Welcome po to both of you! Diversity is a great thing especially when it comes to book discussions. Please join us in any thread you prefer, sana kahit doon sa mga kulitan. ^_^

One of the reasons kaya anti-stress ko ang Filipinos here in Goodreads.
Glad to hear of it :) Thanks for the clarification

Whatever suits you Mr. Jalandoni...
Thanks, Lynai. Diverse sounds like no age discrimination to me.
Marco, yes, I take it back. Bagets means Aga Mulach and you are a lot young aer than that! In fact, yours will be more like Jonas Brothers' era. You are as young as my daughter.
Salamat, jzhunagev! Puwede bang palitan ang pangalan mo? Hirap i-type.... jzhu na lang kaya?
Nenette, thanks for joining me. I will invite my older brother Tata J so I will not be the oldest here. har har har
Thank for the welcome, Christine!

Medyo malayo nga lang from your place. But I love SM Manila because they have a 10-peso hardbound bin. No best-sellers there, but if you have an eye for rare, good books and the knack for finding them, then it's a steal.
The Makati Cinema square branch carries a lot of hardbounds as well and if you're lucky you can find best sellers for like 30 pesos a pop. The trick to booksale buying, IMO, is luck so really it doesn't matter which branch you go to. I personally think (as jhunagev once mentioned) it's the book that finds you. Happy Hunting :)
That's one thing that's a dream of mine to see happen in the Phils., for each town/city to have a fully acessible public library :)

Like Angeli, I love Jodi Picoult books, but I don't want to read them one after the other...Nakaka-umay din. I've actually read all of her books except Salem Falls (naghahanap pa ko ng bargain copY). Pinakagusto ko ang fiction, pero gusto ko din ng mga inspirational books....Favorite authors - Picoult, John Grisham, Ken Follett, Dean Koontz, Luanne Rice, Nicholas Sparks,Khaled Hosseini, Lisa See, etc. Nagustuhan ko din ang Harry Potter series at Twilight....For both HP and Twilight, it took me a while to decide to read them - reason being they were marketed as children's or teen's books. But once I started, I got hooked.
Puwede ba rito sumali? Nakita ko parang pang-bagets ito eh. Kaso, 45 y/o na ako pero mahilig akong magbasa so we have something in common. Last year, I was able to finish all the Twilight books in 1 month. So, nakaka-relate ako kay Charles. Last month, ginawa kong pang-halloween ang Interview with the Vampire ni Anne Rice.
Tumitingin din ako sa All-TIME 100 BEST NOVELS, PULITZER, MAN BOOKER, NATINAL AWARD at OPRAH SELECTION. Favorite kong bisitahin ang Megamall outlet nila dahil sa Mega ako nagla-lunch madalas at ang Waltermart Munoz dahil doon ako naggro-grocery (I'm married and a father of a 14 y/o who is also here in Goodreads).
Hope you accept me here.

oh hi teacher Purplycookie. have fun here. :D lovelots everyone :3 it was quite a long time :3 new comment~ yipee~ ^_^
Hi, my name's Purplycookie (guess I'm not into giving out my real name online). I'm an English teacher to Gr. 7 students. I looove reading; I simply can't deal w/o reading a few pages of a book (please, not text books) every day. I'm a HUGE Neil Gaiman fan (got 9 books signed by him already) and growing up I read mostly horror/supernatural books by Christopher Pike and horror/mythic fiction by Anne Rice. I've loved vampires since highschool (which was a very loong time ago) and can't abide by the newest vamp craze which involves vamps being too poseur.
The genres I tend to gravitate to are fantasy, children's, young adult (YA), mythic fiction, fairy tale fantasy, but I've been through a lot of phases from non fiction to detective mystery to horror.
Yeah, but the steak "filet mignon" is French for "cute ETA: Cute fillet, not cute steak
Marco wrote: "Canada...so you speak French? Mignon = Cute haha"haha. nope i don't i just stayed there for almost 2 years and i didn't get the chance to study in HS so yeah. haha. yeah i heard my name means cute..haha weird! but usually when people hear my name they automatically think of the steak :D :)) haha
