couldn't find out what happened on his commute.

The performer of LL is terrific! One of the best by far, and I've read many audiobooks.

and a booooring text book
--Chasing Dirty Money

1572236 I love avid readers - it is so great to look to do a compare books with them - I was really happy to see my hubby's book on your TBR pile ;-). I'm also going to rearrange some of my tbr pile - I see you gave high marks to ICTC and this has been gnawing at me and seeing your 5 star review clinched it. I also think I can use it for the Spring Challenge. Thanks for sharing your list and goals!

1310564 Robin - your husband's book looks quite interesting...I don't own it so it might be awhile before I actually get to it, but someday...someday!

message 34: by Beth(MN) (new)

1310564 Charlaine Harris is both incredibly silly and incredibly addicting. I'm looking forward to the publication of the next Sookie book in May! :P
