934927 I loved it. I like Forster and haven't read a novel of his I didn't like. He really brings out controversy. Really gets you thinking. Also teaches us to mind our own business.

You know I sometimes talk with a french colleague but seem to switch often to english because automatically I start putting italian in between..

934927 That is a hard question. I really liked the Age of Innocence and The Comfort of Strangers. But Extremely Loud was great too. The one I disliked and will never ever read again is Clockwork Orange.

1637878 uuuhhhmmm...I don't remember what isn't in English. I THINK there might be a thread over at the 1001 group about it though. I know I talked to someone in that group about it...I don't think there are very many though.

1895628 I havn't heard of that one. I'm slowly working my way through some classics, a couple a year. I'm reading Pride and Prejudice right now with others in a group. I have the feeling if I tried alot of those books on the list I'd be reading stuff that wouldn't interest me (the 1001).

1637878 I think it might be impossible to read them all.

Especially if you aren't multilingual, because not all of those books are translated into English.

I like the Idiot's Guide to the Ultimate Reading List better, it has suggestions for everyting from mysteries to romance to sci-fi to classics...its a much more approachable list. There is a GR group for it too.
