Robyn Carr's Virgin River series! Also, her other contemporary books like "Never too Late," "House on Olive Street." Wonderful books.
House on Olive Street (Stand alone)
Never Too Late(Stand alone)Grace Valley Series: (Ties into Virgin River. A few characters from this series appear in the VR series). Please note: This trilogy MUST be read in order because the main h/h's relationship develops in all three of the books.

Well I just checked my favourites and they all fall under RS, PN or historical romance :-/
I really liked Sandra Hill's TALL DARK AND CAJUN even though it's not a favourite it's hilarious and a hard to put down read.
"Flat-Out Sexy" by Erin McCarthy. That was such a neat modern book. Can't wait for more by this author (on that series).
"SEALed with a Kiss" by Mary-Margaret Daughtridge was a neat feel-good, too and I'm looking forward to the next one in that series, too.
"Talk Me Down" by Victoria Dahl! I sure enjoyed this one. The humor, the characters...neat contemporary feel-good.
I have Flat Out Sex, and Talk Me Down in my to-read-soon pile...I really do plan to get to them...soon...I hope, LOL!
One of my very favorites is Catherine Anderson's "Phantom Waltz". There's just something about that book that really tugs at me. And I love the other earlier books in CA's Kendrick/Coulter/Harrigan series. Some others I've really enjoyed...Lori Foster's Visitation, NC series. Vicki Lewis Thompson's Nerd books...hmm, and some others I can't remember at the moment.
Kathrynn, you named a lot of my favorites, so I'll add some that weren't mentioned...
Susan Mallery's "Buchanans" series

Janelle Denison's "Wilde" series

and Deirdre Martin's "New York Blades" series

I also liked Phantom Waltz, Isis, but I think I like Baby Love a little better.I'm also a big fan of Lucy Monroe's book

The first two books in Marilyn Pappano's Bethlehem series were wonderful IMHO too

I just finished Laura Leone's

I thought it was excellent too, and plan to post my review for it tomorrow.
Auntee that view in Dierdre Martin's "Hot Ticket" looks pretty nice from here...Never read her books, though. Am I missing out?
Hard to choose faves... I do enjoy mostly romantic suspense but many of those probably fit more in the contemporary romance category. Lori Foster, Rachel Gibson and Sandra Hill are definitely in the top 10 or 20 or so. I've enjoyed Marianne Stillings, Jill Shalvis, Lauren Dane, NJ Walters, Catherine Anderson, Dinah McCall, Robyn Carr, Alexis Fleming, Jennifer Labrecque, Lucy Monroe... etc to name a few :)
Kathrynn--I really enjoy her work. And you don't have to be a real sports fan, that plays a minor role in most of the books.
Enjoy that view too!
Julie--can't wait to read your review of the Laura Leone book!
A lot of my favorites have at least some romantic suspense in them.
Linda Howard: Mackenzie's Mountain, Mackenzie's Mission, Mackenzie's Pleasure, Mackenzie's Magic, A Game of Chance, Dream Man, After the Night, Duncan's Bride, Midnight Rainbow, Diamond Bay, Heartbreaker, White Lies, To Die For, Drop Dead Gorgeous, Mr. Perfect, Open Season, Kill and tell

Robyn Carr - Virgin River series
Nora Roberts - Born in Fire, Born in Ice, Jewels of the Sun, Carolina Moon

Elizabeth Lowell - Fire and Rain, Outlaw, Granite Man, Warrior, Dark Fire, A Woman Without Lies, Tell Me No Lies(old school contemporaries)

