Very impressive Angela, I'm a slow reader so my goal is 30 - 40 this year. I was wondering if you ever get stuck on a book that you're just not enjoying - do you read it anyway or do you make up your mind within the first few pages whether to continue it or not. I was going along this year fairly well but then got stuck on a book (At Swim, Two Boys) that I didn't really like and so that has slowed me down. Now I feel like I have all this catching up to do. what you thought of Mystic River - I haven't read it yet but might read it next.

I loved Mystic River! Usually if I find myself stuck on a book, I will pick something up in between. It is very rare that I do not finish a book. It has to be absolutely horrific for me not to finish it.

What did you think of Geisha? Wasn't Hatsumomo nutters, and Pumpkin at the end, I was so let down by her. I loved Sayuri, though and Mameha.

I really enjoyed Memoirs of a Geisha! It was so interesting to read about a different culture and the life of a geisha. I did not like Hatsumomo's character at all and was also disappointed with Pumpkin's behavior at the end. I really wish she could have seen her sister one last time...

I loved this book, too. It got me researching Geisha. A great book about them is Geisha by Liza Dalby. It's awesome.
