1577174 I plan on reading 200 books I haven't already read this year. I was going to try to do it without buying more than one book per month, but I've already failed at that.

4. Middlesex. Jeffrey Eugenides

7. The Book Thief. Markus Zusak
8. Such a Pretty Fat. Jen Lancaster
9. The Graveyard Book. Neil Gaiman
10. Princess Diaries. Meg Cabot
11. Madness: A Bipolar Life. Marya Hornbacher
12. The Hour I First Believed. Wally Lamb
13. Just Listen. Sarah Dessen
14. A Wild Sheep Chase. Haruki Murakami
15. Bitter is the New Black. Jen Lancaster
16. Bright Lights, Big Ass. Jen Lancaster
17. Coraline. Neil Gaiman
18. Nineteen Minutes. Jodi Picoult
19. A Dirty Job. Christopher Moore

February

1637878 Good start, 200 here we come!

Did you like Gargoyle? Its on my TBR list, but I've heard a lot of mixed reviews that have kept me from picking it up over everything else I have to read...

1895628 200 is alot of books but you've made a great start.

Did you like The Book Thief?

369169 Wow. I stand in awe of people who can read soooo much.... I feel like a slow reader compared to you all!

1577174 Allison, I thought The Gargoyle was great. It will probably be one of my favorite books I read this year. This is the only time (so far) that all the hype surrounding a book has paid off.

Briansgirl, I thought The Book Thief was okay. I think I was maybe expecting too much out of it because of all the great things I'd heard? I think it's definitely worth reading - and pretty quick.

1577174 30. Fool

1637878 Good to know Justine, I'll try not to be scared of it then :-)

1412216 You're finished with Fool, Justine? What did you think of it? I feel the need to dig out King Lear and at least read the part with the fool.

message 9: by Justine (new)

1577174 I enjoyed it almost-but-not-quite as much as A Dirty Job (the only other Christopher Moore I've read). But I've now got King Lear on the TBR to see where the connections are.

1369783 I picked up a copy of Villette at a second-hand shop last year, but haven't cracked it yet. What did you think of it?

1577174 I read it online so it took forever and that kind of put it off to me. I thought a lot of parts were much more interesting than others, but a worthy read if you're into classics.

1530627 I read my first Charlaine Harris last month and loved it: gravesight.
what did you think about Jonathan strange? I really enjoyed it, flew through it.

message 20: by Justine (new)

1577174 Jonathon Strange was a little slow for me. I think a lot of it was the style of writing - like why Jane Austen is slow for me.
I've only read the Southern Vampire series, how was Gravesight?

265874 Wow you really read fast!!!

I thought I was a quick reader.