I like so many of these! My current favorites are:
Flat out Sexy, Erin McCarthy http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/28577...
All four Chase Bros books by Lauren Dane.
Good lord, I cannot get the hang of posting the cover links!
Hey Kim, To post the cover links:
1. Open a comment box
2. Look at the top right (just outside) the box:
"add book/author (some html is ok)"
3. Click "add book/author"
4. Type in the book name and if you want the cover to appear, check the small circle at the bottom for cover; otherwise, the link (Book title link) will appear.
Let me know if you have any problems and I'll see if I can help you through it.
Good luck!
You're welcome, Kim. It's not easy if a person doesn't know it's there. It was quite awhile before I noticed that hyperlink...:-)
I loved them both. I laughed all throughout TMD. Victoria Dahl is a very funny author. I loved the banter between the h/h. Wicked Burn is a little darker, but still a very good book, by an author that I think will do great things. She also grew up in central Illinois, not too far from were I was raised.
Nobody's mentioned Jennifer Crusie yet! I'm still hoping that she'll stop doing those stupid collaborations and go back to writing contemporary romance. *fingers crossed*I'm also a fan of SEP, Sandra Hill, Linda Howard and, most recently, Karen Rose. =) In the chick lit genre I really like Janet Evanovich, Mary Kay Andrews, Rhonda Pollero and Stephanie Bond.
Susan Wiggs Lakeshore Chronicles.

Linda Lael Millers McKettrick

I'm hoping to start Robyn Carr's Grace Valley and Virgin River series sometime soon. I have them all I'm just trying to clean up my TBR pile a litter first. Because I have a feeling I won't be able to put her books down.
Linda Lael Miller

My list of favorites is too long to list. I just finished reading the Creeds, loved the series.Diana PalmerDiana PalmerDiana Palmer
I've been seeing the Creed books at Walmart for a few weeks. I think I will order them when the third one comes out.
I'm loving the Montana Creed books, too. My favorite so far is Dylan
I also looooooooooved Susan Mallery's new book Under Her Skin. I love those Western men, tough and masculine. I can't wait for the rest of the books in the series. Don't you wish they'd just release all of them together?
Oh, and it's not a romance novel, but I also really liked Debbie Macomber's Twenty Wishes. I'm going to be on the lookout for more Blossom Street books. Can't afford hardcovers...
I'm getting ready to start "Sex, Lies and Online Dating", which is part of the Writer Friends series by Rachel Gibson. I am out of order though, as I've already read "Tangled Up In You". I really do hate it too when I do that. I have the Erin McCarthy race car series on my wish list, along with Susan Elizabeth Phillips Chicago Stars series. I've not read either of these authors before.
I've had a change of heart. I decided to put the Rachel Gibson Writer Friends series on hold. Instead, I've started reading "It Had To Be You" by Susan Elizabeth Phillips - Chicago Star Series. This is my very first book of hers to read.
Most of those authors are some of my favorites, But I'm looking for a new author. I love Lori Foster, Erin McCarthy, Toni Blake, Rachel Gibson, and Lucy Monroe. Those are my all time faveorite authors. I also love Linda Howard and Christie Ridgway. I looking for someone who writes like any of those authors. Can somebody please help me find another author that I love.
Kathrynn wrote: ""Flat-Out Sexy" by Erin McCarthy. That was such a neat modern book. Can't wait for more by this author (on that series).
"
Did you read her follow up book to this Hard and Fast? I have to say, I liked Flat Out Sexy way more. But if you liked it, you should check the 2nd out too.
I was not a romance reader until last year. I picked one up that my sister-in-law left while visiting last Summer. A very hot and steamy read let me know why some of them are so popular. Since then I've grown to appreciate the differences between chick-lit, romance, romantica, and full fledged erotica. Along the way I've come across a few authors I consistently enjoy.Stephanie Bond, Vicki Lewis Thompson, Tori Carrington, Marie Donovan, and Carly Phillips all seem to have been pretty good performers. They all write fun and sexy books. VLT is generally more fun and M. Donovan is generally the hottest.
As for series, usually the first book in a series is the best. The Nerd books and the Hex books by VLT were fun. The Creed Brothers by Linda Lael Miller were OK too. Although it is the same story three times in a row. The Chandler Brothers by Carly Phillips is the same way, but more fun.
As for cheap and quick reads, the Harlequin Blaze series is a good choice. On the other hand, I have yet to read one of the Intrigues that was even up to OK standards.
Some of my all time favortie books are
Perfect Together by Lisa Plumley
Reconsidering Riley
It Had To Be You by Susan Elizabeth Phillips
Wyoming Winter by Judy Christenberry (The Randalls are one of my favortie families)
Wife For A Day by Patti Berg
This no cover for this one,
Soliders of Fortune by Diana Palmer
There are so many books.
